      I feel for this song as you commented. It's good to hear the song but , like me you also focused on her subtle body sways along with her voice delivery that told the story with so much personal emotion. That's spiritual in that the embodiment of that soul singing touches not the fleshly you, but the inward part of you. This was awesome!

    This song was personal for her if you watch her movie surviving Compton dr. Dre whom she was with for years and has a child by used to beat the hell out of her and cheat on her a lot all throughout the relationship. During this particular song he choked her in the booth and threatened to beat her because she didn’t want to finish the song. She then got with suge knight and had baby with him but he ended up beating her putting her in the hospital with a broken jaw and etc.

    Jack, you are very intuitive. The way you picked up on her "struggling" through the song; she definitely was. Her passion was very real and quite heartbreaking, because the man that she was with at the time was using her for a human punching bag (literally). That's right. Your boy, Dr. Dre was a certified woman beater. Look up a movie called Surviving Compton. That is Michelle's side of the story (which she had every right to tell since Dre conveniently left her out of Straight Outta Compton altogether). But yes, these vocals were coming from a very real place. This is one of the most vocally moving songs I've ever heard by the way. Every time I hear it, it gets the same reaction out of me. I just love it. And that horn section, is-no-joke.
    And, if you'd like to do more from Michelle' you should react to her bop "Nicety".

    Yes, that was Dr. Dre and Easy E. Her first label was Easy's label Ruthless Records. Dr. Dre is her original producer, and he is one of her children's father along with Suge Knight. She sounds broken because she says that every man that she was ever with stayed beating on her and she accepted it as normal because that's what she grew up seeing all the men around her doing. It's heartbreaking, but some beautiful, emotion filled music came out of all that pain. React to World Class Wreckin' Cru "Turn Off The Lights" (Dr. Dre was in the group) if you want to hear Michel'le's very first recorded vocals.

    Just watching this again, it’s so crazy how on the nose you were about this! The fact you felt her pain and broken soul based on just this, that’s special man. Love it!

    Michel'e was down with NWA and Ruthless records. Cube had already left. True fact right here though. Michel'e has a grown child with Dr. Dre and a grown child with Suge Knight. Oh and you have got to hear Michel'e's speaking voice. It will blow your mind how different it is from her singing voice.

    If I remember correctly, she said in an interview that while filming this video she had a black-eye and lost her vision in that eye (I think she said her left eye). It was from a blow to her face by Dre. She is one of my favorite artist. I just love her. My favorite song by her is "Close To You"

    Try watching the movie Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge and Michel'le to get a better understanding of who she is and her music

      That movie is biased AF. Yeah he was an asshole but it painted her to be some innocent angel when U know full well that wasn't the case

    • @kashmeremajesty2163
      @kashmeremajesty2163 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@GantzIsSloppy I don't think the movie made her innocent at all. It shows that she smoked, drank and popped pills. And it also shown where she had her son at a party that could have got them both killed if a fan of hers didn't protect her

      @carriel9954 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gantz Is Sloppy wym. How was the movie biased?? The movie dr Dre made him seem like a good guy and eazy e seem like a bad guy. That movie was very biased. The movie michel’le made showed her flaws and struggles. Her movie was genuine unlike the one Dre made.

    She was an underrated vocalist n singer. She has few more great hits all under her ex Dr Dre when she was with Andre. Then she got with Suge n did a few background vocals on tracks including Pac. Try Nice-t , no more lies,

    A lot of LEGENDS HERE! Eazy-E, Dr. Dre' and the D.O.C.! DR. Dre produced this album, her first. Dr. Dre and her were together and he was beating her almost to death. He is a known woman beater check the Sista Dre Brown lawsuit against him. He beat her down in public over a story. Anyway, this album went double platinum at the time and I think one of the best R&B albums of the era. Great reaction. You also do her other big hits from the album which are "NO MORE LIES" and "NICETY"! GOOD STUFF!

    Jack I'm 2 years late, but Yea Dre and E were in the video. Basically NWA and Michel'le were on the same label and they were like family, but mainly those 2 had a hand in her success. Both Dre and E had a crush on her and were trying to win her over, but Dre got her. He was keeping secrets and promised to be honest when they got serious and when the opportunity came for Michel'le to start writing and putting out material, she used her hit song "no more lies" as a way to call Dre out on his mess because he was still lying and cheating on her. But out of fear of losing her, he started gaslighting, controlling and manipulating her by abusing her in every way. On top of that her career was taking off but he wanted the spotlight to himself so he got her pregnant to keep her away from the spotlight. For years the MC Hammer tour was the only one we've seen her on, and her self titled album was the only one we got until they broke up. Not to mention they were engaged, and when she went to rehab to get help, he got engaged to his now ex wife 🙄. Like bruh how u engaged to 2 people at the same time?
