That is a terex, the manual is for a different altec unit. Also the factory hoses for altec and terex are made by parker hoses. I work on these every day, get the correct manual from terex before you hurt yourself.
You're right about one thing, the engineers being hired these days have no hands on ,they are just designing stuff and redesigning stuff that doesn't need to be, and they are making more money than the welders and assemblers who have to rework all the engineering mistakes
The boom in your picture is not an Altec unit. That's a Hi-Ranger. Maybe you need a new engineer for your glasses?
