Seeing it from start to finish, honestly incredible, these lionesses are absolute Legends, no international tournament won either men or women since 1966 and they played like that in the history books forever. Great to see, I can't imagine what it would have felt like to have been there. I can see a movie in the making, or at least someone should do one, well deserved and feel so so proud. I know it was weeks ago now but I'll never forget it. Thankyou. Just hope FIFA will make the change on equal pay, the way it should be.

To me this hits differently from watching men's football, the enjoyment for the game (as such) was the same but the real impact is the reach of the achievement for so many who wished well but thought this would never happen... (and many wished not so well...), not just because of the trophy but in the way the team performed when chips were down. So many moments, Stanway vs Spain, Mead's footwork, Toone chip vs Sweden, Russo backheel. Kelly in the final. Touch of class, inspiration, consistent effort and team spirit.

I remember watching the final with my dad and when that final whistle blew it was a mix of celebrations and bittersweetness...
Only because I remember wishing my stepmum had been alive to see us win. She passed away in February of this year, and she loved football.
She was 10 when the England men last won the World Cup - back then, girls weren't allowed to play, and women were BANNED by the FA - only because they were successful at it.
And I just remember that night, going to bed and shedding a tear - because I knew she would've been celebrating so hard if she watched it with us in person 💜

Sitting here on a cold September night and remembering... I was going to say that it was the best thing about last summer, but for me it was the best thing about the whole year. Every one of them won my heart (especially Alicia 'Mad Dog' Russo. That back-heeled goal against Sweden combined persistence with ingenuity and it left me open-mouthed. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it in 60 years of watching football.)

And I'd like to say that I was disgruntled when I read that only the captain and three other players (according to the BBC website) received awards in the New Year's Honours list. Me too the men need to watch and take notes footballs a team sport too many players on the mens side play for individual pride and greed spend more time passing the ball among defense or around the box too scared to shoot incase they miss. Rather you shoot and miss then go playing pinball then look shocked when you lose the ball and lose matches. Can't win if the balls always with defenders or if you never shoot

    *Subbed*
My 70 year old mum always hated football due to the toxicity it engenders in the mens game, I told her to watch the final as it would be historic; it did not disappoint, my mum...a lifelong hater of the game was screaming her nut off when her favourite player Kelly got the winning goal!
Taking her to watch City and Kelly play next month when I get my first Sunday off in a while, she cannot wait. :D

The winning formula England had for the Euros can’t be recreated for the World Cup. We’d be wise to not mythologise and bask in past achievements, however glorious.
