Jenny Evensen definitely the first aid kit.(mostly the period products even if you dont need there might be someone who started and wasn't prepared) I dont know how many time this has happened to me and I dont do ballet I'm just a stage actor and were are all a family we got to look out for our own.
I suggest using some sort of period product during every performance even if you’re not on your period. You never know when it’s gonna decide to show up.
I always bring ibuprofen/Advil, icyhot, an ace bandage (god forbid you or someone else falls and dies), rosin, and a toothbrush/floss so when I snack my teeth aren't yellow, and usually like a book, earbuds, or puzzles or something so I can like, calm my nerves when there's some downtime
I always bring the mini disposable tooth brushes you can get at a pharmacy store and brush my teeth right before a show! And also makeup remover wipes!!!
Thank you so much! Period products would also be something you should bring. I literally forget something for every performance I've done, so this was very helpful for me ❤️
Hey Kathryn! I would love it if you could do a foot care routine for pointe! I'm always struggling with my nails getting under my skin which keeps me from staying on point comfortably. Just like how you take care of your feet daily and how you use toe tape and other things to help on pointe... Thank anyway and lots lots lots of love from Portugal 🇵🇹!! 💖
Other things I would add to this: safety pins, some kind of anti inflammatory/pain killer, larger bandaids (like a gauze) and because I don't think this was specifically mentioned, extra pairs of socks!!! Really big fuzzy ones if you have some
Everybody told me I'm crazy because I bring so much stuff for performance (but I always had everything I needed) :) your hair looks so so good! Are those natural curls? :) great video, as always! 💟
You are NOT crazy! Better safe than sorry! Plus if you have everything you need, then you don't have to stress out as much. So good for you! And thank you! My hair is naturally wavy but these curls had some help. :)
you forgot the hairspray and rosin speaking of which I know this is going to sound querky or even weird but are you one of the many that have that little inner child that loves to crush the rosin on the floor, because of the way it feels or the nice loud soothing sound when performing on slippery wood floors? I like the sound as dancers are pretty but we both know that to be at your level they are tough to the core, as for me well it reminds me of sanding wood when being rubbed after being crushed and exploding in epic fashion, and it reminds me of being in the shop making a wood project just as fine as it can be near finishing. what are your thoughts Katie ? Here is an owl for you ^V^
Girl_with_the_red_lipstick same here. I always have glue with me. Which sounds weird. But it’s really useful because we have those things we stick to our box to prevent falling. And sometimes it gets loose
Hi I am a Latin dancer, nothing to do with Ballet but I love it since well, I am a dancer too. Just wanted to let you know how much I admire you and have been following you since you got very sick and decide to start this channel, I absolutely love how from something that anyone can call negative, you make something super bright and positive (your channel) I also had thyroid problems and know exactly how hard this can be. I love your channel and admire you a lot. Thanks @Katrhyn your are inspiration!
I would also add any earrings or jewelry pieces that go with costumes:) i always forget little things like earrings. And a reusable water bottle is absolutely essential!!!
Cannot WAIT for Nutcracker season! Thanks for the great tips. And I learned the snow tip the hard way, haha! 😂 The only other thing I would add is probably a sticky/adhesive bra if your costume has an open back.
Honestly I've wanted to do ballet since I was 2, but I never started. Recently I started considering it but then I started watching your videos and that was the deciding factor. Now, 13 years later, I bought my first pair of ballet shoes and I'm beyond ecstatic
I also pack a portable charger, they are so handy, as well as safety pins (for things like pointe shoe emergencies) and a change of formal clothes as well as warm-ups
Hey Kathryn! Could you do a video on how to retrain your ankles to do the right thing or how to break bad dance habits? I injured myself recently because of a bad habit and my doctor said that if it happens again, I might not be able to dance. 😭
my tip for bad habits (I have a lot to work on still) is when you do said bad habit like I dont know going up into a balance improperly try and go back and do it again as soon as possible dont be afraid to do it right then and there your teachers would probably appreciate you being aware of your bad habits and actively working to fix them and when your practicing at home correct no matter what
Can you PLEASE do a more in depth warm up video for before a performance!!!!! I always have a hard time with a warm up, I'm either not warm enough or I tired myself out too much!!!!
I like bringing clear nail polish for tights with a run, in case you don't have time to change them! Also some clean snacks like almonds and lots of water!
tiger balm, 2nd skin squares or blister band aids (blisters are a pain when you have nothing to take care of them with), duct tape (this is my preference since it’s stronger than toe tape and you won’t sweat it off as easily), also some of those heat pads that you can get for pain that have adhesive to stick to skin especially if you get cramps, extra makeup wipes i’ve been a situation where people take my makeup wipes and when i need to change my makeup nobody has any makeup wipes or remover so yeah
This is so helpful! Thank you so much Katie ♡ Every year I seem to be the one who is always overprepared for our performances knowing that I'm not crazy for bring all that extra stuff makes me feel slightly less insane 😂😂
Hello, could you please make a video about how to get your child interested in ballet? And what age they should start, what age they should get serious, etc. Will you be continuing your podcasts? Love your videos! x
I just want to say that this video really helped me, I always arrive at the theatre all stressed but after this video I'm so relaxed . Also your amazing ❤️
Omg this helped so much at dress rehearsal I was freaking out because I could find a bunch of my hair and makeup stuff and o realized I forgot it, but with this video helped so much because now I won’t forget anything. Also, the thing about having two bags helped because when I got home from dance, my water bottle leaked all over everything and my pointe shoes and my jazz shoes are soaking wet! But my show is tomorrow so now I will be smart and pack everything well! 👍
Love your hairstyle. :) On the list - don't forget any electronics (cell phone & charger) and for those wanting to keep the different bags together use carabiners to clip the small bags together and put into a tote bag.
Katie you look much more relaxed in this video. I hope that the waters are receding and that Eric has managed to get some rest. Martin and I have had you both in our thoughts and prayers this week. xxxx
I've been dying the last couple days waiting for a video from you ❤️ Of course I understand there was a lot lot of more important stuff to do, so happy that you and your family are okay after Harvey. So good to hear from you again, I got so excited as I saw you posted something :D
Floss, foam tape is a must! I use it on top my big toenail in soft shoes because kneeling kills the top after the 100th time up going down and up. Hand warmers. :). You’re so beautiful! I’m so thankful you’re sharing your experience :) Our Nutcracker performances are this weekend, 2 per day. I’m Nervous as can be.
Katie! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talents with us, I've loved your channel for quite some time now :). Fortunately, period products don't apply to me. I'd like to make another request that you make a small video about men in ballet and your experiences with them. I'm a powerlifter who fell in love with ballet after watching a university performance a few years ago. I took the intro to ballet course my school offered and I'm beginning the next level course this week. If you could show us some love, I know I'm not the only man who'd be grateful :).
Great list. Here are some other things I bring: snacks, water, juice, fruit, small toothbrush, lint roller, things for costumes like safety pins, extra socks, change of comfy clothes for after, a book or something else if we have a long break, small blanket and pillow for long days, essential oils for germs, aches, pains, upset stomach, and...label everything!!!
Even if I'm not a dancer this is one of the most useful things I have ever found... I'm an actress and when I have to pack for any of my performances I always panic because I don't want to forget anything... So... Thank you very much!
I’m a stage actor and dancer I always bring extra make up an extra disposable make up brushes and things like that because you never know who might forget theirs I also bring way more stuff I have like six bags to go with me to the theater but you never know what you’re going to need and 100% bring a sewing kit yeah never know when you’re gonna need to fix something on a costume
Haha, I love nutcracker. It's really hard to bring everything, hair supplies, dance wear, etc. Edit: omg My dance company is also freezing!😰😰 And I'm not on pointe shoes yet XD I'm part of JMBT btw
I’d recommend a flashlight. We had frequent power outages at the theaters, dance studios, and dance schools where I performed. Those come in very handy.
Hi! I wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed your youtube channel for so long and I am so happy to see that it has grown so much! I can not wait until you hit 1M. subscribers because you deserve it! You have always been an inspiration to me and many others! I wanted to comment today because of a ballet related question(s) that has been troubling me. I really hope that this question won't bother you too much but I have become desperate and do not no what to do or who else to ask. My family and I just recently moved to Germany a few weeks ago and I have been trying hard to find a good ballet school for serious dancers. Back in America I was homeschooled so I could focus on my ballet training but this year I will have to be going to a normal school and I am afraid that I will not be able to be as focused or do as much ballet as I would like. how can I keep organized, finish my homework, and have enough time for my classes? My mom and I have been looking all over the internet for good ballet schools in our area. The only school that was appealing was the John Cranko Ballet School but it is to late o audition. All of the other ballet schools in this area are more focused on young ballet students and adults. They do not have many class options for teens who take ballet seriously. The ballet schools that do offer classes for my age have class only 3 times a week. I feel that if I would like to succeed in the ballet world I would need much, much more that this! Also all of the ballet schools we have looked at do not provide a lot of performance opportunities. Do you or anyone else have experience or knowledge to contribute ti a situation like this? I really need help!
Thank you so much for this checklist! Very helpful💗 My ballet class on Monday is very hard and I find myself not even trying to go across the floor. I know they say the studio is a judgement free zone but I still feel like my class mates are judging me. I don't want them to see me mess up. What should I do?
I know where you are coming from. I would definitely talk to your teacher if you are really struggling. But remember this - are you judging the other people in the room? Are you looking for every mistake they make? Probably not! So they are very likely not judging you like that. Most students are too focused on their own technique, which is a good thing! So rest assured, they won't notice every little mistake. Ballet is 90% mental so trust yourself and just do your best!
This is really awesome thanks for making this, but by the way you forgot one thing, nail care products like clippers and a nail file and possibly even nail polish remover you have no idea how many people at my conservatory forget to trim their nails down for a little while and so happen to be long enough to bother during the performance🙂
So helpful! Nutcracker rehearsals are underway for me and I'm so excited (thankfully my school is only doing two performances). This is going to be so useful when the shows come up.
So Im not a dancer but I do consider myself an athlete.. And a huge fan of lists on competition day! But I would normally also include water/electrolytes and anything I needed for recovery.. I'll add Tylenol, a small ice pack, water bottle and snacks. Separate bags is soooo smart, Not only does it protect clothing and shoes from soumis and leave, but it makes it earlier to find an item and to keep Things tidy
This is so great! I would also really love a video on performance food & snacks (assuming there isn't one already?). I find it really difficult to find filling but healthy snacks that do not contain nuts as there's almost always an allergy ban
I’m a dance mom. The tip I have is to pack everything in different size zip locks. That way if we get caught in the rain everything is dry. (Also spills with little ones) and if something in the bag spills it is contained without damaging anything else.
I’m really sorry but the checklist isn’t showing up when I click on the link so could you please email it to me or just put it in the comments please thank you.
First aid KIT (with paikillers, tampons, eyedrops, cream for muscle pain, nosespay etc) Food and a waterbottle/and or juice or smoothie
Brilliant! Can't believe I forgot a water bottle...... haha but that's why I have you guys! xo
You never know when it’s gonna decide to show up.
madi__k16 my friend always wore a liner
@@kathryn_morgan I want as a hobby
Also clear nail polish (to help rips or holes In your tights) and nail polish remover!
I didn't know that! thank you!!
TAMPONS LADYS TAMPONS BRING THEM
I even have my son pack pads and tampons, because it is just a life necessity.
Ladies sorry it was triggering me!!!
Bring overnignt pads
Valdeja Jean bring overnight pads a bunch! Make sure they are thin! According to cousitume
Tampons especially because the leotards show everything from personal experiences as a dancer
Love those suggestions!
great ideas
YES! Definitely more pre performance videos please! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I will do that!
Wig pins. Not sure about y'all, but I have thick hair and bobby pins never kept my hair in a bun. Also, painkillers, tampons, pads, etc.
I always bring the mini disposable tooth brushes you can get at a pharmacy store and brush my teeth right before a show! And also makeup remover wipes!!!
Thank you so much! Period products would also be something you should bring. I literally forget something for every performance I've done, so this was very helpful for me ❤️
YES! Of course. Can't believe I forgot that. Thank you!
yeah thoses are really essential and if you pack more than you need then someone else might be in a bind and need one so you can help them out.
Hey Kathryn! I would love it if you could do a foot care routine for pointe! I'm always struggling with my nails getting under my skin which keeps me from staying on point comfortably.
Just like how you take care of your feet daily and how you use toe tape and other things to help on pointe...

I will work on that! Thank you!
@@kathryn_morgan yes please I really need this since I'm still a beginner
your really pretty
You hair looks stunning in this video!!! And the makeup too!
Thank you!
Other things I would add to this: safety pins, some kind of anti inflammatory/pain killer, larger bandaids (like a gauze) and because I don't think this was specifically mentioned, extra pairs of socks!!! Really big fuzzy ones if you have some
Makeup remover is definitely an essential!
Baby wipes help !
I would bring costumes tape. I always bring this just in case a costume is a little to big and you need to tape it down😁
Great idea!
Everybody told me I'm crazy because I bring so much stuff for performance (but I always had everything I needed) :) your hair looks so so good! Are those natural curls? :) great video, as always! 💟
