Hunter × Hunter (ハンター×ハンター, Hantā Hantā) is a shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi with an anime adaptation. The first chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga series began was published in March of 1998, in the Japanese magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump.The manga has continued its serialization and is currently reached 280 chapters, however, the publication history of the Hunter × Hunter manga has been plagued with hiatuses, the longest of which lasted one and a half years, between February 2006 and October 2007. These hiatuses are often attributed to the author suffering from an unspecified illness. As of chapter 280, the series is again, on hiatus, to allow the author time to prepare the next ten chapters.
The story of Hunter × Hunter focuses on a young boy named Gon Freecss, who one day discovers that the father he had always been told was dead was alive and well. He learns that his father, Ging Freecss, is a legendary Hunter, a person that has proven themselves by examination to be an elite member of humanity, with a license to go anywhere or do anything. Despite the fact that his father abandoned Gon with his relatives in order to pursue his dreams, Gon becomes determined to follow in his father's footsteps, pass the Hunter examination, and eventually find his father, to prove himself as a Hunter in his own right.

There is something about the 1999 OST. It was perfect and just harmonized with the series and story. This 1999 series will always hold a place in my heart.

This song is the perfect soundtrack to represent the character of Gon, and the Hunter x Hunter Story. I wish they used this in the 2011 version. Best track in all of Hunter x Hunter.

The 2011 version has amazing soudtracks as well. Especially in YN and chimera ants arcs. It's probably just your nostalgia speaking

Nostalgia not an argoument, just an excuse for muting people with different opinion.

I've seen the old version at least 50 times, it's part of my childhood and pre-adolescence and what made me discover this huge world of anime and manga, I love it too bits, but I'm just stating the truth, here.

All of Hunter X Hunter's OSTs are the most beautiful music pieces I have ever heard in my life, and I am a musician (woodwinds and guitar) and played hundreds of music but these soundtracks blows my mind.
I wanna cry !! seriously this anime is indescribable .. listening to that soundtrack returns me back 6 years ago when i first watched it .. and i remember how much i was excited .. i even thought about it before sleeping and created my own character !! the drawing the backgrounds the story the soundtracks ..everything is great .. Genius work

LEORIO = KUWABARA
KURAPIKA = KURAMA
KILLUA = HIEI
Not exactly. Leorio and kurapica are pretty similar to kuwabara and kurama, respectively, but gon is nothing like yusuke and killua is nothing like hiei. Gon is an innocent child, yusuke is a delinquent and a bit of an ass. Killua has the personality of your average kid, for the most part, while hiei is kind of emo.
Meir Guggenheim yeah the only thing makes yusuke and gon are similar is that both of them wear green clothes
savannah kuswanda even when it comes to the clothes, yusuke only wore his green clothes in the initial episodes (when he was a ghost), in the fight against the four beasts, and during the yukina rescue mission. at all other points in the story he wore something else

Every time I listen to this song its sends chills down to my spine! I can feel that great sense of adventure, mystery, and challenge! I don’t understand how this song didnt endup on the 2011 version! If there is one iconic song that can describe HxH world it has to be this one!
Hunter x Hunter 2011 should be produced by Nippon Animation again. they know how to prepare many beautiful music theme (bgm) , not only opening and ending.

i can't even describe how I feel when I hear this , i'm happy , overjoyed, then I am sad , then i'm remembering my childhood , and i'm happily tearing up .... mixed feelings , this show and this song mean so much to me as the child that I am until this day

Well, besides this being the biggest nostalgia bomb ever, lemme just say what I'm thinking outright...does anyone else prefer how Killua is drawn in 1999? 'Cause he seems to be stylized so much more accurately than that of the one in the 2011 remake, imo.

I always attribute this song with Gon 's fighting against the ninja worrier due to his determination to meet his father.
Whenever I think of Hunter x Hunter or Gon, this is always the first track that comes to mind. I love it. It perfectly captures the feel of the series, IMO.

after my brother says 2011 is good, I start to watch it, then come to love 2011 as well.
but what makes me hesitate to watch 2011 at first, is the different music vibe. each song in 1999 tells its own story ^.^
I watched 20 animes, all of the top class in terms of adventure, action, blood, plot twisted stuff (iuncluding the big three animes) and HxH is still my favourite.

normally, i don't like watching kid size characters anime, but this song, the story, and the funny acts got me. i don't think this anime is done yet; i'm not sure because i'd seen it like 1 or 2 years ago. although, i had drewed away from this anime, the song is still in my memory. love it.

Hunter is the most classic Shonen amines ever made; although the animation quality is a little outdated, the spirit and the heart of the series is not the slightest bit.
2011 has surprased 1999 in graphic and with the movie but the original series is a jewel. Everything new everything perfect.
