The 04 was one of the first 4 strokes I ever owned. Not a bad bike but definitely teething problems. Once I had the head redone and figured out it’s starting drill it was great. It was a tank but well built and lasted for a long time!
What do you mean by aggressive? I'm thinking about picking one of these up either this weekend or next. I've not ridden in quite a while, would you say it's a no go for a novice rider? I figure it's something I could grow into and not need to worry about upgrading to another bike in a few years.
I remember the 04-05 crfs(especially the 05) being very popular xc racer conversions here in wv. Had several friends that rode and raced them with no issues other than staying on top of valvetrain maintenance. Typical honda....no frills, no b.s., solid and reliable with user friendly power that worked for mx and xc
Put 264 hours on mine. The hour meter broke and I kept on riding it. Sold it to a buddy and he never had any issues with it. Now someone else has it. Thing was bulletproof. One of the best bikes ever made once you got the head done and it stopped eating valves every ten hours
@@mcdonnellmyles Send the head out to have beryllium copper valve seats installed. We used Fast Heads out in Utah, but any reputable engine builder can do it.
@@troyhubbard50 back in the day I got my 05’ with probably 100+ hours on it, had the valve issue where it couldn’t be shimmed again. Went with kibblewhite stainless valves with a fresh OEM top end and it ran great for hundreds of hours to the day I sold it. Did you ever touch top end in those 264 hours or original piston? I’ve heard stories of 500+ hrs untouched lol
I CAUGHT the dirt bug back in March. Always wanted one as a kid. Stole a few (payed the fines, did the time) we didn't have much money. As a grown man I'm scared I have a problem. I'm on my fourth... In 6 months. I messed up and bought another (had a few B4) Fireblade. Had I known the condition I suffer from I would have walked down to the dealership and slap that money on the counter for a new dirtbike. Now, one of my favorite destinations is the bike shop to oogle the 250R from Honda. Have debated selling a few and signing the papers on a new one.... These mid 2000's look AMAZING and if they're as bulletproof as you guys say, I'll put it on the list of bikes to immediately snag when they come up for sale used
Might be getting a 05 450r Sunday info test ride it already has new everything done trading a car that needs a fuel pump nothing wrong with bike dude said it's nuts fast i rode a stock 450r and it's scary fast and I loooved speed
I want to see Stark Varg race in AMA against current 450s! See how well it stacks up with the best bikes of today. I would also like 300cc 2 strokes being accepted into AMA in 450 class.
I find it hard to believe only 1300 views. I cant wait for Tony to come out with another video and I know there's allot more like me!
I LOVE my 07 CRF450R! Put a Rekluse Clutch on and this bike as well as upgraded the suspension, brakes, bars and levers. This Bike is the real deal.

I had the 06 crf 250 ! Great bike! I recently bought 05 crf450! Loving it so far! It plowed through stuff like a tank!
I had an 08 (basically the same bike) and it was fantastic! Love the videos, keep up the great work!
Yep. The 05 was better than the 09. By a lot, actually.
Just got a 05 crf450r and love it, it’s really aggressive but so light and handles great

05-08 crf450 may be the best bikes ever made!!!

what exactly do you have to get done to the head?
@@mcdonnellmyles The valve seats would wear out. You couldn't get ten hours without having to shim valves
@@troyhubbard50 gotcha...so what is the fix? I might get an 05-08, will want to do that before ripping it
