    I like that it includes the water packet too! So many emergency meals don't include water, so you need to have running water, or you have to purchase a separate bottle of water. Smart thing to include.

    • @pwp8737
      @pwp8737 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +44

      since she needed to add water to both the meal and the outer layer to initiate the chemical reaction, the included water was portioned for only one. I personally would have used the included water, sitting in plastic for God only knows how long, for the chemical process and used my own tap water for the food.

      @@pwp8737 I thought including the water was weird. People are going to need water to drink anyway, if you haven't got water to drink you've got bigger problems than heating your lunch.

      @@juandenz2008 assuming you're in an emergency situation, having packaged water in your emergency kit that doesn't need to potable is absolutely a good thing.
      It means you're not using water you could be saving for drinking to cook your food.
      Having been stuck in the Australian outback, waiting six hours for pickup at a broken down car, I'd much rather have my drinking water be used only for drinking.

      @@toobreeki8876 If you are in a survival situation where a cup of water is critical, you've got a major problem. You shouldn't be eating anything at all since that would accelerate dehydration and you certainly wouldn't want to eat one of those ultra high in salt meals.

    • @toobreeki8876
      @toobreeki8876 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@juandenz2008 Man, not all emergency situations mean you have extremely limited water.
      We had eighty liters of water in the car (as you should traversing the middle of Australia). Having proper meals on hand for when shit hits the fan, while you have plenty of water otherwise, isn't a bad thing. Most shelf-stable calories that have the nutrients you need have high amounts of sodium, because sodium is a preservative.
      This is to say nothing of the fact that you NEED salt to actually hydrate effectively, especially in high heat where you're sweating a lot.

      this is exactly the thing I don't like about these self heating meals. it's "easy". look at the packaging. this is absurd. Yea, lets say you're on a trip or you want to stock up in case power goes out or something. Totally fine. But I can see people using these meals as their only meals because they're to lazy/"no time" to prepare their own food. This amount of package on one meal is just so incredibly stupid. I don't support it honestly. great video though:)

      Yes, the military has water activated heating elements sealed in a packet in MREs. It looks the same as the one in this kit. You slip the pouch containing the main course inside a little plastic sleeve containing the heating element where you pour the water, and then seal the pouch, and the food in the pouch heats up from the steam. It doesn't work perfectly, it's usually warm on one side, but usually part of the food is still cold or room temperature. We also didn't usually have enough time to let it heat up thoroughly, so we often ate them without heating them up first. The meal kit in this video seems to work better.

      Gospel of Jesus Christ John 3:16 For God So loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not Perish but have Everlasting Life. Jesus Christ Died for the sin of the World, If you believe in ur heart God risen Jesus from the dead and confess him with ur mouth to people you shall be saved. Jesus said I Am The only way to heaven there is no other way! Repent of urs sins (Repent means Change ur Mind turning away from sinful things and being truly sorry for it.) trust Jesus and give ur life to him He Loves you cares about you more than anyone ever will! we are saved By Grace Trough Faith!,this is sin: Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death but the gift of eternal life in our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23 For all have sined and felt short of the Glory of God. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Romans 1:18‭-‬21‭, ‬23 KJV Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9‭-‬10 REPENT OR YOU WILL PERISH REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL GET RIGHT WITH GOD LORD JESUS CHRIST.

The meals were stews, soups, etc, no mixing or or preparing. the tray and heat pack came in a box just like a tv dinner. you put the heat pack and meal tray back in the box and 15 minutes later, have a streaming hot meal. @@joy1ess they are consumed by a lot of people on a daily basis. I am not saying that there are people out there that eat these everyday, but they are eaten in large quantities on a daily basis. With the plastic pollution we are having today, just get yourself an electric skillet and cook it that way. Travelers generally either eat at roadside restaurants or they prepare meals in their RVs. If it is a camping situation then just build yourself a campfire. We have to do our part in reducing the amount of plastic waste we are putting into our environment.

      Very common in packaged food items, sadly
      My favorite instant noodle is guilty of this. Wrapping around noodles, spicy sauce packet, seasoning packet. Then a wrapper around all three to keep them together. Then another wrapper around a pack of 4 of those bundles.

    After the video I looked online for the chemical packs. I have severe food allergies, and have a disability that sometimes puts me in the hospital. I can’t eat anything they serve there, so I bring my own food. This means that I usually end up eating cold meals, unless my family brings in a hot one.
    At home we grow and preserve most of the food we eat, so I make my own MRE’s and a lot of canned meals. I found both the packs and a reusable container meant to cook in with the chemical packs and that also comes with a cold pack to keep the food fresh until cooking. I ordered both. This will be a game changer, for me, the next time I have to be hospitalized. My husband will be able to drop food off on his way to work, and I can then just heat it up when I am ready to eat. Nutrition is especially important when you are sick, so this solves an important problem.

      Interesting. For gods sake these people. These meals are for emergencies mainly. Obviously can be used in other aspects. Maybe in emergencies where there is no other choice but to eat these. But no the pressing issue is whether they can be recycled or something. Think of the amount of ingredients there were. Each ingredient could’ve been put into separate packaging instead of less. There could’ve been more. 🤦🏻‍♀️
