I caught a brown anole and tried to take care of it and I also force fed it but two days later it’s skin started becoming black and swollen and it had a seizure and died. It happened to areas where I barely touched it as well and when it died it’s eyes went black. Anyone have some answers?
I am fortunate to live in Florida. There are hundreds of these in the shrubs around my house. They are fascinating to watch. I put out shelters for them (upside down flower pots) for shelter from snakes (black racer snakes are chasing them incessantly) and from cold snaps in the winter. I avoid using any insecticides around my house, I let the Anoles do that for me. They occasionally run into the house, but since there is no food or water for them, I catch them with a butterfly net and put them back outside. The big males are very territorial and there is lots of Anole drama going on right outside my window!

Sorry to say but this is a bit outdated for anyone watching this recently, the minimum enclosure size for a pair of an old is 20 gallons not 10 now and we now know that they can live up to 8 to 10 years not three, I don’t recall him mentioning anything about calcium and vitamin C supplements which must be added to their food and they need a basking lamp and UVB lamp T5 or higher, bioactive enclosure is also more recommended now since you do less maintenance and it’s a living ecosystem your pet can enjoy and make them feel like they are in the wild or in a natural habitat, these guys are not recommended for young children especially since they are very delicate and can be easily harmed when handling

+xBlueChicmunkx Those lizards are friendly compared to most other wild reptiles and they require low care compared to bearded dragons or frilled dragons.But geckos are better at being pets.

What I do when my lizard won't eat is try different kinds of bugs, if it won't eat crickets or meal worms try something new like small roaches, maybe a couple wax worms (not too many because they are not the best for them) or if you can find them maybe some phoenix worms or horn worms, once you get them eating again they should be find with going back to crickets for a while.
They need very minimal light? What the heck? Do you even know how to care for an anole? Please don't listen to him. Anoles need heat gradients, basking bulbs, and FULL SPECTRUM UV lighting.
Kino Barrera Here’s the thing, anoles get the proper things they need from basking in the sun. When they are in a house as pets, they need an alternative to sun. The closest thing is a basking lamp.
