I used to catch tons of these growing up in Houston. One in particular, a female, lived by our trash cans. She became my outdoor pet. I could handle her anytime I wanted, she'd never bite. She'd let me carry her around for extended periods of time and would even ride around on my scooter with me perched atop the handlebars and she wouldn't jump off. I of course named her Lizzy. She was awesome and kew.
I see a lot of comments about how Bob handles the lizards. You have to remember anoles aren't particularly the most easy to handle animals and are extremely fast. He is making an informative video and needs them to not run off; chasing them and trying to grab them would be much more stressful on the animal than 3 minutes of handling. OMG! An Anole hanging from your finger with just it's mouth through half the video is literally the most adorable thing I have ever seen. What cuties they are!
Grew up in Florida and our yard was full of green anoles. As years passed they became fewer and fewer, as the Cuban anoles took over. Even today, when I visit my mom, you can find 1-3 green anoles still around. As kids, we'd tap on their mouths to get them to open, and clip them on our earlobes. As an adult, I respect all creatures and don't mess with them anymore. I've come to respect a particular green anole that shows no fear of me. It'll make it's rounds, walk past me and sometimes chill on the porch screen while I'm out having a smoke. It once crawled on the chair I was sitting on and chilled there long after I got up. I'll calmly talk to it everytime I see it, and it watches me. I like to think we have an understanding and look forward to seeing it again.
I had two anoles when I was a kid, one was brown and the other green, I absolutely loved them. The brown was a bit smaller but super feisty, she would bite my fingers the first chance she got, but the green male which was much bigger was the most chilled out lizard I've ever had, he was a real buddy to me, I could reach my hand into his tank and he would walk up my fingers and gently crawl into my hand, and he loved chilling on my shoulder, he'd sit there for an hour without moving lol. They make great pets for kids, as long as they know how to care for them (super easy, crickets every two weeks, mist with water daily, keep their water dish full, heat lamp on one side and bi-monthly tank cleanings), I was 6 when I first got them and had them for 4 and 5 years before they both died, their normal lifespan in captivity. Its fun as hell watching them when you dump in a box of 50 crickets, they go nuts lol.
My sister was a master at catching anoles. And when we were little, she thought it was hilarious to walk around with a lizard hanging from both her ears!
I remember I want to this camp site with my grandparents and family and my old sister and I meet these really cool kids (They we’re both brothers). We all sat down at the base of the tree and he caught an Anole. He let it bite his nose and for a good second there was a lizard just dangling from his nose! We were all dying of laughing. 😂😂
I've caught sooo many of these lizards... named them and all. I even planned to start a vlog called "Lizard Catcher101" lol! :) they're a lot in our backyard/balcony. They come around every spring and summer.
Christian Warrior Oh wow, not really where do you live? Because there is a breed of anole lizards, from Cuba. They look just like this, but they're quite a bit bigger. They're called Knight Anoles. :)
I find them remarkable. because they were released by an old pet shop next to my house after it closed. and now they have thrived and become ferrel after year of breeding. But I live in NEW YORK. so they seem to be able to hibernate or brumate for a number of months until mid spring when it gets 70s-80s (May to August).

Erulasse Aranel he probably is, though. The way the green anole was hanging off of his finger is dangerous, and he was grabbing the brown anole by the tail
North Carolina here, and I absolutely love the little lizards and ❤ made a cute little spot next to my little garden just for them, a home they love, with a tiny water fall, rocks, wood items, etc❤
+XxBrandonxX YT I am visiting South Carolina and see them everywhere!! I caught one today and I am hoping to bring it home as my new little pet. I have seen about 15 today (:
I get green anoles in my backyard! We used to have two big males that hung around for several years, and I called them Rocky and Bullwinkle. They loved to put on a show and act tough when d come around. I caught them and held them so many times that they finally quit trying to bite me. I miss those two rascals.
I know they say they are skittish and don’t like to be held. Bought I have also caught an awful lot of them that after a minute or two of petting them, they’ll just climb up on my arm and shoulder and chill out. I remember when I was going to school in Florida I caught one before school and was gently petting its head. It climbed up on my arm so I brought it to school with me. I had it on my desk all day long, with it chilling on my desk then back on my arm off and on. It didn’t want to leave my side, even when I went back outside. I’ve caught a number of them like that. So not all of them are skittish.
I took some video of 2 green anoles fighting today in NC. They were stalking each other on my pindo palm. At first I thought it may be a mating ritual, but after doing a bit of research, I believe now they were fighting. One grabbed the other by the bottom jaw. The funny thing is that neither would give in to the other.
You also see them every where in Texas. I live near Houston and they crawl all over my house and we frequently find mummified ones when we clean behind the couch. When I was a kid we would catch them and make them bite our ear lobes. One time I got in trouble with my teacher for coming in from recess still wearing my brand new green earrings.
Green anoles are everywhere in south Texas also.they are tenacious but harmless.but you failed to mention they are chameleon like.they do change colors to camouflage themselves.
I cannot tell which species I have in my backyard here in Hawaii. There's one that I have been feeding bugs to every morning for nearly a year now. And when it is on a rock or tree bark, it's brown. But when it sees me coming to feed it (I assume it recognizes by now I have food for it), it jumps down onto the green grass lawn and runs up to me (a couple of inches from my feet) and changes its color to green. When it is brown, it looks like the brown one in your video. And when it changes to green, it looks like the green one in your video.
Probably at green anole. Does it's face have more of a V shape like the green anole or a U shape like the brown anole? unless it has a ridged back then it is most likely a crested anole
For everyone that says he's abusing them, let me say that he's a professional, and there's a difference between *HANDLING* , & *HURTING* them. Just because he's handling the reptiles in a quick manor, doesn't mean he's hurting them. Hurting them would mean dangling them by their tails & swinging them around. The anoles are only biting to defend themselves.
No, he isn't. You should never touch anoles or small gecko's. They are easily stressed and are pretty fragile. And you should never pull out their dewlap, it hurts them, it their most fragile body part. One good tip, don't believe every video on youtube, even a somewhat looking professional video can be made by someone that knows nothing about the animals...
Yes, he is. This is Jungle muthafuing Bob. He did nothing to that Anole. Its a mini velociraptor. I am sure much worst things happen to them in nature. That anole he has is gonna live a great life.
cyphus454 How can you not see how stressed these anoles are? Do you see how they go limp and suddenly 'come back to life' and freak out? Or how they keep closing their eyes and keeping them shut? Not to mention the biting and hanging off his finger and ear! Those are signs of severe stress because the anole thinks it is dying. Do you think the lizards care who this prick is? Hell, I don't even know who he is! What I do know is he shouldn't own animals if all he's going to do is stress and put them in potential danger while trying to look cool on youtube, what a loser!

We have them in Long Island NY. About 5 years ago a crate was open at Kennedy airport and they got out. Nassau county said they will be gone by the first winter, well its 5 years later and they are all over my home in Westbury which is a 25 mintue drive from Kennedy.

He won't shut up about "flerda". They are actually everywhere. Tho, I live in Florida, and one step in the woods , boom 10 scatter from your foot. We just have the most because of our tropic yet desserty weather. I dunno why but we do. Tho they are EVERYWHERE.
Wonderful video! My Florida backyard is covered in brown anoles they’re literally everywhere and they’re huge! We have maybe 2 green anoles who hide on my chicken coop and blend right into it. I love these lizards, I used to let them bite on my ears and pretend like they were earrings to scare my aunt LOL.
I was playing around with one that I found and I was wondering why it's neck did that. He was telling me to back off, this territory is mine. Well then my friend, I guess you can no longer stay in my room with that attitude. LoI. Back into the wild you go. But the interesting thing is that some other anole came running straight towards my window when I put the one I found in my room next to the window, to look around outside. Came straight towards my window and climbed up to my window sill. I was like woah. Then the one in my room wanted to get close to her so I put him outside to enjoy her company.
I have 2 green Anoles and 11 brown Anoles I named everyone of them my 3 favorites are my 2 green Anoles 1 male and 1 female the female is Lime and the male is Lemon and my other favorite if Mable a little baby brown Anole female.
I had a green anole as my first reptile pet, she didn't make it(she passed away). She was very close to us, we found her when she was an egg, and I live in Dallas, Texas. Me and my sis would just let her run on our hands and take naps. I miss her very much, she actually passed away yesterday(July 1, 2020).😔
Picked up one of these on the concrete the other day half frozen due to the cold environment of winter. Didnt no what to do with him so i put him in my jacket pocket and once he got warmed up he just slept and seemed happy. Brought him home and ut him in a plastic container and put some stuff in it for warmth and bedding and a little cup of water. He seems fine now, but dont really want to put him back out till it wars up so i put some crickets with him but he hasn't ate. He drank a little bit of water and most the time he sleeps. Should i wait till spring to let him go and just feed him and take care of him or should i put him back in the wild and hope for the best? Ive had him for 2 days...i say its a he but im not sure.. he hasnt bit me and hes pretty cool
"Mini raptors"! I work in a hotel, and the green Anoles like to watch me from the hotel windows like the raptors watch the kids in the kitchen in Jurassic Park.
What a douche bag this guy is!! You should NEVER handle an anole unless absolutely necessary and NEVER EVER by the tail like he did with the brown anole unless you want a tailless lizard! You shouldn't even play with it like he did with the green anole! And never let one just hang off your finger or ear like he did with the green anole, he's lucky it didn't let go or he would've lost the anole or possibly injured it if it fell and landed wrong!
Hawk Darrah That's called a stress reaction dumb ass! When they realize they can't get away they freeze because they think you're killing them. Ever heard of the deer in headlights effect? It doesn't just happen to deer and humans! We are nothing but scary giants to them, they never 'calm down' they go into fight, flight or freeze mode. It's called survival instincts! You really think a WILD animal would sit in your hand for no reason? Idiot! You shouldn't be holding them, would you bother them if they were wild tiger? Probably not but because they are tiny lizards it somehow makes it okay for you harrass and stress them out.
Hawk Darrah 'you can do whatever you want to them and they calm down'.....yes, as a gigantic human being, you can inflict many tortures on them. Just because you can, does not mean you should. I used to breed anoles, he is handling them without respect.
lasthumankind You call that an insult? I am ashamed of you! tsk. My farts are exponentially more offensive than that! Put some muscle into being a blob of a troll, since that energy is obviously not going to your lateral frontal pole, let alone your prefrontal cortex. In fact.....I am curious as to how you can even manage basic motor skills with your....limited capacity.
What a wonderful video. This guy makes it look easy reminds me of Steve Irwin. I live in North Carolina in the Piedmont Region and I've been catching them they seem to like the green and black recycling bin with the river cane that grows next to my house. But they are a bit larger full grown & they're definitely both green and brown. Maybe new species?
I live in Florida and the brown anoles are all around. I find it so funny when I first moved down here and I thought that they were baby geckos... im not to sure if they are a species of gecko... but they are extremely fun to watch!
i just got an anole today coming back from ocean city. i have the green one.he turned brown a few times but i put his cage by the window to calm him down hes sooo cute!!!
My little brothers used to use them as earrings as well when they were small back when we live in Puerto Rico (crested anole in Puerto Rico ) hilariously funny seeing little kids with lizard on their ears. ¡Que pabera! ¡Buenos recuerdos!
Those guys are everywhere in Texas. I once caught a gigantic 10 incher. I think the weather and prevalence of insects agrees with them. They love to bite, but if you turn them over and gently stroke their bellies they will fall into a hypnotic like state.
I had many of these as a young boy in the 1970s used to get them at the pet shop for like $0.99 they always died after a couple months even though I kept feeding them mealworms and flies. Also caught some in Florida in 1975 when my parents took us brought them home in a little cage and the one laid eggs but they all died of course. More recently would see them when we would go on vacation in Myrtle Beach they would run around our motel and pool area. I always liked them for some weird reason. But now as a much older person I feel so bad that I did not really know how to take care of them and they would always die.
Emiwolf Deviant Do you really? interesting. I'm more used to my laid back adult beardie. He is super lazy just riding my shoulder. Lets me move him around any which way. Lol.

We caught a green one here in McAllen. Ours has a friendly temperament and calms down once held for a few seconds.
Im located in McAllen too! Where'd you find it?
True and I got one
I found the lizard in sugar land, tx
People are saying it's hurting them but they're tougher than you think and he isn't being that rough.
Ikr Tbh I saw one fall from my 3 story apartment and live
These are all over Texas
There are more here in Louisiana
WolfFang884 agreed
saquist Yeah were i am in texas, my cats are always eyeing them through or window
saquist I'm in texas now and I just tried to catch a baby but it ran away lol
He won't shut up about "flerda". They are actually everywhere. Tho, I live in Florida, and one step in the woods , boom 10 scatter from your foot. We just have the most because of our tropic yet desserty weather. I dunno why but we do. Tho they are EVERYWHERE.
I found a wild Anole with a broke jaw and nursed it back to health and realised it back into the wild. I found it many times after.(had scares on jaw)
lol i always put them on my ears as a kid too XD my dad showed me and it was funny haha
Doesn't that hurt?
+Savannah Vihlidal naaahh tiny little pinch is all you feel lol
WOW!! We have Green Anoles in North Carolina!!! Mine loves the front porch!!! :)
that lizard is functioning as ear bling
Wonderful video! My Florida backyard is covered in brown anoles they’re literally everywhere and they’re huge! We have maybe 2 green anoles who hide on my chicken coop and blend right into it. I love these lizards, I used to let them bite on my ears and pretend like they were earrings to scare my aunt LOL.
They're all over Louisiana. At least once or twice a year I find one in my house
ya alot are in Louisiana and there the same species they actually change color *cough* there retards*cough*
+Jullian LeJune actually, "green anoles" can be brown and/or green. the one he calls the "brown anole" is a bahaman anole, which stays brown.
They're in Texas too
I was playing around with one that I found and I was wondering why it's neck did that. Then the one in my room wanted to get close to her so I put him outside to enjoy her company.
hahah nice earring!
Love the anoles. Got a cutie shedding on my outside AC for the last few days. He never leaves, always remains in that spot. I try to look out for him.
I have 2 green Anoles and 11 brown Anoles I named everyone of them my 3 favorites are my 2 green Anoles 1 male and 1 female the female is Lime and the male is Lemon and my other favorite if Mable a little baby brown Anole female.
Lion Fox do u catch them outside?
I have 11 different species of lizards, 3 are green anole and 1 brown anole
Thats 4
Do you house them together
Do they hurt if or when they bite?
I had a green anole as my first reptile pet, she didn't make it(she passed away). She was very close to us, we found her when she was an egg, and I live in Dallas, Texas. Me and my sis would just let her run on our hands and take naps. I miss her very much, she actually passed away yesterday(July 1, 2020).😔
I have 2 anoles (females), their both very sweet and like to give me licks and likes to relax on my arm, very good pets
I have five of them now and they are funny little lizards. I have a video of two of my little anoles fighting when they were about 1 month old.
U get a like just because u used it as jewelry
So that's what they are! I used to catch these guys all the time in my youth.
Check out this vine of two green anoles I filmed on my front porch: vine.co/v/iPKKlaIJEQv
It bothers me the way he is handling them, it seems a bit too rough. :(
I've always tried to be gentle when handling my babies.
I hand mine like this all the time and they've been around for about 3 or 4 years, its fine
I have two pet anoles. They're easy to take care of and are fun little lizards.
your kinda squeezing them
not really i have them as pets live in florida
Did you catch them outside?
It builds character.
"Mini raptors"! I work in a hotel, and the green Anoles like to watch me from the hotel windows like the raptors watch the kids in the kitchen in Jurassic Park.
He is fucking hurting them! He is squeezing them and holding them by their heads! That's cruel!
True
k
no he is not if he held them different they will run and these animals are FAST!! or they will bite which can hurt
L0N3R it's not cruel it's normal
L0N3R I have an anole they're ok not hurt
bring him back he's the best part of the channel
your harasing them stop
He's a professional...
Mackenna Cline and you know that how?
Why would the let him do that, then?
idk who put that it might have been my sister so stop
You cant harass an animal
Yup, when I was a kid in the late 80's early 90's, down here in Florida, we use to clip them on our ears all the time.
Lol I always taught this was geckos
Day geckos are
Very beautiful animals. Thank you for the information. I hope the Green Anoles are being conserved with programs successfully.
Well considering he's an expert...he knew what he was doing...duh...-.-
Hawk Darrah 'you can do whatever you want to them and they calm down'.....yes, as a gigantic human being, you can inflict many tortures on them.
I'm holding my anole right now
What a wonderful video.
I see them in Texas all the time. They like to chill in my porch plants
I live in Florida and the brown anoles are all around. I find it so funny when I first moved down here and I thought that they were baby geckos... im not to sure if they are a species of gecko... but they are extremely fun to watch!
hi, they aren't geckos, anoles are from the family of iguanas (believe it or not) they are not related with geckos.
cool, thanks I would have never guessed that they are related to iguanas.
the difference is huge but that's true haha
Wow I'm visiting Disney World and have seen these lizards. It is as if you read my mind. You have officially confirmed my love for these creatures.thx
i just got an anole today coming back from ocean city. i have the green one.he turned brown a few times but i put his cage by the window to calm him down hes sooo cute!!!
I got mine couple days ago also from Ocean City and he is one chill little lizard ☺️
My little brothers used to use them as earrings as well when they were small back when we live in Puerto Rico (crested anole in Puerto Rico ) hilariously funny seeing little kids with lizard on their ears. ¡Que pabera! ¡Buenos recuerdos!
ah, memories. i was in south carolina and i caught these things countless times during the day
Dorkidot never take them from the wild they can have parasites
we have both of these all over our yard in the trees the flowers everywhere
we have them on our back porch and my favorite part is when they flare out there dewlap.
What about the pushups
I'm going to Orlando,Florida this summer and planning on seeing these guys
Those guys are everywhere in Texas. I once caught a gigantic 10 incher. I think the weather and prevalence of insects agrees with them. They love to bite, but if you turn them over and gently stroke their bellies they will fall into a hypnotic like state.
I got my green anole a few weeks ago and he has never bit me or tried to run away
I loves anoles whenever I go to Mississippi I catch tons of these all day
The ending haha, this guy is super funny the way he holds them like toys almost. Lol
Emiwolf Deviant Do you really? interesting. I'm more used to my laid back adult beardie. He is super lazy just riding my shoulder. Lets me move him around any which way. Lol.
I just hold them in my hand and they just stay there, I think they like the warmth
Currently stationed in Pensacola, and these cuties are everywhere on base.
Theres a green one living in my backyard I see him everyday. He just started puffing out his neck today so I looked up to see what that meant... apparently my backyard is his territory lol
I caught one outside a few minutes ago and she’s resting on my finger half asleep. She turned from brown to green idk what that means but I’m calling her Stacy for now (I always release them afterwards)
We have the green anoles in Texas and we love them!
I catch these cuties all the time in my back porch lanai. Iv'e only seen a few of the green ones...the brown ones are everywhere
I live in southeast Texas and they are everywhere!
Great information. I just saw two male Anole lizards fighting when I was hiking.
Thank you for a great explanation .. Take care ..
Well very good presentation of anoles. I've got a bunch of them in my yard they are so awesome.
Fascinating video dude! You should be on Animal Planet!
