Thank you for introducing me to this amazing watercolorist, Nicolas Lopez. The vagueness makes his painting mysterious. Just enough details to lure you in.
This artist is AMAZING!!! Thanks for the spotlight and discussion! It would be really cool to watch a video of you trying to duplicate the effects and style of this painter.
Hi. I have the privilegie to know Nicolas and, on some occasions, to see him working. No matter how many times you see him working, you will always be surprised and admired by the process and the result. He is certainly brilliant!
Been watching your videos for some time. I'm a beginner in watercolor painting or actually, art in general. I started, just a couple of weeks ago. This is my first time commenting. I just wanted to say that this artist's paintings really inspired me. I hope I'll get to his level someday, even if it takes me 50 years to get there. Really amazing art!
Hi Liron. In fact, what is shown in the first painting is tombstones. Here in Peru it is usual to "bury" dead people in some kind of walls. Fortunately I had the chance to met Nicolas the last year and could see his artistic process. He is a very nice guy and an skilled artist.
Liron, looking at these masters you demonstrate sort of gives me permission to spread out my way of using watercolour. So I find these videos so very wonderful for me. Thanks, Tzipora
Another set of gorgeous art! Especially the more monochromatic ones, a lot of them have a kind of, I don't know, ghostly, foggy feel - like they're illusions you're seeing the fog, and once the fog dissipates the landscape will disappear too. Beautiful use of light and shadow, and I love how he uses very precise details and very vague suggestions of shapes in the same painting. Gorgeous.
Liron, I loved your commentary & analysis in this presentation of this artist! Your enthusiasm is wonderful! I could actually “see” what you were explaining! Thanks for doing this for us! It’s truly an educational experience for me! More Masters Please! Be well, take care!
Brand ambassador for a reason :) Granulation master and a very nice refreshment in watercolor field . We , the ordinary mortals , we are just afraid to squeeze a 25$ DS tube and waste it on 20$ sheet of paper hahahhaha
Haha 😂 Yeah I get it. The several huge paintings I've done required me to "waste" so much paint. And even thought it's sometimes pricier paper, it still feels strange to waste a quarter tube in one squeeze!
The street at the eighth minute is just mesmerizing, I had to type this even before finishing watching the vid :-) thanks for introducing this guy (seems kinda effortless, don't you think, I mean as of techniques and light-handedness, because the subjects, ideas and the strokes are very original and the results highly vivid, despite the colors), Liron, this is amazing, as always
One more thing, Liron, a question - how do you think the texture in the pic starting at approximately the eleventh minute was done? Some kind of sand paper, or? Is it the structure of the paper itself? Probably not...
I assume you refer to the houses, I would say it’s a mix of very high level wet-in-wet (he really manages to keep the clarity of the scene, while still maintaining almost only soft edges). And then also some splashes of water, that create these lighter dots. And he also probably charges with a lot of paint and lets it flow downwards. Other than that I wouldn’t be able to tell if there’s anything else, it’s so different from what I do 😁 So there may be some other techniques and tricks I’m unfamiliar with!
Hi!! I've met Nicolas and I have seen his artistic process twice. His technique is based on: • Wet on wet: he usually works with a large amount of water and pigment and also uses a spray. • Paper: he uses coldpressed or rough (100% cotton) depending on what he wants to do. But his favourite paper is Don Bosco handmade paper (100% cotton very rough, it is a peruvian brand). • Pigments: the most importat to achieve that sandly effect is Lunar Black by Daniel Smith.

In the first painting, what you see are niches for dead bodies in cemeteries
Yah, they look like urn cubbies for cremations.
Nicholas Lopez is just amazing!!
YES, his technique is so unique and optimized for his style and approach! 😁

Wow. Thanks for analyzing his work.
The painting with the buildings and cars looks a lot like some of yours. Love them!
The second ship looks like a blurry photograph. Incredible.
Thank you, Liron, inspiring - a really magnificent artist!
I came across Lopez right when I first started painting, and he continues to inspire me. Great choice!
Amazing! So happy you found about him early on! 😁 How did you discover him?
Liron Yanconsky It was on Instagram somehow. Maybe Trupti through blue Pine arts in India had met him in Italy or something like that.
Love this guys work - so fresh and different!
Thank you for this inspiring video!!! Opens a new way of looking at watercolor and painting.
I am astonished! The third photo with the pole and all those wires looks like a photo.

Yes, I get a similar feeling looking at these 😁

Thank you Ladislav 😁🙏🏼 His work is really fascinating! So Happy you enjoyed this one (:
Thank you!
The first one...so cool, especially for cemetery lovers such as myself. The cemeteries in South America have a very European touch.
Bold, original, fascinating. Thank you for sharing with us. I will have to check him out on TH-cam. Would love to see him paint.
My pleasure Sally! He has a few painting videos (one in the description box). It’s really interesting seeing him create 😁
Fascinating. Very cool. Not at all trite and yet common subject matter. Soulful.
La primera pintura es un cementerio. Las ventanas son tumbas.
Terrific stuff, I did not know this artist. Thanks. I gotta practice a lot more textures, I guess. :-)
Nicolas is a cool guy, you must see its palette: probably 8 different blacks, some blue and white gouache
Haha amazing I’ll look it up! 😁
😎 thanks.
Hola! Conoces al acuarelista argentino Carlos Nine?
Buried in the walls

He used hummiarabic and black mars watercolour ground in his video

Nichos de cementerio, no ventanas.... saludos cordiales desde Argentina.
Thank you, I had a feeling it was a cemetery! We have similar ones here too
Very interesting to hear your input on these artists. Check out Thomas Schaller, one of my favorite watercolor artists who also has out some videos.
Check out Ratindra Das if you aren’t aware of him. I think you will enjoy his painting style.
It's a beautiful style 🤩 Added to my list! Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
