These and the Manas crabs were the only 01 sets I never got, and I always thought they had such a cool look. A little more fantastical than lots of the other rahi, and with really great colors. The scene in MNOLG is a highlight of 01, and the prototype sand tarakava is a really neat piece of supplemental info.
Loved the bath clips haha. Was lucky enough to score this and multiple other rahi off FB, they now sit proudly on my shelf. Love your videos as always!
I remember in kindergarten I got the turquoise one from my set confiscated by my teacher because another kid was jealous of it and told the teacher I was throwing it at other kids (obviously not true because it would have come apart). As far as I know it's still in Mrs. Doss' desk drawer >:l
I got these for my birthday one year. I requested a lot of the Rahi sets, but I only got these guys. I guess I should have known that my parents wouldn't spend a lot of money to buy all these sets at once. But hey, one's better than none. Although I did also get two Bohrok, but hey, I got the rest eventually anyway.
These were the only Bionicle set I had from 2001, though I didn't obtain it until August of '07. In retrospect, it is interesting that the Tarakava has a Mata blue Pakari, even though no character actually has that mask in said color. This set is also the least expensive way to obtain the "Voodoo Hooks" from Gali in white, and the Technic panels in Mata blue also came in the "Air Enforcer/Supercopter" (8444) from 1999. Similarly, the teal 2M friction pins made their final appearance here.
As long as I wasn't the only one thinking that 😅 My heart nearly stopped for a second. I don't see the id symbol on it that prototypes all have though.
After seeing the Sand Tarakava, I have a wish to see a Tarakava for every possible color/environment.
Lava Tarakava
Someone posted a picture of a bunch of recolors they made online
Always loved the Bionicle wildlife, made the whole world feel more alive. Thanks for the vid!

I got these for Christmas in 2001, I had such fun with them.

Lol, bathtime with bionicles!!
Good lord, is that a genuine yellow Ruru???

sometimes having the high ground can be a major disadvantage as seen from the tarakava nui
That poor Rubber Ducky.
Would love a parts list of the yellow terakava

I love the teal pieces, especially that Teal Kakama :D
I found the two tarakava sets nearly complete at an antique store in a sealed bag, and it was so cool to get my hands on the teal mask
Can the Tarakava Nui punch either of the Toa Kaita?
These and the Manas are the only Rahi I never got, they look interesting
Where did you get the yellow Ruru from anyway?
Tarakava nui vs toa kaita when?
We could’ve gotten LEGO rock em sock em
