back when I was a kid, I don't understand Gloc 9's songs but I'd enjoy listening to it. Now I'm grown and I deeply understand all of his songs.
Je découvre cette chanson juste en faisant des recherches sur internet sur le prénom Magda, ce n'est pas une de mes vidéos enfin la musique m'a plu même si je ne comprends pas les paroles car je ne connais point la langue, je comprends à peu près selon le clip donc je la partage sur ma page fb. Peut-être que c'est connu ou pas, un post relayé peut lancer parfois une carrière internationale 😉. En tout cas, je ne connaissais pas jusqu'à aujourd'hui.

It deals about one of the social problems. The song is all about the woman named "Magda/Magdalena" who became a prostitute because of poverty. It's not easy for her to escape the "cage". The man (Ernesto) fell in love with Magda (his long-time friend). He did his best to find Magda but the latter felt she was not worthy of Ernesto's love.

for those foreign peeople's that dont understand tagalog, this song magda is based on true to life story and its not just only based on the protagonist on the story but it also happens to a lot of us.
"bakit di ka makawala sa kadena, at sa gabi gabi ikaw ay nasa selda na hanap buhay mo ngayon. (translated to- why cant u escape the chain? and everynight you are in a cell which is your job.) the word cell direct as a "BAR". so that means "Magda" works in the club bar, considering her as a str*pper or a h*e. and she cannot escape this job.
theres a lot of reason why people do this kind of jobs, one reason is poverty, this leaves many of us no choice but to do the unthinkable and do the worst decision ever..
but as we hear on the music video, "alam naman naten na dati kang nena at sa iyong ama ikaw ay princesa, anong nangyari sayo?". (translated to- we all know that you used to be a sweet child back then and to your father, you are a princess but now what happened to you?) it seems like magda had a great childhood, but a lot wonder why she choses that job, in my personal view. i think she really choses and wants to be like it, i think she was influenced by some friends do this type of things while her mind is still innocent. this makes her think that this is the right thing to do.. so she fell for it and soon regreted it.
while "Ernesto" his friend, we all know that ernesto likes magda when they were teen, but Magda already had a lover so ernesto decided to let her go. but as year past. magda recalls on ernesto's mind and he decided to go in manila (a city) to find magda. he find the "place" that magda "work". when he enters the place, ernesto seems to wonder why is it so dark. as he goes further. he saw a lot of people drinking. this leaves him clueless but he still waits. after, he heard a slow song, he then saw Magda but he got shocked, to see Magda dancing with just shoes on, full na*ked. Ernesto soon realized that Magda is now a str*pper.
