This was so profound for someone like me who has just diagnosed in her 40s with ADHD and mild OCD and other mild things to hear Howie’s story. Mind blowing and informative 🙏🏻 Thank you Bill. I was a huge fan of you as long as I can remember learning English and coming to LA (a girl who was born and raised Muslim in fucking Iran until I was 30) and even though I’ve found it that you can be arrogant and ass hole some times but I admit that knowing you was just liberating for me. You are my secret precious thing that I watch alone because no one around me in my family can understand your point of views although I became atheist since I was 22 and was still living in Iran without any help from you and other great western thinkers.
I once emailed your HBO show years ago to come and see your show in person but I couldn’t come to the conclusion to exploit my love and admiration for you because it’s very personal to me.

Thank You Howie!! I have agoraphobia stemming from a traumatic event (tied up and almost murdered) and my mother has OCD I think from her Dad dying young & her mother was narcissistic & cruel. I appreciate Howie being open about irrational fear. Because even if it did stem from an event anyone would be afraid of, it comes to a point of knowing you are fuct - and realizing, now what do I do? And those answers are few & far in these young days of psychology- but we all can and MUST have hope.

I would guess if my mother had partaken of a trampoline or rebounder in her 50's she would possibly have avoided the issues that plague her at 71. Complete loss of balance, atrophy of large muscle groups, and extreme anxiety at the potential physical injuries she may incur just by walking to the bathroom and falling down on her way there (broken humerus and 3 cracked ribs at thr moment).
Get that rebounder and bounce away. Start small and maintain.

How can you not love Howie Mandel? His standup, while not for everyone in the year 2022, was still special. It was unique. Howie was a true original. Got to give him props for that. Back in the 80s, his comedy was universally funny to everyone. He was a standout comic, definitely a bonafide member of the top echelon of comics. His name was up there with all the top comics of the day. Just knowing his back-story is a gift. The same way we all can relate to Robin Williams’ human background, his addiction, his personal pain, it’s the same with Howie. It makes them both extra special & beloved.

I always knew he was funny but this interview has explained so much for me. Facing your fears on a daily basis is something many folks do without anyone noticing. Great to hear them laugh at the world together.

I had OCD that plagued me from my teenage years. I scored extremely high on the Yale Brown test. I had bad compulsions that crippled me too but the obsessions were the most awful thing ever. I woke up with them and went to bed with them. It had me completely shut down and unable to work or function for over 20 years. I couldn't be around people, I couldn't read books or watch tv or listen to the radio. It all triggered the most awful obsessions. I was shut down and daily tortured.
Finally my physical symptoms got so bad I got to an immunologist. I had figured out that wheat made me feel physically sick and I was telling him that and he told me that OCD can be caused by wheat. I stopped using wheat and my OCD is gone. Not reduced but completely gone. If I get wheat in me then it rages back and I'm in it for 3 to 5 days depending on the severity of the exposure.
Unfortunately I don't have celiacs. Mine is more like a peanut contact allergen so if I touch it or smell it or eat wheat I get sick. It's not just wheat. Anything with gluten and gliaden like barley. There are a number of things.
Here's a link to the first medical case study of a child getting near perfect relief from OCD with allergen exposure cessation. I hope it helps somebody. This disease is torture and nobody should have to live like that.

14:07 Howie WAS hypnotized on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT and was shaking hands with the other judges freely because he was made to believe they were all wearing plastic gloves. Watching it made me think the hypnotist, Chris Jones, was acting unethically.

I think this podcast was a very smart move. It's clearly not a way for him to get out of his HBO contract even if for the sake of argument it blows up and becomes on the biggest podcasts. You can tell Bill wants to do Real time for however long HBO allows him to and he's physically able to. He just now happens to have a level of security if the day comes like it did with Larry King leaving CNN. He can then do this and then do some additional content. If the itch of still talking about news in a weekly or Bi weekly basis is still there when the moment comes.
It's a win win for both parties really.
