  • Adam is pleased to welcome Bill Maher in studio for a one-on-one interview. The guys begin by discussing his Bill’s new show, ‘Club Random’. Adam then asks Bill about his upbringing in New Jersey, as well as his experiences in school, and his relationship with his parents. From there guys talk about Bill’s interview with Ben Shapiro on the topic of childhood obesity. Later they talk about why Bill doesn’t want to be around kids, and they share thoughts on everything from COVID vaccines to the afterlife. In the last part of the show, the guys talk about the problems with our two-party system, and Adam asks Bill about his daily health regiment.
Subscribe to ‘Club Random’, and watch ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’. Also follow him on Twitter & Instagram @BillMaher.

I grew up in the 1990s and had pretty much the same sort of "unsupervised" childhood that Bill and Adam reminisce about. Anyone who shared that experience appreciates the tasting notes of hose water, and probably microwaved a CD or two, but that's a good trade off (although I really do enjoy water from the hose), for learning how to be independent and deal with peers without needing to run to the nearest authority figure to whine.

Both of these guys only know rich people and elitist kids....so their view is very narrow of parenting. I raised kids in the 90's and I did have to buck the system to allow my kids to have free play time after school. I had to look at what the California state standard of homework was and I would time it and when the timer was up I drew a line on their homework. Signed that the state time had been met and my kids were going to be kids for a few hours now. The teachers hated me but my kids played outside with neighbors and were creative and did all sorts of science projects with mud or started a art gallery on the corner of the street to make $...no they didn't go onto Yale or Stanford. .but they are kind, hard working, independent adults who have huge hearts and great work ethic. Two of my all time favorite personalities together! Been listening to both for years and love their take on so many things, just about everything. When it comes to Bill one of the only areas I find indifference with him on is kids. I am a married, 45 year old Gen Xer with two boys aged 5 and 9. When it comes to Bills thoughts on kids I don't totally disagree with him but as a parent when it comes to trying to convey what it's like to be a parent and be a parent now to someone who doesn't have kids it's almost impossible. You can have your thoughts and ideas and what not but it's an experience like having fought in a war. One example: he talks about the kids ruling the parents and to a point I agree, some parents are complete pushovers. But what you don't realize is that even if your hardcore like me and you have kids like mine it's a constant battle and believe me you're going to give in. And you have too. Another thing is letting the kids just go do there own thing, be back when you hear the six o'clock bell or whatever. Yeah maybe if you live really nice neighborhood or they are a certain age and you know you've taught them to be street smart and what not but where I live which is not a totally horrible neighborhood but with it's half way houses and sex offenders in the area it's not safe and the thought of losing a kid especially to someone that will do horrible things to them (Jacob Wetterling was abducted 15 miles from where I live). It's a tough game and it doesn't take much to Being a parent for me is about being the one in charge but not to the point of being completely inflexible, allowing them freedom yet keeping them safe, etc. Again I love Bill but I just don't think he quite gets what it like to raise kids especially in this time and place.

The opposite is actually true, the far right empire will collapse and the far left will win, until there’s another empire.

I actually wish he did the same political show but in this format. Not 6 panel guest bickering and the crowd cheering non stop. Be able to knock out deep topics with completion. The country needs that desperately now

@A 💯. I enjoyed his talk with Shapiro but Be ‘a add things are annoying. Bill on Joe Rogan was great. The politically charged conversations he has needs long form discussion. Not quick pithy one liners that gets the crowd all riled up. Anyway. Maybe it will incorporate that a bit

The crowd is worse than the panel. It's like sprinkling bird seed in front of pigeons. Call George Bush dumb and get a laugh. Call him a dumb idiot to get a larger laugh. The once or twice a show when Bill points out a glaring example of the hypocrisy of the left still makes the show worth watching.

@@greatlakes4753 the problem with the audience is two fold. One, the audience is all LA people so they all tend to lean a certain direction. The other is the prompters telling them to 'laugh' or 'clap.' It makes for a very obnoxious crowd.

Totally right I was watching the song remains the same and it totally stood out how thin everybody in the crowd was, back then we had one fat guy in high school maybe two, did they get shamed yes, but they also weren’t so fragile they couldn’t handle it

Bill is a guy that’s interesting in a good way. He is at the tip of the spear of trying to reform his own party...I very much appreciate what he’s doing...most of the time.
