Cut-Rate Commander - Episode 84 - 15k Giveaway - Featuring Brenard, Ginger Sculptor from Wilds of Eldraine #mtg #edh #commander #mtgwoe
Hey Folks! Its been a heck of a ride these past few years and, thanks to all of your support, the channel has finally reached its 15k Subscriber milestone. So, in order to celebrate, I thought it would only be right to have this event catered by none other than the Gingerbread Man himself - Brenard, Ginger Sculptor - and, since he's already here, we may as well make an build with him and give you all a chance to win it for yourselves.
Now, in this build, we'll be going all in on ETB/Self Sacing creatures and Sac Outlets/Effects in order to get maximum value out of Brenard's on death food golem creation - aiming to get double the value out of all out of our creature base while building up our board with an army of delicious but deadly tokens. Of course, that means we'll be running plenty of splicers in the build to create more golems, power them up, and eventually power themselves up when they turn into golems, a decent selection of golems outside of tokens ones that we can get double the use of, and of course, plenty of ways to sac them ourselves - with a particular emphasis on Pod style effects to not only proc out commander, but to also replace the creature we sac with another one from our deck to keep building up our baordstate - until our opponents are crushed underneath the weight of our Gingerbread Army.

Important note academy manufacturer is a replacement effect so the food golem will just be a normal food, clue and treasure so coiling oracle is fine where it is.
I've always loved your builds because not only are they within my budget since I love to theory craft so many different decks, but they're usually contain all star cards that you don't see anywhere else and are uniquely fitted for what the commander and playstyle suits in a way that a typically "staple" card wouldn't. Splicers are cool but I think this commander likes sac creatures like Spore Frog, Cathar's Commando, Steve, Range-Captain of Eos, etc. You don't need to play Golems as Brenard produces those golems for you while gaining lots of value. I think of this commander as a Legendary Nightmare Shepherd or Luminous Broodmoth rather than a Golem lord.

Love the budget builds, I actually build quite a few budget decks for my friends and I to try on cockatrice to change the pace/flavor of our games. It's pretty refreshing to see another person's take on how to build a commander efficient yet budget, plus you tend to always include a card or 2 that I totally forgot about including. Academy Manufactor doesn’t work like that, unfortunately. Because of the way it is worded, when you create the food golem, Manu will override and create a generic food, clue and treasure token; not giving you the golem anymore. This is due to the fact it is worded as if you would creating a food (golem), INSTEAD, create one of each generic.
Congratulations on hitting your 15K milestone so quickly, I've greatly enjoyed your content for several years now have built/in the process of building many of the decks you brewed on your channel, including many I would never have considered. I hope you are feeling better now and all the best to you.

EDIT: At 27:36 you mention Academy Manufactor as an upgrade. However, as it is an "instead" effect it will replace your Food Golem with generic Clue, Food and Treasure tokens and the Food will not be a creature. Just a heads up for that nonbo.
