Thank you for halloween projects BEFORE halloween starts 🙏 So many crafty things post too close to seasons and there's not enough time to get materials ready
I was gifted several tools after a friends dad passed away. One tool was a small band saw like yours. For me it is perfect because I don't use it often but it is really nice to have it when I need it. I don't do large projects so the size isn't really a limitation for me. Thank you for showing off the new tool.
I like this! Maybe a tip to help - I saw someone sticking a spring in the cutter, to help with removing the circle. I haven't tried it yet, but it looked efficient.
Cool upgrade from the original. I made a half a dozen of them as gifts. Still have one in my shop. I also made one of your North Pole mail boxes for a local children's center and several of your shadow boxes. Neat to be reminded of these old projects from the days when TH-cam was worth the time thanks to you and Matthias.
Hey Steve, don't know if it helps but I try to keep a wire brush handy when using a hole saw. I find it helpful to clean the teeth with the brush while it's spinning.
I have the exact bandsaw, in fact, I own quite a few Wen tools. I am by no means a woodworker building fine furniture. Wen tools do what I need them to do and the price point gets me tools that I may not want to mortgage my house to own (Festool). This 9" bandsaw is perfect for the intricate cuts that you made in this video (remake!!). One of the best uses I get out of this bandsaw is when it is time for the pinewood derby for my son's cub scout pack. We have a workshop about a week before the derby where we setup a bunch of tools for the kids to use to shape and build their cars. Although they do not get to use the bandsaw, it works perfectly for those types of applications. I am glad to see others using tools that us mere mortals use often.
0:32 "This would be a good project to use MDF on, since it's gonna be painted." Steve, that's what I love about the 'mere mortals' vibe on this channel! Some other channels (no doubt 'showing off') will just casually grab a more expensive piece of wood than 99% of their viewers can afford. "Uh, here, let me grab this piece of spalted maple I just happen to have. Should hold the paint really well!"
I think this was my favorite WWMM projects I ever did of yours. I even remade it for like 3 other holidays. I just rewatched the original from like 10 years ago to compare the techniques from then to now. Amazing how things have changed with how you film and build things. You're the best Steve! I wish I knew about the heat gun trick to remove your templates.. Uggh. Would have made my life so much easier. Note - On all of them I had to make the little dowel hole on the plexi a hair bigger than the dowel.. it allows for a more slop, better alignment and lets the spinner disk thing to move easier.
Steve I can't wait to see this year's Halloween episode. They have been a joy watching over the last 11 years. Thanks for all the great advice and enjoyment.
That sawstop is perfect for acrylic cutting, i work in an acrylic fab shop, and we have 2 of em. Just a heads up , if you ever wana cut mirrored acrylic be sure to turn on the bypass. It'll set off the brake cartridge, and they're expensive to replace
There’s nothing more Steve Ramsey than using the paper plans to load in the skittles. Love it, but hoping this isn’t in place of the Halloween video. I always look forward to that one!
Steve, thank you so much for always remembering to bring back memories from your past videos! I wish you the best of luck with your next project, I know from my heart you will bring joy to us all. Happy Halloween!!
The dowel and small circle glue joint is a perfect place for a thin CA glue as it wicks in all by itself, but of course the wood glue works as well. Looks like a fun project!
3:25 heyyy new tattoo!? What's the significance of the time bar? 🤔 PS- loved the candy machine, only thing may add is a locking arm for the back so doesn't fall over with over eager candy eater 😂
i saw you make this in the past and i enjoyed then too I have a suggestion though if you drill another like half moon shape on the other side of that turning nob you will always fill it with more candy every time you turn it to drop out the candy
It's a cute project, and inspiration to some improvements, for example, I can see how it might be improved with an open dish at the mouth, as a lower jaw, to make it easier to get the candies. All kinds of things. As for the Bandsaw I was thinking one day to get one; Your new 9" does look a tad small like you said. I've heard for a small shop that 14" is ideal, and wasn't that the size of your old bandsaw? And besides handling project, did you feel that was comfortable size in a garage workshop? I remember that video when your bandsaw broke... The issue is always floor space and you were happy to get it out of there... Seems a bandsaw is semi-essential when you need to make small projects... and I do that for my Halloween projects. (New video posted on my Channel... a Beware of Spooks sign that could have been made easier with a bandsaw if I had one) P.s. Thanks Steve for your Halloween special... I knew the upbeat song was a ruse to make me think happy thoughts... you've got a wonderful evil streak about you. LOL
This is so cool! The possibilities are endless with this design. You could do an alien or something silly with an even taller head to fit more candy/ bigger pieces. I love it. Thanks Steve!
Hey, Steve. This was a fun walk down memory lane for me. I made one many years ago using the original plans. I made it for my daughter's then best friend. She took it with her when she moved to Japan. Do they have Skittles in Japan? Oh, well. I enjoyed watching you build this one. I have some great grandkids now. Maybe, I should make one for each of them. Thanks for the video.
@@SteveRamsey When my students made these in the school shop we painted them with water based tempera paint. The kids went nuts with color schemes and they could mix whatever custom colors made them happy. I made both matte and high gloss water based polyurethane available for top coating. With light sanding between coats they could get a really nice finish. Several kids had the idea of using double and triple layers to make the cranium, cutting the ocular recesses only in the front layer and the circular feed wheel and dispenser slot only in the back, and cutting the cross bones on alternate layers. They got pretty clever. Some kids started using the Dremel and some hand carving tools to make the bones more realistic. I regret not taking some photos to send you before I retired.
Wouldn’t this be ideal for a scroll saw? It seems like people are really trying to get rid of those around here, as there’s plenty on the used market and they can be had for cheap … not so much so for a decent bandsaw
I can't believe you can build an entire TH-cam project without a CNC laser cutter... Where does the quarter go in? 😂 Fun project! Perfect for your favorite holiday!
why wouldnt he stay safe? why you keep saying this in every channel? You got some stuff to deal with? You want to put some damage on these channels? you sound like a creep bro
Hola! 🖐Great project! I'm going to make some of these for the grandkiddos. You know, fill them up with candy and let Mommy and Daddy deal with the consequences. Haha! Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
I have always enjoyed your projects, especially those for holidays. I liked this one so much that I decided to buy the plans. However, I had a bit of sticker shock when I saw the price in my cart for just the plans for this project.
This is awesome, could totally see a "Mars Attacks" version of this with Alien Brains in it. Could use a little trigger with a raspberry pi and add that "ack ack" sound they make whenever you get some candy XD (for context th-cam.com/video/wTDUuBWGtpU/w-d-xo.html)

New meaning to a "sugar skull". I really like that it can be made mostly with scraps. Thank you, Steve!
didn't you do this- years ago? i remember it....😊
This reminds me so much of my childhood some 60 years ago!!! Ahh, eating candy out of the mouth of the dead. How nostalgic!
What a nice project, Steve. Really clever and perfect to get the kids involved in, too!
The original video on this candy dispenser is one of my favorite halloween themed episode from you, I regularly watch those from time to time.

Got it ready just in time and the kids loved it! Thanks, Steve!
That's a neat little project Steve. I'll bet my grandkids would like that. 😊😊😊❤
@steveramsey, could you post the salad tongs template. It’s my favorite of your bandsaw projects. The link to it on your old website no longer works.
Simple and fun! Great job sir!
The easel stand is a nice addition from the one you made a few years back. I absolutely love this project!
Thanks. It's hard to believe that was 12 years ago! 😬

This is a great little project for kids gifts.
what a spooktacular dispenser!
Nick engler on workshop companion has a video on resawing Walmart on a bandsaw just like that using a simple jig
Great idea for the kids thanks for sharing
Great fun project Steve, thanks for that !
The alvvays poster in the background is a vibe! Plus he mentioned crying in h mart in the newsletter. Certified cool dude here folks

Such a fun project
Steve, thank you so much for always remembering to bring back memories from your past videos! I wish you the best of luck with your next project, I know from my heart you will bring joy to us all. Happy Halloween!!
I love these throwbacks to old projects! Steve, I think we need to redo the OG chessboard! The project that started it all!
hey steve! I still remember this old project along with the Candy Plinko from one of your old videos, we would love to see you upgrade that one!👍🏻
That 20% tilt keeps the candies from falling out 😱
Awesome project
Aww that's a nice little project! That must have been fun to build! Might also work with an alien head or a creepy clown's head!
The dowel and small circle glue joint is a perfect place for a thin CA glue as it wicks in all by itself, but of course the wood glue works as well. Looks like a fun project!
Cool little project Steve! Have you started your Halloween video yet? I haven’t started mine. Hope I have time this year😂
Awesome. Thanks, Steve!
woohoo! Might just have to make one.
Fun project getting ready for Halloween. 👻
This is great!

Great project, Steve. My 6 y/o wants me to build it right now!
Thanks Steve!
What brand of Forstner bits do you have? i cant say i have ever seen any Purple accented bits before
This looks like a ton of fun.
Very cool
Great video! Love your project builds. (but miss the background music)
Sort of looks like the Martians from "Mars Attacks". Cute project!
Steve has posted the Halloween project for this year SO - Halloween may officially begin! !! !!!
Thanks Steve
Thanks for sharing.
Love the large drawer cabinet behind you at the start of the video. But without
some kind of labels, how do you remember what's in what drawer ? :-))
I group hardware in zones.
Maybe add a strip of LED's inside the rim of the container for spooky ('radioactive brain') effect...

Ack, ack-ack!
@@billbentley9831 Mars Attacks! Exactly what I was thinking when I wrote the comment lol
What's the tattoo on your forearm Steve? Can't quite make it out. Looks pretty cool though
hi Steve, what type of blade do you use on your bandsaw?
Very cool Steve
Love this Halloween project. Nice and fun
Now THAT is a neat idea!

You could make a different shaped one for each of them, e.g. a ghost, pumpkin, etc.
genial Steve , saludos desde buenos aires
The handle should've been bone shaped! Great idea though, seems like a great gift too
Very Cool Steve
Super cute idea! Would there be any issue with the painted surfaces being food safe?
That's what I was wondering.
Just make sure it's dry and not lead based. 👊

Great project. Thanks ☺
You had me at "This skull spits Skittles."
So cool!
This is really awesome! Nice work!
Very cool Steve. Love the imaginative projects!
That looks like a fun build Steve. Taste the rainbow.
Pretty cool Steve! With Halloween around the corner I have to get my daughters back in the shop for some fun decor!
14:48 Lol, some light reading material?
To be extra evil for Halloween, mix M&Ms with Skittles!
Wouldn’t this be ideal for a scroll saw? It seems like people are really trying to get rid of those around here, as there’s plenty on the used market and they can be had for cheap … not so much so for a decent bandsaw
you are so much more fun than bourbon and malecki
Great project!
Just don't play any Slim Whitman around it 😁
I can't believe you can build an entire TH-cam project without a CNC laser cutter... Where does the quarter go in? 😂
Fun project! Perfect for your favorite holiday!
Q: "Why do you wear a helmet?"
A: "I need to protect my Skittle-spitter."
Skittle spittle. Delicious.
Brilliant work, Steve! Really beautiful candy machine!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
why wouldnt he stay safe? why you keep saying this in every channel? You got some stuff to deal with? You want to put some damage on these channels? you sound like a creep bro
Jed Clampett? 😂 LOL 😊
cool
On your next one, you may consider making the eyes googly eyes! Everyone loves googly eyes!
Hola! 🖐Great project! I'm going to make some of these for the grandkiddos. You know, fill them up with candy and let Mommy and Daddy deal with the consequences. Haha! Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
Now that was a pretty scary build Steve! Happy Halloween..... ☠☠👽👽🎃🎃💀💀
Just in time 🍻
where have you been man ? glad your back thx for the video
Posting videos as usual. 🤷♂️
Does Steve have a new tattoo? I noticed a shaved forearm....Great video.
I just realized, the Halloweens video is coming....Woohoo
Aren't those candies banned in CA?
Skittles? Apparently not.
The bill was updated to drop a certain chemical found in Skittles, so Skittles live on.
I have always enjoyed your projects, especially those for holidays. I liked this one so much that I decided to buy the plans. However, I had a bit of sticker shock when I saw the price in my cart for just the plans for this project.
The price is listed before you put anything in your cart.
:22 YEAH! TAKE THAT APPLE!!!
Put peanuts in it and name him Peanut Head... or Peanut Brain... lol
I like it, but would have opted for googly eyes.
He barfs brains, but his brain are skittles, so it's not so bad.
😂thanks that's great 👍
cute
Now make it spit M&M's.
scary!
