Defold was always a no-go for me due to it using Lua, and I didn't want to learn another language (JS/TS and C# is already hard enough to keep up with). But now that I've done some research it sounds like an amazing engine. It can export to a lot of platforms, it's free, it's performant, it has features like IAP, it has low file sizes, etc. I'm definitely going to try it out! Btw, it looks like your channel is the most popular Defold channel, so I'll subscribe. :)
I'm learning more and more, I use now Movavi and it has a lot of filter options, I hope next videos are better :D I also plan to write a letter to Santa for a new microphone xD I hope I was good this year!
Started learning on Unity a few months ago, found Defold a few weeks ago and been in love since. Having everything in one place is handy, easy-ish (for me) to pick up and learn, and the opportunities the foundation has available to the community looks unrivaled. I’m glad I was able to find a channel with tutorials to help expedite my learning. Thank you for providing tutorials for this great engine. Also, love the Deadpool end scene 😂
First Defold release in 2023 will probably introduce Frustum Culling for meshes (it's in beta now, so I didn't mention it) 😉 I'm also waiting for PBR examples and finishing Rive extension 🤩
Thanks for starting this channel, I look forward to seeing it grow. I'm an old 8-bit retro guy who's been playing around with Pico-8, I like Lua so Defold seems to be the sensible next step. I also like the devs small monthly updates rather than dumping a massive update at random intervals.
Fantastic rundown of the year which really highlight all the work the devs and community has done! Thank you for putting this together in such a concise and enjoyable video!
Hi I don't use Defold but watch and like all your videos, because think that this engine deserves to be more popular and have more tutorials on TH-cam. Good luck, friend.I hope your channel will become for Defold something like GDQuest for Godot.
Nice video! thanks for all of your content! but a question, how did you do at 5:40 that light effect? can you show us your tecnique? :( i'm about months to understand how to make it. Thanks again for all of your support!
I simply have the very similar solution for lighting as in Defold team's open source example here: github.com/britzl/publicexamples/tree/master/examples/simple_lights - there is a step-by-step introduction, ready to use code and an example (with live HTML5 demo) - if you will have questions, ask on forum or Discord, we will help ☺ I'm preparing a video tutorial about shaders and rendering pipeline, but it will take some time to make it good, so please, be patient and stay tuned! 😉
A short off topic question (sorriii): From which movie or TV-show is the sequence at the beginning? Looks interesting... Nice video, nevertheless. Focusing on Godot atm, but will have a decent look on Defold, too:-)

2022 has been a pretty great year for Defold, can't wait to see what we'll get this year!

i like defold but , i hate dark theme , is possible use light theme?
yep. I saw light theme on defold forum
You can also define your own style using stylesheets: defold.com/manuals/editor-styling/ 😉

It's from Enola Holmes 2 (there is a title added in the bottom right corner at the beginning ;) ) I recommend the movie too! :D
It's so difficult to choose free game engine.
