Not so many Defold tutorials out there, thanks for your time in making these! Any thoughts on using Rive in Defold? Would be nice to have an opinion from an expert Defold developer.
все отлично! но мое ведро не может загрузить картинку spritesheet_tiles.png (слишком большой размер, ну для моего ведра) ну или как не может с 3 попытки я смог!
I felt a bit letdown because walkthrough wasn't the "promised" pixel art bunny. Because it was pixel art and it comes with it's own problems (blury sprite) that was side stepped by using hi-res sprites. In all game engines I've always used sprite sheets and atlas doesn't support that and manual didn't mention any solution. Luckily I found mention in forum about using Tilesource for that. In my oppinion pixel art games are the best option for tutorials since they encounter most problems that otherwise will leave frustrated those that are pursuing pixel art. As an example tile seams might go unnotices in hi-res and same for collision gaps. And as a major thing is camera zoom/ viewport scale. Nonetheless I'm waiting for movement coding.
Thanks for the feedback! ❤️ Rushing with explanation, in my previous tutorial series I used pixel art and hence here I wanted to use hi res assets, that also comes with their own problems I will try to tackle in the next parts 😉
there is like no devlogs about games made in defold what about after finishg the platformer serie make some devlog about youre game to grow audience and show the power of defold
after exploring the platformer tutorial project for hours, 8:57 "use the space key". i could not for the life of me find that important bit of info anywhere.
nice, wasnt following the tutorial at all but i wanted to see what the engine looked like because game engines like unity, unreal and stuff just confuse me. But nice tutorial
i was about to watch it when i noticed its only part 1 and its been 2 whole months since the upload.....sooo what's the point watching it if there is no and maybe wont even be a part 2 ??
I wonder why almost all platformer tutorials are using the same assets. There are lots of other free assets. When so little effort is put into finding new assets you suspect little effort is put into making a good tutorial.
I chose it mainly because of its popularity - recognizable assets are attracting more game developers ;) I suspect most tutorial creators thought similarly :D On the other hand, for the Space Shooter tutorial I spent some time looking for a decent assets that have everything included and I don't think that one is so popular :D
yeeeeeee, we are waiting for the nexts! thanks for all of your support on defold!
Sorry for waiting, second part is up now!
Awesome. Now needed part 2 😀

I'm not using it much now, but I want to try it more and plan to make a video on it 😁
what to do when you have a whole spritesheet in one file ?
you extract the files
все отлично! но мое ведро не может загрузить картинку spritesheet_tiles.png (слишком большой размер, ну для моего ведра) ну или как не может с 3 попытки я смог!
Can you do a tutorial series on 3d.
On general 3D or a 3D platformer? I think I can, but for now I have to complete this series ;)

Yeah, I plan it, but also - I'm learning how to make interesting devlogs :D
@@unfolding_gamedev nice keep up

No way! 😁 It's literally point number 2. on how to draw tilemaps in the manual: defold.com/manuals/tilemap/
@@unfolding_gamedevso now you know i'm not smart or perceptive, i apparently skipped over the components section and missed 'Tilemap'.
@@rkennett79 I hope there's nothing stopping you from reading it again! 😁 Kidding, we all overlook a ton of things all the time, no worries 😉

Oh, nice 😁 and is Defold confusing you as well or not? 😁
@@unfolding_gamedevnot at all. Can’t wait to start making games with defold. And my favorite thing is that its cross platform

So sorry for such a long wait time between (there were vacations and I had home renovation), but second part is up now!
