  • Today we are testing two eBikes with the exact same specifications except for the motor winding. Both feature 150A controllers and top out at 12600 W but one has a QS205 5T and the other QS205 4T. They also have the same tires and the same wheel sizes. Also the same 3,5 kWh battery. We made ósme acceleration test as well as vmax. Which motor to choose in Your eBike? Are these Hubmotors suitable for Your future powerful eBike? One way to find out! Let's watch!

    If you have good battery and controller you can accelerate fast with 3t motor just need to set max phase amps. In other words low turn motor needs more phase current to gain torque while high turn motor has better torque at low phase current.

      Starting torque adjustment.
      The throttle max volt should be set the same as the value which was inspected when the throttle was fully twisted after power on.
      Improve the starting torque by reducing the value of “throttle middle volt” which is between “3.5V~2V”.And by raise the throttle middle phase current one can improve the starting torque as well.
      -----1)For the controller with a limiting DC current is 60-80A,it is recommended to set the throttle middle phase current 60-120A.
      -----2)For the controller with a limiting DC current is 80-100A,it is recommended to set the throttle middle phase current 80-150A.

      The acceleration or deceleration time
      The less the “acceleration time” or “deceleration time” is, the faster the throttle will response ,(It is forbidden that the time set over 2000ms); One could adjust the parameter to suit own driving habit within the range (less than 2000ms)

    Technically I can have the best of both 3.5T and 5T by this setup right?

      No, mxus works the same way too. Lower the T rating, faster you will go but accelleration will be slower. This also compromises the efficiency on hill climbing, while a 3t motor hill climbing efficiency might be somewhere around 60%, a 4t will have a 65-70% efficency (just examples)

    • @eastwood111
      @eastwood111 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Electric motors are just rated for power, It’s not a set number. basically, if you have a motor that’s rated for 12 kW it means that it could withstand that power/heat forever. You can peek electric motors typically three or four times they’re rated number for short periods of time. Just because the bike is 12 kW doesn’t mean it’s always using 12 kW. The 12 kW would only happen if you’re going uphill or from a standstill acceleration. Once the bike is rolling at speed, it doesn’t use much power to maintain the speed. Hope that helps!

    Hey guys, I have a QSMOTOR 72VMDS50H211104 1053 and I have no idea which model and how many turns it is. I emailed QSMOTOR and got no response. Any idea which one it is? Also, I' m struggling to tune it. I have an outdated, rebranded fardriver 80/300 and after I tuned it, the bike shuts off nearly every time at the same spot when i commute home (40 km uphill mostly). It didn't shut off on the stock tune, i forgot to save the settings so no idea what they were, and when i turn the bike back on everything is fine. I don't think it's BMS related as my voltage sag isn't all that bad and i have over 50% battery remaining when it does trip. I've tried as low as 60 line current, 180 phase and it still tripped. Using my laser temp gun, the outside of the motor goes as high as 115F which to me, isn't very hot but that's the outside, not the inside. I am a heavy guy, about 265lbs with all my moto gear on. My battery is a 72v 41ah LG cells, 150a BMS 2995.2 whatt hours. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

    nice vid but you guys have your wires crossed... a higher turn count won't be more efficient (at least not by much) when climbing. KV/Turn count doens't actually effect the torque efficiency of the motor much, at best only a few % over a very wide range. Yes, you get more torque from the same controller/battery combo and settings, but you'll produce more heat in the process (in the higher turn count motor). you can get the same torque out of a lower turn count motor with more phase amps (though phase wires are limited in size through the axle so you'll have some higher losses there) - might mean a bigger controller but calling them 'high torque' and 'high speed' is a bit of a misnomer. Only caviate is that the copper fill needs to be the same for torque per heat to be the same.

    • @minde28383

      yes, that's they theory on paper but do you see that in real circumstances they showed you that lower kv has better torque

    • @94e88
      @94e88 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have two bikes like in the video, the speed going up a hill at let's say 35kmh is closer to the max speed of the higher wound motor bringing the effiency up.
      An electric motor is usually the most efficient at max speed or atleast 90% of the max speed. Bringing that top speed down means that you are closer to the top speed, bringing the effiency curve down so you'll constantly be in a higher part of the effiency curve regardless of speed. A higher wound motor is more efficient, but can't spin as fast.

    • @sn0wchyld
      @sn0wchyld 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@minde28383 yes, more torque, like i said, but also like i said only with the production of more heat. That motor will over heat faster, because the only difference is the turn count. More turns mean thinner area of copper thus higher resistance, and thus more heat for the same phase amps.

    Actually the windings of the motors are meant for different voltages, not different speed/torque. 5t on the same Amps as a lower turn will generate more heat with the stronger acceleration, therefore it is meant for less amps and more Voltage, which will give the same kind of performance.

    • @jcreedy20
      @jcreedy20 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Defo go for a 7T motor, It will top out at about 40 mph on a 72v pack, but it will give you the best low down torque and monster acceleration, and as such you will require less throttle to get you moving and will generate less heat, if you don't live in a hilly area or go off road very often then get a 5T motor as you could probably get away with it and with flux weakening you can hit just shy of 60 mph, but if you want to ride a 5T off road at your weight then do some cooling mods, ferro fluid and heatsinks, definitely! Or if you want to keep using the 7T motor for its torque to off road and go up hills but have higher top speed, then you could also run it at very high voltage, around 120 volts. But the higher voltage pack will likely be more expensive. Running a 7T motor at 120v will certainly get you to 60 mph with flux and you will also keep that brutal acceleration. The other option is to do what i did, I have 2 motors, a 5T and a 3T, i have them so the connectors are on the swing arm, so I can quickly unplug the motor and swap them round using a motorbike stand. That will give you best of both worlds also whilst being able to maintain a reasonable voltage pack size.

    This video is misleading. 5T & 6T speed and torque drop off hard mid-range. You may be able to zip past traffic for 2 seconds but you're not overtaking cars or racing with these motors. 3.5T dusts any of the 4T / 5T / 6T motors after 20 km/h and keeps pulling, can overtake cars and is much faster. 5T / 6T stink after its reached its initial throttle. Also 5T/ 6T makes everyone who rides it use the throttle harder on the initial burst. This DRAINS the battery far more than the steady climb of the other versions. This video, while informative, skips these facts. If you're ONLY trail riding go 5T / 6T... if you're commuting or spending 30% time on roads, I'd say go 3.5T tbh.
