    This is one of the best canning videos I have ever seen. You don’t waste a lot of time, you just get right to the canning and I like that. I just started pressure canning a few months ago so more videos please.

    This is the best one online; thank you for doing it; my mom would add to it after opening the jars; her secret was; add a little brown sugar and black strap molasses, along with peas and corn. You will love it!!

    Hey, thanks for making the process look easy and fun to do. I will caution about all the hidden salt you may not realize is being compounded. Know that it preserves but being on a salt free diet makes me so aware of all the hidden places it resides. The spices, tomatoes, bouillon. Just in case it is a concern for you or your viewers. Thanks again for the helpful video.

    Thanks for this video. Please ignore the complainers or use their comments for future video ideas for improvement but there is nothing wrong with this one. Please don’t delete it. You have solved a problem for me. I was gifted a couple of huge cans of crushed tomatoes and didn’t know what to do with them. Now I know. I make a stew mix every year from our large gardens but don’t always have tomatoes ready when I want to can the mix. My husband loves the stew mix. He uses browned hamburger and adds the mix to make hamburger stew. It is so good. But I’m going to try this recipe for a change. I bet he will love it. I just found your channel and subbed you. I’m 68 and have been canning since I was 19. There is no comparison between home canned food and store bought. Plus we know what we put in it. Keep on doing what you do. I do have a question. What camera do you use? I am going to buy one to use on my channel but not sure what I want.

    Oh my goodness! I thought I had lost your channel!! This recipe has become my family’s favourite canned beef stew recipe! But I never wrote it down cause I knew your channel name and would always watch it just before making a batch to refresh my memory. Then you changed up your names. But I found you! The recipe is so delicious! Thank you for this! I plan on making this for my channel soon and will certainly add your link so everyone can come see your wonderful recipe too! I read some of the comments. Some people can be so cruel. And I am sorry for that. What bothers me is people are so critical of the editing and music choice, but yet when I visit their channels I see nothing. I don’t understand how people can be so called experts in regards to editing and video making, when they don’t even have any content of their own to reference to. I truly enjoyed the video! Job well done! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 💛

      @danakarloz5845 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      stacyeandrew2 you can eat it right out of the container if you’re unable to heat it up. The idea of canning in jars is for future use in case you ever run out of money for groceries. These recipes are quite simple and are actually very inexpensive. You know exactly what goes into your food and it will have no preservatives in it. The price of everything is increasing at a drastic rate and one day you may find yourself revisiting this post and the details of the video 🙏

    • @vickihill4777

      We don't use our canned goods for emergencies. We incorporate them right into our meal planning. If I'm busy one day I can just heat up soup or stew with some bread and that's supper for us. I look at it as a few busy hours one day for many days of fast meals later. I also make a white bean chicken chili and can it and make quick corn bread those nights. I can quite a few different meals of this type and it's not only delicious and healthy but it sure helps with the food budget

    I like the way you used dehydrated onion (no salt) and beef broth (which can be no salt if you can it that way). The only salt seemed to be the seasoned salt and possibly the garlic seasoning, assuming the tomatoes didn't have a lot (which can be washed off if someone is watching their salt intake). Thank you for the video!

I do the videos during the canning process then while the canner is coming up to pressure and down from pressure, then the jars cooling and having to wait until the next day to wash them. Can I add fresh garlic, onions, green bell peppers, and green beans? I read that you shouldn't can acidic vegetables. I'm not sure what veggies are acidic. Thanks! Great video. God bless you.

      Tomatoes are acidic and they’re fine. I’ve never heard that you can’t add those things. I’ve used them all in different canning situations and they all work just fine.

    Tom Olson I found this
    In general, 3 inches of hot water into the canner. Too much water is unlikely to cause harm, but too little could boil dry and that would be a major problem. To prevent water stains on jars, add 2 tablespoons white vinegar to water in canner. Always use canning rack.

    Very good video and understandable even for a novice like me. What does the finished product looks like on the shelve? Somehow, nobody ever show that part.

    In the south a stew must have a rue or sauce or gravy. We call this beef soup. In the West we put some barley in as well.

    It doesn’t seem there is enough room for everything especially the meat. Is it possible to pressure can in 1/2 gallon jars?

    That's beautiful stew, and I love the idea of doing it raw pack. But I'm a novice canner and I don't understand why the vegetables aren't mush after 90 minutes at 10lbs. I've canned meats, but I'm nervous about canning meat with veg. I once accidentally canned carrots at 15lbs instead of 10 and they came out spreadable, lol!

      Tiny Acres oh no! Was that the correct pressure for your elevation?
      Also make sure to cut your carrots in large chunks to help them not be so soft.

    • @tinyacres2827
      @tinyacres2827 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it was not! I'm at a 10lb elevation. Honestly, in the jar, it looks like they're screaming! Does processing at 90 minutes not overcook your vegetables? I'm from the south, but still....

    How do the potatoes come out? Are they firm? Is there a particular potato that is better to hold its shape? Thank you for the video, super helpful! I have only been pressure canning for an entire week :) My daughter has water bathed for years, but I am new to this side of canning.

    Looks delicious! Can potatoes be canned with the peel on? Sure makes it easier to not have to peel them.

    • @Simplylivinglifethebestican
      @Simplylivinglifethebestican  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pamela Hartley I scrub them and leave the peels on but it's not always recommended. So use your own judgement.

    • @vmdude1
      @vmdude1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can red potatoes skin on but scrub them well then give a 2 minute bleach bath. You can Google USDA for ratios but I think it was a TBSP or 2 of bleach per gallon of water. Haven't had a problem. For this I'd use white potatoes. Russets don't can well.

    I have been looking at many suggestions for canning Beef Stew, there was something wrong with all of them. Thanks to you I now realize none of them added the tomatoes. I feel dumb not catching it sooner but it isn't beef stew without tomatoes.
    Thank you so much I'll be adding the diced tomatoes.

When directions are explained my brain cannot go past that because I cannot see all the gadgets your turning, etc. And I don't understand the jargon of setting the pressure cooker. Do you already have a viewing made we could watch on how to adjust and cook in the pressure cooker. You experts know what to do and like you saud, take for granted us newbies.ty.
