He is missed. Vince personally called John to get him to play on the session in which "Look at Us" was recorded. That lead to 12 years of performing with Vince. Both men are class acts..

I was very lucky to do a recording session with John one time. Didn't pay a lot, and I was surprised that John immediately said yes when I asked him. I miss him every day. I was just listening to that album we did, that's what got me on the kick to come listen to this. It is one thing to listen to the recordings, but to be able to watch him on the videos, it just takes me back to when you could walk into the bars on lower Broadway and there he was...we were the lucky ones.
When I was a young boy, about 10 years old and just learning to play steel guitar, my dad took me to our local state fair to see Conway Twitty. Playing the steel in his band, was John Hughey, and when he played the intro to the song "Last Date", I was mesmerized, and have been, ever since. One of steel guitar's all time heroes for sure. He passed in April 2005 - she followed in July -- she could not live without him. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in March 2005 though --- 70 years and 9 kids later..........they still loved each other......... Thanks for a beautiful song....sorry for rambling on.
