  • Welcome to the Global Change Research Wetland (GCReW), home to the world’s longest running climate change experiment! Housed at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center on Chesapeake Bay, this wetland has been simulating the world of 2100 since the 1980s. Here, Smithsonian scientists are raising carbon dioxide, temperature and nitrogen inside experimental chambers. Meet five scientists who run the experiments, and find out how volunteers can get involved in projects like the annual Salt Marsh Census.
