“These books went viral, but kind of in the way that the coronavirus went viral” I CANTT 😭
That had me dying
"All fart and no poo" is such a great quote. Don't mind me using that every day now!
I thought the exact same thing!
Ranking Verity that high is frankly a crime
I agree
Honestly verity is the only Colleen hoover book that I can stand
Verity being above The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue has made me viscerally angry in a way that I have not experienced before from a TH-cam video
I agree with you.
Everything is not about coullor for fucks sake. Is it not more insenstive to add a person in the story that is not important to the story for the tokennes of it, than to let people build in the side characters themselfs.
Addie does not describe all the people she walks by in the story, beacuse it is not the story beeing told.
It is a stoy centering lonliness, revenge and the inexplicable thing that makes us human.
Why do all stories have to be a race problem for americans.
true verity probably should've dropped down a tier
@@jack_edwardsprobably 😀⁉️
“So cheesy it triggered my lactose intolerance” is now and forever in my daily vocabulary
ngl seeing the cruel prince so low and verity so high hurt my feelings
Omg same 😢
but those are different genres ;) Cruel prince is so weak, if you read some SJM books you know what I mean.
I did read acotar (#1) and it was horrible.
I read Throne of Glass and thought the FMC was the most brain dead character and if she was the best assassin then genuinely all hope is lost. Can't speak for Cruel Prince because I haven't read it but let's not act like SJM is that superior 😭 @@RoXiNeCqA
Jack really doesn’t seem to like fantasy or sci-fi as a genre much so I am not too surprised - I found both cruel prince and ACOTAR just fine not great not bad just ok…😅
me watching jack reviewing a book for the 5th time because i've already seen his past videos: we're eating GOOD tonight!!!!
Us us!!
It's still baffling to me that White nights is now considered "a booktok book"
Its truly wild 😂
i read all 3 in the 'a good girl's guide to murder' series within like 3 weeks last year and i have to say (as someone who barely reads any romance books) pip and ravi's relationship was SO charming and it felt like such a natural transition from friends to lovers!
going from being made fun of for my name to hearing one of my favorite youtubers use it as a part of a tier ranking is truly the best evolution
The song of achilles is just everything ✨️
23 SECONDS AGO. That’s longer than the tiktok ban.
BEGGING you to read the Six of Crows duology!! i'm not a fantasy girlie at all and it has such great characters and pacing
Yes, my friend made me read it and I am also not a fantasy person but I loved it. The world-building is so good, the characters have distinct identities and the pacing of the heist is so good.
Yes!!!! My favorite book ever🥹🥹🥹
These tiers are absolutely iconic
MY SHAYLAAA
Circe on the same tier as Verity receeded my hairline
(BTW Jack if youre reading this, ik you were worried about getting hate on your book reviews, one questionable opinion on one ranking doesn't make me love your content any less. I'm so glad you're coming back to doing silly little tier list videos again :) ♥️)
Same😢
Haven't read any Colleen Hoover books (and I never will) but agree. Circe is top tier🙌
I never would have thought that a Dostoevsky book would be a 'TikTok book.'
you and me both
White Nights is a good entry point because the love story is the trojan horse containing Dostoevsky's schizo rantings.
Exactly
I think enemies can be done well if it’s done over a long enough period of time. The issue I have with so many romantasy books is that the love interests only hate each other for 5 pages. I need to see a progression that slowly (almost painfully so) has the characters opening up to one another while having to come to terms with the fact that they don’t hate the other person as much as they once did. I think this is the reason Drarry fanfiction is so big. It does that bit so well since there’s already a 7 year established hatred of one another with a few complications like pity along the way
OMG yes!!! Every time the leads hate each other because of some stupid misunderstanding, it's always gets resolved in like minutes. I need the DRAMA the ANGST! I need them to be repulsed at the idea of liking the other person. Especially cause Enemies to Lovers is about seeing all the bad parts of a person but still falling for them because you slowly start to see the good. And that needs TIME.
Don’t just save for retirement-invest for it. A well-planned portfolio ensures you have something to retire to, not just from.
Many new tra-ders face challenges without proper guidance. I found success by learning from James Clark's expertise.
@@AkaraBreadThat's precisely why I trust and value the guidance of Mr. J. Clark in all my endeavors.
I recently sold half my tech stock holdings due to all-time highs, leaving me with $400k. Should I invest in ETFs now or wait for a market correction considering potential inflation?
Celebrating a $30k stock portfolio today from a $6k start. Investing wisely has given me time for family and future plans.
From $37K to $45K that's the minimum range of profit return every week I thinks it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.
I love your humor! I just like when you are being yourself
24:25 im actually dying not the sudam hussain hiding spot 💀💀
😭

I had to pause the video because you CRACK me up Jack you’re humor is *chefs kiss* and is exactly how I feel about books 😂👏🏼
i love how you can always just how chronically online jack is 😭
Whenever someone says they like A Little Like I'm always like "oh really what was your favorite part"? Cause genuinely I find all goodwill towards the book has absolutely nothing to do with its craft or content, but how it (manipulated) affected the reader.
It is misery porn, to an absurd degree, made all the worse by the author's reprehensible views on therapy, and her extremely concerning track record with Queer characters. This shit-heap and it's praise is why the term "booktok" immediately makes me suspicious.
Thank you - totally agree!!
It was my worst read of 2024. The graphic content wasn’t what bothered me either. I just felt like the story sucked lol
Personally, what I like about A Little Life is how much it made me think afterwards. About people being uncomfortable with other’s sadness, about how trauma can « shape you » and make you more vulnerable to live other traumas afterwards, about the ethics of keeping someone alive that doesn’t want to be. I also think a lot of people have seen themselves in Jude. And we feel so much empathy for him that it can help us feel more empathy for ourselves aswell. I get that this book isn’t for everyone, but in my opinion it had many things to say about how complex our relationship is with sadness.
I loved the good years section in general. I loved the world building. I LOVED the characters. I still feel like I mourn them all to this day.
We have VASTLY different tastes in books. Doesn't stop me from watching your videos and listening to your opinion. 😊
PERSEPHONE????????? I NEED IT NOWWWWWW
I agree on a lot of them but the cruel prince in the bottom tier?!
Snobbery against genre fiction low key 😂
I can’t believe the cruel prince got published at all
Verity on the same rank as Yelloface is actually criminal‼️😭
Thank you for your Cruel Prince take...you are so correct bestie
20:22 Bunny is so insane in a good way and I'm super excited for the sequel/prequel to come out!
Hard disagree with the Cruel Prince. That trilogy was great 😤
NOO THE CRUEL PRINCE MY BELOVED
Ikrr aha he said that whilst my cruel prince special edition is sitting on my bookshelf in front of me haha i was like dont listen to him 😂
the cruel prince will always be my shayla in my heart 😔
i'm sorryyyyy maybe i need to give it a second chance
Sorry but the Cruel Prince just seems one of those books that you enjoy out of self-indulgence. Much like how people pretty much crap on Dan Brown books but at the same time there are those who do find them very entertaining.
@bored_potato lol, have you even read the book/series? it's more than "self-indulgence," it's a whole series filled with world building and character development. it's definitely (in my opinion) not a mindless read, as there are ideas about social issues regarding the politics of the world.
For cruel prince the first is the worst, but its still good 😭 its building on existing folktales, and also A SERIES BRO IT MATTERS LATTER I SWEAR 😞i will be holding space for her
Literally like it gets soooo much better just keep reading !!!
I really struggle when people say but the first book is the worst! It gets better! If I didn’t like the first book why would I want more? Like I understand skill level can improve over time but I don’t want to give more time and energy to stuff I already didn’t like ya know?
@@alexwolfe3359 that's fine, then you don't have to read it. i myself, usually give a book series until the second book to see if it's worth continuing. the fact is, the first book is usually (from my experience at least) the least strong in a series, as it's mostly just world building. so i believe it just makes sense to read past that to see what else it has to offer.
I know I ended up loving those books but I cannot for the life of me remember why now. I also hated the first book but pushed through. I did think it was worth it but I struggled to actually like any of the characters. team nobody
omggg i’ve had the longest day, this is the best little treat
Jack what video did you talk about 'I want to die but I want to eat tteokbokki' in?
maybe in the vid abt the 116 books hes read last year? with 'one sentence ratings'
I think he got some merch for it? it was filmed in the last library before this one I'm almost sure.
@@innnak1 yeh there was a video where he was opening packages hed been sent when he got home from new York or somewhere that he opened a PR box for it and mentioned it a bit.
I’m so glad you feel that way about The Cruel Prince because I just read it after seeing SO MUCH hype and am speechless…. Like what did I just read? And why?
20:13 AHHH NOT THAT CLIP WITH A CLOCKWORK READER 😭
i'd like to know who's been editing your videos lately because they have been SUPERB
Verity did not deserve to be that high 😂😂 It's the only CH I've read... if that's her best, I'm terrified lol 😅
haha it was the only one I liked lol I read like five
Saying after hesitating that you would hold space for Varity then cutting to the picture of Ariana holding Cynthia’s finger is gold
considering I almost wrote "the expectation in brave new world is for all them to be rizzlers, and bernard marx isnt a rizzler" for my english work today maybe tikotk shouldve stayed banned
The fourth wing was sooo hard to read I couldn’t finish it. I was excited because I enjoy fantasy and the reviews were great but omg the book was so cringe.
I see new Jack video, I click. I see new Jack ranking video, I swiftly click.
😂 video recording “ Ladies! The bar needs to be higher !” And will probably get to use the clip way sooner than I prefer
Omg I hated 'My Year of Rest and Relaxation'. I was bored to tears of the main character. And your favourite Emily Henry book being Happy Place (while being my least favourite) has got me questioning myself as to why I keep adding books you recommend to my TBR when it's SO CLEAR we have different tastes. But I'm in too deep so I'll just roll with it.
oohh.. Jack is Back! 😍
Our man has been feeding us with content and I love it. Can you maybe make a video about books on writing?
RIP vine.. we miss you
I still have a similar response to Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. One of my favorites of all time!
The cruel prince is a perfect escapism. It was so fun to read❤
JACK THANK YOU SO MUCH! IT’S A GOOD DAY WHEN JACK POSTS!
I tried to read Bridgerton: The Duke and I, but it was so bad I DNF'd it less than 15% in. Shonda Rhimes has worked a miracle with that crap.
I found your channel through the talented, incredible, show-stopping, never been done before miss Jordan and I want to thank her because you put out such great content. Also you look like Jonathan Bailey, k thx bye
I was watching your TikTok book reading video for an English project and I’m just seeing you posted this. Citing you as one of my sources sir!
Ooh what was the project? Sounds interesting
@ I was doing a research project on the effects of media on literature. Booktok, bookstagram, general media like shows and movies etc. how has it changed the publishing industry, marketing, consumerism, and reading. It’s a discussion exploration so I basically find a bunch of sources and see how they relate to each other and what point of view they share on the topic! I had a great time
17:40 “sobbing into my cereal” good book title
I was just thinking I needed a new dose of Jack!
I was looking forward to Jack's eternal hatred of The Spanish Love Deception before I even started watching. And I got what I waited for!
You led me astray with A Little Life. It wasn’t “too much”; I thought it wasn’t enough. The writing was average, the character development was nonexistent, it was categorized as a novel on friendship yet the “friends” were basically MIA after the first few chapters. Truly a waste of my time.
YES I was so shocked when they marketed it as a book about friendship even on the book jacket!!
Clock it! I started this book 3 times at completely different points in my life and everytime I quit at the 100 page mark. Almost nothing in this book stayed with me. I don’t buy that they’re the epitome of friendship. They seemed like empathetic acquaintances to me. If they all weren’t down on their luck I guarantee they wouldn’t be as close. The writing was mediocre. I could tell the author was talented but it wasn’t anything lyrical or overly literary. If I had to match the author to the style I would be there all day 🫣
I would also like to say that I ended up watching an analysis of the book so I do end up figuring out all the plot points. I feel like after the big reveals the book loses a lot of appeal. Very trauma p*rn like
I am LIVING for these kind of videos!
I love all the new content. We are so back🥳
Every day I see a new Jack video is a good day
Did you get an editor? If not I’m impressed with how much the editing has improved ❤
You had me sweating for a second with the year of rest and relaxation placing at first LOL
I thought it would be my Shayla territory 😢
not the cruel prince slander 😭 loved this series after not getting through the first book for so long but devouring book 2 and 3 in a week ahhhh
YES ANOTHER VIDEOOO!!!
please post more on TH-cam, I love your videos
AHHHH I'm so excited to watch this
I just find a little life feels over the top at the end. Like it wasn’t too upsetting or too gory or anything like that, it’s just like it became so melodramatic that I couldn’t suspend disbelief anymore. 🤷🏽♀️
I found a fantasy duology I really loved and when I told about it my friend said it’s kinda Addie Larou so maybe if you’re missing colorful representation give it a chance… Honey and Peaches (+Pits and Poisons)
I loved this, and I can’t believe how many of these books I’ve read! I disagree with you on a few of your rankings, of course - Normal People, Addie LaRue, Midnight Library, Verity - but that makes it fun! You’ve done a great job!
I always find it so interesting how Emily Henry books really are polarising from book to book. Like Book Lovers is my favourite, and I absolutely hated Happy Place (ok maybe hate is a strong word, but I did not enjoy it).
I love how he is British and is making this video “In case it gets banned again” lmaoooo 😭😭
you are INSANE for that edit on 29:37 LMAO
A little life is probably one of my least favourite books I have ever read AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL. I don't think I will ever understand why the sloppy trauma soup of a book got so popular.
I’m genuinely confused why you’d rank Verity that high - Colleen Hoover’s Books on the same level as Ottessa Moshfegh AND R.F. Kuang?!
I don't think I've ever seen the laws of power and the hating game next to each other in any other context before
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that you don’t like fantasy and sci-fi books either! Every time I look for book recommendations anywhere else that’s all I get!
THE SADDAM HUSSEIN HIDING SPOT COVER 😭
Cruel Prince is so good 😭
the rankings have me crying omg
Happy place above funny story is hard for me to process 😂
for the longest time, i felt like i was just existing while other people had something i didn’t. i kept wondering what made them stand out. then i read this ebook, Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki. it’s not some generic self-help stuff, it actually breaks down the unseen energy behind attraction. i didn’t realize how much i was pushing people away without even knowing it. this book showed me how to change that.
7:45 literally had me in tears, thank you
you haveeee to do a video where you read fantasy, either popular or fan recommendations please please please, im praying
The rankings are back 😍😍😍
Diary of an Oxygen Thief made me SO, SO ANGRY. He misrepresented both characters so atrociously!
Verity is a deeply sexist novel that justifies domestic abuse. It also has shockingly bad autistic representation that only exists in the novel to justify a man murdering his wife. On top of its deeply awful issues concerning domestic violence, it's a terrible retelling of Rebecca, without the beautiful prose, interesting characters, and quality craftsmanship. I am not surprised a male book reviewer enjoyed the book, because men do not suffer from domestic violence on the same level as women and as such don't see these issues in novels, but it's a disturbing read. I threw the book in the bin and I've never done that before. It made my flesh crawl.
Jack I have to recommend you Erin Morgenstern's other novel, 'The Starless Sea'. I know you're not the biggest fan of fantasy, but this book reads like such a beautiful display/celebration of the art of story telling which I think you may appreciate. I was a fan of 'The Night Circus' when I read it, but TSS felt like it was in a completely different realm and I was wowed at every chapter. I recommend it to anyone who will listen and I would love to hear your thoughts on it if you ever give it a go!
Wonderful video as always!
YES it's a MUST for a story lover!!
TAKE THAT BACK ABOUT CRUEL PRINCE😭I’ll forgive you but you were so wrong for that! (Respectfully)
The idea that a Colleen Hoover book is rated above "Diary of an Oxygen Thief" is fucking wild to me.
Love these types of videos
The Spanish Love Deception HAUNTS me to this day
The Saddam Hussein hiding spot nearly took me out 😂😂😂
I’ve never related to you more than when you talked about It happened One Summer, and said, “It’s the perfect spice. I’m only human.” 😂😂
the only offense I take is the cruel prince. everything else is valid af
So many great reaction quotes in this video 😂
Love this video, Jack. But we miss your CELEBRITY BOOK CLUB VIDS!!! Huhuhu!
This is probably your most quotable video ever and I’m here for it! To add to books you’d probably enjoy reading and I’m surprised you haven’t… Galatea by Madeline Miller (totally a one day read) and Beach Read by Emily Henry. I think you’ll find the love story premise for this one far more to your liking. I do like it more than Book Lovers in the romance department and the female lead gets to deal with some baggage which I always appreciate.
Video Idea: Books that you think should go viral on the clock app/don’t get enough hype. I’d love to know!
14:26 😂😂😂 the reviews I come to this channel for
I love videos like these cuz i know i disagree to a lot of Jack’s opinions but i get to see how he perceived the book and how it differs to mine. Also i get to see which book i will likely read and like😂
Currently reading A Man Called Ove! And I’m loving it 💛
YES! The few TikTok books I've read are all on the top two tiers. I'm doing something well in life!
