      @@JDStone20 yep.same stuff with me mate. Forget the movie or the series and can go back and watch it again. You have to look at the positive..those really good tv things we can triple enjoy them. Listen. I was thinking. When you get the burr up that quick your basically microbevelling.you are sharpening it right on the edge and in the end you have to obviously thin it all back out again.... but its a very good way of sharpening when u think about the time you input into it... and then just thin them out eventually. Because it cuts still quite well even when the angle is getting high if you cross the scratch patterns and light passes and do it right .

  • @ImmaHogg
    @ImmaHogg 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I know this vid is 4 years old, and I have used this as a guide before (great vid!), but I notice that this way of tying the snake knot differs from what most others do, in that this one ties and connects each subsequent knot together, whereas the traditional way is basically to tie separate knots, one knot tied tightly against the other. Does anyone with more experience with this know if there is an advantage of one version over the other?

    • @j.r.zepeda3171
      @j.r.zepeda3171 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      what youre thinking of is a wall knot, commonly confused with the snake knot (thats called 'stacked wall knots'). paracord guild actually has a separate video specifically for wall knots

  • @250rapid

    An 18 inches long piece of paracord will make a 6 knots lanyard with a full length of approx 3 inches. Long enough to pull a fixed or folded knife or multi-tool out of the sheath. Just to give an idea of how much paracord you will need to make different length "snake knot" lanyard.

    • @Paracordguild
      @Paracordguild  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      barbara Last
      Hey Barbara!
      The two color version is tied in exactly the same way. You join two pieces of paracord and then tie your first knot.
      You then pull the joined section into the first knot, so it is not visible, then continue the same way.
      Is this good enough, or would you prefer a video tutorial?

    I just used this video and this version of a snake knot to make a small knife lanyard. There is another fellow who has a video on the snake knot where the basic knot is the same, but each knot section is actually a seperate knot that is tied then sinched up against the previous knot. When completed, it looks very much the same, but your version makes for a tighter, more smooth appearance. Is the other version actually called something else? He was also referring to it as a "Chris Reeve" knot?

    I love your stuff. Very professional, with camera well placed and steady, great sound, no annoying background music or kids and dogs and TV going, etc. I appreciate the thought that went into this video, nicely paced. But beyond compliments I have a question. If I put the work down and come back to it I can't decide which side to begin again on. Can you say something about what to look at in decideing if it is flipped already or needs to be flipped? Thanks in advance.

    • @Paracordguild
      @Paracordguild  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +John Dowd
      Thank you for the question John!
      If you look closely at the knot on both sides, you will notice that one side is "doubled" in a way. Two cords at the bottom come from one opening in the knot. This is the section needs to be expanded (have a cord inserted). So i'd flip that so that it is on the right side, then insert the right cord through it by going behind the left cord, then through the front and into the bottom loop on the right.
      Hope that makes sense :).

    Don't waste your time with this technique.
    Keep it simple, as there is no need to embellish the simplicity of the knot.
    Just repeat the first knot in succession.
    Left over (creates the first loop), right under and back through the the first loop created by the left, then cinch up the knot. Repeat.
