great reaction. haley reinhart is one the greatest, most unique vocalist of our time. postmodern jukebox (or pmj) takes current popular songs and completely re-imagines them vintage (1920s to 1960s) in the music itself and style of the performances that actually take you back in time. they have a variety of good vocals but haley especially with postmodern jukebox is incredible. all the other haley/pmj ones are great also: "all about the bass", "habits", "black hole sun", "mad world", "seven nations army", "oops i did it again", "lovefool" and the very recent "don't speak".
i think what is so phenomenal about haley is not just her amazing silk to sandpaper voice but also her character and soul that she puts into the performances. even when she uses very little of her unique vocal acrobatics, her pure raw soft voice is amazing like in the intro of "creep". you see this even more in her solo double platinum cover of "can't help falling in love" for the extra gum commercial which is truly stunning and frequently described as what love sounds like here: (th-cam.com/video/_uNpEbt7w_o/w-d-xo.html )

I absolutely love this version. Let's not forget, that Radiohead ripped the chord progression straight from The Air That I Breathe by The Hollies. The writers, Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood, successfully won a copyright case and are now co-credited for Creep.

welcome to Haley's world, She has the biggest vocal toolkit in musicdom. If she was born 70 years ago we would still be talking about her legend. Post Modern jukebox spins music back to the 20-60's styles and Haley with them is just KILLER music. "Black Hole Sun", "Lovefool", "Don't Speak:" and many more. Her original "Don't Know How To Love You" she throws back to 60's blues/rock and it is fantastic. love the reaction man! I would LOVE to hear and Angelina do something together, that would be AMAZING!!!

Kathy here - Haley was basically discovered on American Idol, even though she didn't win. You need to check out some of her songs from that show. She was amazing. I think people just didn't think she was "wholesome" enough! Loved your reaction, because you not stopping, and as you said you forgot you were doing a reaction, which was a reaction in itself. It was just so damned good you couldn't stop it! Loved it! Just found your channel and this was my first reaction to your reaction!! LOL

I never watched the Sing Off……I had never heard of PTX until just a few years ago. So glad I stumbled across them! Some of these singing shows “find” the mist unbelievable singers! Not all win either! Again. Love Haley! Love her “gritty”
Haley grew up in a musical family in suburb of Chicago. Her parents have had a band all of her life that covers mostly classic rock. She was the first vocalist for her high school's jazz band, which performed at the Montreux and Umbria jazz festivals. She's been exposed to wide variety of music from an early age. Her influences range from The Beatles and Janis Joplin, to Ella Fitzgerald and Sly & The Family Stone.
When Haley appeared on American Idol in 2011, the show didn't tell its viewing audience any of this. She was left a blank slate and was the only contestant routinely criticized. Ultimately, on talent alone, she finished third overall behind two teenage country music performers. Haley was signed to Interscope after the show and produced a debut album the NYT called "convincing and fresh."
"Creep" is the most-viewed video on Postmodern Jukebox's (PMJ) YT channel. Haley did a quite a few with them that have tens of millions of views. Her work with PMJ led to Haley being asked to record "Can't Help Falling in Love" for an Extra gum ad campaign. It went viral and became a modern wedding classic. Her rendition recently passed 400,000,000 Spotify streams.
Note Haley is a fantastic live performer. This rendition of "Creep" was the first take. The audio engineer for "Can't Help Falling in Love" said they only did two or three takes and there was "no comping" (meaning it's one complete performance, they didn't splice them together to create the final product).

Haley is amazing. Her father is a jazz musician so this was a natural place to show off her talents with PMJ. Check out any of her PMJ covers. They are all top notch. I think she was on AGT A few years back but was eliminated very late in the show. Ah, it could have been American Idol, real not sure as I no longer watch those shows.
Watch her old American Idol performances. She was a diamond in the rough with more raw talent than she knew what to do with.

IMO, Haley and Morgan James are the stars of the PMJ universe. Check out Haley and Morgan doing a duet cover of "Dear Prudence".

Haley is owning this, but, the musical genius behind this interpretation is pianist, Scott Bradley. He produces and arranges all of PMJ's songs, and there's quite a few. This is obviously jazz, but PMJ remakes songs in other genres, too. Here's a few suggestions.
Done in 50s doo wop style, "The Heart Will Go On" featuring Mykal Kilgore, turns that slow, sad, and depressing song into one that to me, is joyful, uplifting and hopeful.

Haley Reinhart is by far the best vocalist to have ever performed with Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ). As prior to Haley's arrival, all PMJ played were cheap dives and tiny venues. Then shortly after Haley arrive don the scene and then quickly recorded several music videos with them that all went viral, all of a sudden PMJ found themselves filling coliseums and arenas.

It irks me when a reactor compares Haley’s vocal ability with that of AJ. No offence to AJ, but Haley is in a class by herself.
She learned to scat before she could speak. You didn’t even know the term when she scatted after the long (13 seconds) note. A jazz trait that very few singers currently have.
She learned to yodel at the age of 8.
If you want to enjoy more of Haley with PMJ, then Seven Nation Army and Don’t Speak are representative of Haley’s scatting, growling and being Jessica Rabbit all in one.
And Haley’s high end is trough the roof. Check out her rendition of I Put A Spell On You, live on tour. Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey range.

This is considered by many in the business to be in the top 10 singing performances of all time. Haley placed third on American idol but she was definitely the favorite. Steven Tyler absolutely loved her. It's been proven that if everybody had just one vote and one vote only Haley would have won American idol going away.

I think it's one of the best musical and vocal performances I've ever heard. Ever. Any artist. Any genre. This is absolutely extraordinary. Spectacular. Great reaction! I will offer a piece of advice... or caution. Since this was your first time hearing Haley Reinhart, (as it was for me some time ago), I think this is her best performance of this song. Just don't expect THIS song to sound AS good when you hear other versions. Another suggestion... search on "Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra feat. Haley Reinhart" This one is definitely worth a look!! I hadn't known Goldblum was a musician before I saw this. Their banter AND music are really fun!

as far as haley's american idol performances... all are good but here are the 4 that stand out the most in high quality 720p HD with judge commentary that i recommend:

Who is Haley Reinhart? People are going to tell you a lot butmy suggestion is go read her wiki page. She is more than a one trick pony. And should you have any interest in seeing her go totally Jessica Rabbit then you 'd be wanting to react to PMJ cover of 7 Nation Army. Just one side note. The PMJ versions are one take one camera. Unfortunately none of the live versions have quality sound and video. Its not like you will find the same high quality of a live performznce like a Floor Jansen concert. PMJ does fabulous live shows like the one i saw in 2015 with Hailey among the vocalists. Hmmm, you also might want to check out PMJ's wiki too and see they are structured as a musical collective.

Once again Angelina Jordan is not a jazz singer, she sings jazz song and there's a big difference. Angelina doesn't style vocally like a jazz singer, she doesn't have all the color in her vocals that jazz singers use because she only sings in two octaves
