Hi @adambobrow (out dear commentator), I am pretty sure that Hashimoto and Sato are both playing with the same blade and rubbers. No short pips here, they are playing with the Nittaku Do Knuckle, with is a half long pips (but very long for a half long pips...) perfect for défensive play AND aggresive play. But maybe I am mistaking...
Ahhh, I thought they were short pips too because TT Reference classified them as short pips when I looked up their gear. But it looks like most other places refer to it as medium pips.

There are several different Do Knuckle : the "normal", the Super (pips are a very little thicker so a little harder and disposed horizontaly - the normal has the pips disposed verticaly), the "44" (designed to play with a larger ball with a diameter or 44mm) and the "long-1" which is a real long pips...
I really enjoyed Adam’s commendation. He is the best commentator to me. His commendation is full of passion, professional information,fun and even some side stories.
