    Hey Everyone, thanks again for watching, I understand this video will get a mixed reaction.
    If any of you have ridden a ZZR1400 and a 1000 SX in the past, or maybe a CBR650R, let me know what you think as they're a completely different riding experience imo. The ZZR for me has more resemblance to a super sport than a tourer from the bikes I've ridden, but I'm curious to know what you all think from your own experiences. 🙂👍

      I currently have a Z1000sx which is a sport tourer. I think the ZZR is confused with a touring bike as you don't need to drive round the city in 1st gear like you so with the ZX6R or ZX10R.
      Definitely been considering this as my next bike. Shame you can only get the 2021 model in the UK now.

      I just traded my ZX6R for a ZX14R. Both are of fairly recent year. I would have to say the 14R is comfortable but still a super sport motorcycle at heart.
      Very light on her feet for the weight. Also the weight is nothing for how much ability the bike has. Excellent suspension and brakes, and a very strong engine.
      I have ridden touring and sports touring motorcycles and the 14R is way more capable. Infinitely so.
      I'm so happy I got the 14R. 💚

    I've owned a ZX-14R since 2012 and as to whether it's a sport-tourer or a supersport I would say ... it's both. On weekends I treat it as a sportbike, ride it up the mountain roads hard, it's easily capable of keeping up with my friends' liter supersport bikes. On long rides, I put a tail bag on it and ride hundreds of kilometers fast and comfortably. On a supersport bike I had (a 2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP1), riding long distances was painful.

    I have a ZX14R.. love it.. it's big fast and torquey!. For my 59yr old body it needs bar-risers and footpegs lowered to be 'sport tourer'. Passenger was not comfortable for extended rides. It IS a sportbike but won't keep up with the 1000's on the track because it's so big and heavy. I'm King of the Road on this thing ! Cheers

    I just rode my 2022 ZX-14 up from Dallas to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2 days and I had absolutely zero problems doing 500 miles a day on the bike….except for the fact that the bike was super bored just puttering along at 4500 rpm and 75 mph. I hadn't ridden in 20 years, but I used to do long trips on my 1993 ZX-11D I had back then and it was also very comfortable. I'm 6'2 and weigh 240 and the Kawasaki's have always made big bikes for big guys. I've ridden the new Hayabusa and it's a beast, but nowhere near as comfortable as the big Ninja.

  • @snakeman9902

    I would class the zzr1400 as a super sport tourer.
    Reasons why this bike isn't a sports bike.
    Too heavy. Sports bikes are made as light as possible.
    Too long, you can not go round short bends on this bike and is more adapted for drag racing than track racing.
    When I bought this bike, it was sold on the website as a sports tourer.
    You brought up the Busa, well the Busa was made to best the blackbird, a sports tourer.
    The foot pegs are not as harsh as a sports bike.
    The seat is too wide and comfy for a sports bike.
    The revs are too quiet for a typical sports bike.
    A sports bike to me is simply a bike that looks like a sports bike, which you can tour on, which as you said, you can tour on. If I toured on a pure sports bike, I would need hospital treatment for a week for my bad back and wrists.
    One thing we can agree on. This is one of the best bikes and value for money bike ever made. I use mine for everything, going to work. Speedy weekends, and long distance.. It is a bugger for petrol though, anyway. Great arguments put forward.. 👍👍👍

    You are completely right. To bad the manufacturers don't make more sport bikes that are for the street rider. Most of us will never be on the track, but want a sport bike and not a street legal race bike. When I looked for a bike when I was getting back to riding none of the sport bikes had any comfort to them. I ended up on the ZX14 and now am so happy that I did! Long live the King.

      Being a big guy I didn't feel quite at home on a liter bike. After riding my friends busa I knew I had to make the jump. Luckily I was able to sit on a busa and 14 side by side. After finding and researching the 14 I was leaning towards it but knew how the busa felt. When I sat on the 14 I was blown away at how comfortable I was. When I rode it out the lot in Orlando and drove it home to New Orleans I knew I made the right choice. I think it is easily the most comfy sport bike. It is just all around an excellent bike. It is almost perfection by how balanced and smooth it feels and not to mention how cool it looks. I want to call it a sport tourer but that is what the concourse is. The touring version of the 14. So I think it is best called a supersport or hypersport.

  • @LoneWolf-Uk
    @LoneWolf-Uk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I was under the impression that a sports bikes riding position is more aggressive, knees rammed under your chin and arse in the air style, with a single seat or with a small pillion area. Where as a sports tourer is a more "neutral" upright position, along with a big comfortable seat for both rider and pillion, making it much more comfortable for long runs. I mean; my bike, back in the day, was the nuts of the mutt. But viewed more of a sports tourer these days, since the production of newer and faster bikes. But that`s not so much a reflection of the way the bikes have changed. When they were introduced, they were damn fast, and they still are today... it`s just that the markets have moved on! I recently had a test ride on the new Suzuki GSXR1000 and BMW S1000RR, both thorough sport/race bikes. and I`m happy to say I ride a sports tourer... So, if my Yzf1000R is now a classed as a "sports tourer" your ZZR1400 must be a "Super sport tourer."

  • @davidmckeever-williams6446
    @davidmckeever-williams6446 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    It seems that as a product, the ZZR1400 or ZX14R is advertised to best suit the market. Sports in the US may attract a higher volume of sales than pitching it as a Sport Tourer. If the market is buying X, they'd be stupid calling it Y. I think this is the wheel coming full circle. Sport tourers were the professionals in the sport class and touring class, combined into one machine. They were not the masters of either. The 80's into 90's saw the ZX10 (Tomcat) & the CBR1000F, both pitched as sport tourers. They were comparable to where the ZZR1400 currently sits among the manufacturers product range and directly in the same position amongst the capabilities of the range of machines today.

      I fully agree, I believe this maybe one of the arguments till the end of time, I had the same debate with one of my work colleagues last year, till I sent him the advertisement for a sport tourer for this machine.
      I think one thing we can all agree on, it's a dam fine machine. I've had a centre stand fitted to mine and now struggling to get decent cans fitted. In my opinion, the big black exhausts, such as are on my bike spoils the look.

    The easiest answer which shouldnt cause a debait is..... The ZZR1400 is whatever the owner wants it to be for them, we are all different, male, female and sizes, geographic locations and many other requirements. some say hyper touring, others sports, for me i have altered it to be one of my favourite bikes ever, the CBR600FY as ive lowered the pegs and double stacked the risers, now i have an everyday bike which is as comfy (for me) as the cbr600fy with shit loads of power. Amen! stay safe!

  • @timrains5011

    I wouldn't get too hung up on it, some will argue that an R1 over 10 years old is a sports tourer, such is the development of what constitutes a superbike. Of course the gtr fjr etc are pure tourers but the long wheelbase of the hyperbike class, and now lower HP/ heavier weight than a superbike tend to give it that st label. In the 80s this bike's ancestors the gpz900r gpz1000rx and then zx10 would have been considered superbikes but then the fireblade changed all that. It's certainly not a custom cruiser (or isn't it)? I know I want one.

    My 2017 Performance Sport is perfect on fast A roads but a bit of a handful (sometimes) on tight B roads in my area (rural Cumbria). Compare to my '98 ZX6R G1 that I've had for 22 years (!) Super capable on B roads that could be used on track no problem... That's why I have and use both. The rest is just semantics.

  • @RocketPropelledWombat
    @RocketPropelledWombat 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think a few of the arguments for it being a sport tourer don't add up. People say it's big, it's not that big. Then they say it's heavy, but if you look in the owner's manual it states the dry weight which isn't that far off say, a late 90's / early 00's race bike (most reviewers will add whatever fuel weight they deem fit and say it weighs 250KG though). It handles better than most of those bikes as well. Kawasaki probably just knew people who buy these are gonna do long distances on them so they made it comfy. Most folk say it's a sporty tourer but in reality it's more a tour-y sportbike. Tourers really are big heavy buggers.
    Edit for; I'm kinda gutted it's a ZZR here in the U.K. as opposed to a ZX14R. I want 'Ninja' decals.

    Doing away with the "supersport" and "hypersport" distinctions
    Tourer = preferable to long distances.
    Sport = preferable to cornering.
    Sport bike = zx25r, zx4r, zx6r, zx10r, h2, h2r
    Sport tourer = ninja 650, ninja 1000sx, zzr1400, h2se
    So while the tourers can do what sport bikes are made for they don't excell at it like the dedicated sport bikes do, due to their weight, seating position/ergonomics, and power delivery.
    And while you Can put luggage bags on a sport bike, it's not designed for long distances (despite zx10r's inclusion of cruise control 😂). No body is wants to ride backpack on a liter bike for 3 hours straight.
    Entry level bikes can be a combination of things because their purpose is to get ppl on 2 wheels. Namely, the ninja 400 (soon to be ninja 500). Sport touring ergonomics like the ninja 1000sx but lacks the power, weight and amenities to travel long distances. More like a commuter/city basher. The 400 can lead you into either a sport or a touring future.

    This video is very interesting!
    I'm thinking of buying a zzr1400 and I'm only concerned by its behavior in turns.
    I already have a zx10e so I'm not expecting something that agile, but I'm afraid that this could be too heavy and not be fun to ride in the mountain Twisties… again I'm not expecting a 600cc or a 1000cc…

    It's a sport bike, for some reason people are confusing what the motorcycle is. What it is not is a track bike, it is a drag bike and is King of the 1/4 mile. No different than the 1970's Kaw 750 H2, just try and ride that beast on a track, doesn't turn and brakes sucked. They are built for speed, they are drag bikes. Kawasaki is the King of the road throttle on, they also make a decent track bike, but that never has been what riding Kaw's has been about. Kawasaki is about balls to the wall power/speed.

    Maybe we have to call all the 600-1000cc “sport bikes” for “track bikes” then😁

    Okay I want to clear things up for you somewhat here as it is clear you don’t know how to label your ZX 14R or ZZR 1400. In the simplest of terms for you here, these bikes are in the “Hyperbike class” the ZX 14-R is not in the Sports Touring Bikes. The Kawasaki concours is in the Sports Touring Bike class. The two main leaders on the market today in the Hyperbike class are the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa and the Kawasaki ZX 14R or ZZR 1400 with the Kawasaki heading the lead out of the both. If you’re still confused as to what to label your bike I will upload a video and spell it out to you in simple English.

    It's not an original ZX. ZXs have 2 separated seats for the driver and the passenger. Check out ZX12R for example. This is actually a ZZR, not a ZXR. ZZRs have always been Sport Tourers, not Superbikes (1000cc) and not Supersports (600cc). It is sad that Kawasaki call the ZZR a ZXR in USA. If they really want a proper Hyperbike and the successor of ZX12R, they better make one...

    Don't really understand what you're driving at? It's a very very comfortable and tourable bike especially with bar risers or flat barred. This bike isn't considered a super sports anymore. BTW I speak from experience have ZZR1400 Performance Sport & a Gen 2 Hayabusa

    • @MichaelZZRrider
      @MichaelZZRrider 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Surely fitting bar risers and/or flat bars is turning the bike into a sports tourer?. I also dont believe that time changes what a bike is, a Ducati 916 is still a supreme sports bike even though it is supposedly outclassed by todays machinery. For me, the 14R is a supersports bike but as he said in the video, it is not a Race Bike, although a well ridden one will surprise quite a few around a track. I suppose that in the end, there is no definitive answer to the question. Just opinions, and we all have those 🙂

      @@MichaelZZRrider We are going to have to agree to disagree, just about everyone in the UK & Europe put bar risers on their ZZR1400 (upto 30mm) and lesser so flat barring it. Lowering footpegs is less common but does get done but tends to screw the handling up as the pegs touch down way too easily. This bike is absolutely seen as a balistic touring continent crosser here

    Hyper Sport Tourer!! Definitely not a Sports bike, you don't sit on them you lie on the tank and they have a postage stamp for a pillion seat. "Doesn't sound like a Sports tourer" Really? What does a Sports tourer sound like then? The Concourse or GTR 1400 may have a more up right seating position but it's down on everything else, power, brakes and handling. More of a tourer than a Sports tourer. As much as I love my ZZR 1400 it's a brute on tight bends, sure it reacts to input well but it also wants to sit up, whereas Sports bikes are point and stick, take tight bends like they're running on rails.

    • @MichaelZZRrider
      @MichaelZZRrider 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If that is the case then 99% of so called "Super Sport " riders cant actually ride, as that would be the only reason the 14R can stay with them on tight bendy roads.

      @@MichaelZZRrider Don't see many ZZR 1400's/ ZX14's whooping Sports bike Ass on a race track? Yet they're renound on the drag strip!! One has no corners, perhaps that tells you something.
      It's all about wheel base, I had a Triumph 900 Thunderbird Sport during the time when the GSX 1000 and the R1 were sporting the crown. I couldn't keep up on the straights but they couldn't catch me on corners. I find the opposite true of my ZZR it's like a rocket on the straights, loves sweeping bends but it just has too long a wheelbase for tight turns at high speed. I haven't tried a 55 profile rear tyre yet, that might improve turn in. Sure it handles very well for its size but it definitely needs constant input. Whereas previous bikes and my FZ1-S I just point and set.

      @@michaellilley6725 I fully understand your point mate. The 14 is not a track weapon but a good rider can make it perform well. On real roads where one is not pushing at 100% because of limitations imposed by road surface, other vehicles etc the 14 can stay with most machines. Sure, you have to work harder but that is the challenge. I think we agree mate. Anyway, enjoy your riding and keep that throttle pinned 🙂

    Hi!
    Can someone give me feedback?
    To give you more information, the other bike in the list, cause I've tried it, is a caponord 1200, which is a very good bike, but I don't like it as much…
    Thanks
