  • We have the new Lotus Emira in the workshop to develop a 3 way coilover in collaboration with MOTON. We also answer some commonly asked questions of what settings you should use for adjustable coilovers.

Very well described. Enjoyed watching this... also educational to anyone wanting to learn about the importance of spring rates, dampening and weight distribution/ balance.

The "front needs to be N clicks softer" all depends entirely on the tuning of the damper. Manufacturer A can make a damper with the stiffest setting softer than the softest setting of manufacturer B. Manufacturer C can design dampers so that the middle of the range in the front perfectly matches the middle of the range in the rear.
At the end of the day, follow the manufacturer's recommendation and train your senses to recognize what you need to fine tune.

Thanks for the comment and yes that’s correct, all dampers are made different 👍 this is just a good rule of thumb to use if you aren’t sure where to begin and is a nice starting point to tune the dampers from 👍
From there it all comes down to feel as we mention (and we have a more thorough video covering damper adjustments that we have already posted) that talks you through how to tune the damper to then suit your driving style and needs once you have set upon a base setting to work from 👍

Great advise. Wondering how these dampeners compare to the sport suspension i4 Emira. I heard the i4 is slightly firmer than the V6 and sport makes it slightly more firm.

Good video, once available, would you please share the resultant part numbers for this Moton kit for the Emira?

Any chance you can tell me what part number the Bilstein shocks are? Ive just won a TH-camrs Emira and he had the car lowered (??) and in the process the kept the shocks and springs but cut the bump stops in half! I cant find the exact part reference to get new bump stops. Cheers.

Why two collars instead of just two threaded rings?

This kit uses two threaded locking collars to secure the platform but is just the design choice for the Motons. There is no difference in terms of performance or usability.
