As someone who has been in love with ETS2 and ATS, and then became a trucker in real life, it is incredibly interesting to learn about where these games came from.
Trucking game with a fully voiced storyline starring a cool American protagonist wearing a brown leather jacket, and which never received a proper sequel. This is terrestrial Freelancer.
One thing I want to point out is that Russian gaming industry was on par with her Eastern European counterparts, but 2008 financial crisis killed and shrunk the whole market and nobody cared for it. Nowadays, goverment tries to support local gaming industry, but back in 2008 nobody really cared and a lot of very strong dev teams just died out without money. After 2008, only free to play, pay to win like game developers managed to survive (War Thunder, World Of Tanks, Warface - thrived, while single player developers vanished). So, this situtation probably also touched NSK in a huge way.
I am now imagining a world in which we got a War Thunder for trucking and... Well I don't know if it's preferrable but it would certainly be a sight. All I'll say is I'd take the sponsorship deal.
It was a nice video to watch, thanks for mentioning me & my famous playlist. After seeing this I want to play this game again 😅 time has passed since I've played it.
i think your viewcount and subcount are missing a few zeroes real talk though, im a diesel mechanic who works on trucks and the depictions of the trucks are damn near true to life for the era which is really cool that intro had me instantly hooked
Oh man the excitement that possessed me upon seeing my hometown of Sacramento on the in-game map is indescribable! Hard Truck 2 was a favorite among my brother and I 20 or so years ago, so it's crazy to think some of the devs might have been in town at the same time doing research for its sequel. I'm only 20 minutes into the video so far but my eyes are gonna be glued to that map every time it appears in case some footage from within city limits happens to get used.
What an epic job you made! This brings some memories, it's nice to see that this game is not forgotten, especially outside of Russia. Maybe it wasn't as successful as the 2nd game (that one was god tier for its time), but it still was cool and fun. I had both the base game and the Big Race DLC, and even got to finish the story, although i don't remember it too well nowdays.
You can meet John for the first time after loosing to Murdoc. John will give the Cheetah truck for rematch and loosing for secong time will lead to game over. However, the plot is full of holes. Loved your video. Translated this message through Yandex Translate
i grew up playing hard truck 2, so it's always a big nostalgia trip seeing it be mentioned in videos, i will never know how my dad got ahold of an old, russian trucking simulator for my siblings and i to play with, but we loved it and we still remember it to this day, nothing will ever top it for me, great video!
Damn I have no idea such a game existed, also the radio is clearly off the charts. Person in charged of it just clearly decided "fuck it imma make a masterpiece"
2 things: 1.- I remember it was this "GTA 5 Trailer" where two guys are in a shootout, and one got one-handed in a thing of construction I guess. 2.- It was an unplayable game that was called "Rigs of rods", or something like that. I don't remember the name, but by 2013 or something I've seen one or two gameplays of a game like that.
I love how the cars and trucks are very much of the Era but set in the future im guessing the grand caravan and intrepid are frozen in time and still being produced. I like the flat face Frieghtliner you have
I remember when it came out I was having trouble running the 18 WoS games and wanted a truck sim that just worked right for me. And then I started playing and it had all that racing mess and that totally ruined it for me. I have 6 hours of playtime on it on Steam. Compare that 1442 hours worth of playtime between ETS2 and ATS and it's easy to see what game formula held my attention better. I never wanted my truck sim to be an "ignore all the road rules and let's street race with trucks" arcade game
Very good video! The soundtrack really feels like a huge part of the game, very happy that you included it. I also like the jokes, they were just at the right time and not too overdone, overall the video was very entertaining :3
12:07 damn look at all those games mentioned in that page, Commandos: Strike Force, Warhammer Dawn of War, Warhammer Online, EVE Online, EverQuest II, it's amazing that the MMO ones still alive even after 20 years
TH-cam sure knew what to recommend for me today. Hard Truck 2 was the main game I played back in those years. It was pretty wild trying to not get shot by Ka-50 helicopter with police decals or chased by the mafia car. Also, those radio hosts remind me of a different ones from the game Roadkill, similar vibe but Rig 'n' Roll is more PG-13 I guess :D
'A heightmap apocalypse where everyone wheres masks that conveniently make it so they don't need to have animated faces' Lol. Also, here's me doing my part since ya can't monetize the video.
I remember before launch seeing the great screenshots of the vehicles and the map and was exited. It looked like a high quality game similar to King of the Road/ 18 Wheels of Steel :) But somehow the gameplay and story couldnt hold up to these impressions... Truck sims have come a long way since. Funny enough, ATS was a little too boring for me, I speeded everywhere and treated my truck like a racecar :) What would todays high quality ATS be like with a story mode?, What kinda " story" should a trucking game have? There arent even that many Arcade racing games that have a good story, a slow trucking game could use some spicy story in between drives...
Omg I forgot about this game I spent a lot of time in it as a young kid 😂 looking back this game was more advanced in ways than ATS or ETS and wish they took the game more seriously cause it'd be interesting to see how it turned out if it were still around today.
37:25.... I laugh that 2014 was far off future. Thats 10 years ago and still no reliable holograms. Also 54:38 gave me a good laugh. "I love dogs that look like dogs". I broke out laughing at 1:04:59. This was my favorite game in 2014, while I was wating for American Truck Simulator to release.
5:30 OMG I REMEMBER THE DEMO FOR THIS GAME! IT WAS THIS AND MEGARACE THAT ESTABLISHED MY LOVE OF RACING GAMES, AND THEN HOT WHEELS STUNT TRACK DRIVER 2 (Gettin' Dirty) CEMENTED IT!

if you ever need help with czech translation hmu on this comment, I'll drop some contact
There’s a direct line between euro truck sim and mk ultra and this is the greatest fuckin thing ive ever learned
What did I miss?!
The soundtrack in this game has no business being this good.

Kicking myself for not having made the connection
Yes it does feel like freelancer

Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for the playlist!
Having Bumblefoot of all people be on the soundtrack was a bit of a surprise, but not an unwelcome one
i think your viewcount and subcount are missing a few zeroes

The second one had become a cult classics in all ex-USSR, mostly due to it's soundtrack.
I never thought I'd see the day when we got a Rig 'n' Roll documentary Amazing work!

Thought i was having a stroke when "Different Girl" came on, I love The Green Blink killers ft. Wheezy
As yes, the coin slide and spending half the school night driving around before your minutes are up. Those were the times.

Thanks! This was a very good video essay. I think I would like this game to pass a few hours. Thank you for the video.
Thank you! Glad I could provide some entertainment
@@Alien_Bob very entertaining. These videos take a lot of effort to make, specially solo
idk how you got into the algorithm but i'm glad you did! great video
Tellin Lies somehow also shows up in LA Rush's soundtrack and that's definitely two extremely random racing games to share a song
The N64 Rush games were some of my favorite games as a kid. I dread having to check out LA Rush some day, but I feel it's inevitable...
@@Alien_Bob Guilty pleasure of mine, I have my copy because I just happened to forget to return it before Blockbuster closed
15:58 *GOD* Tier information
🎶IT TOOK ME A SIX DAY WEEKEND (toooooo watch this videoeoeoeo)🎶 very informative and amazingly done video essay 👏
This game gives me alot of nostalgia
"you can not outrun the cops in your big rig" skill issue

Dang, do I miss the days of games stemming from MK Ultra research. They don't make them like they used to.
the tommy tallarico jumpscare holy shit
his mother must be very proud indeed
16:23 also known as "Rig'n'Roll TIROWIEC" in poland. I still have physical copy of this game
I got Rick Rolled truck simulator
backshot boys is crazy
I loved this game as a kid.
I love how the cars and trucks are very much of the Era but set in the future im guessing the grand caravan and intrepid are frozen in time and still being produced. I like the flat face Frieghtliner you have

Hard truck 2 was my first pc game.I had alot of fun with that game
I'm not a gamer 👾, but I enjoy your work! Educational and literal LOLs
Thank you very much!

Thank you very much!
i wish the las vegas dlc was released
YOOOOO, i have a cd of this game sitting somewhere in my room. I bought the game in either a grocery store or kiosk in Poland XD
Backshot Boys😭🙏
More like Testtruck Unlimited.
Good video
Second comment I just…… he literally shielded himself from the rocket…. Masterpiece
[some witty and funny comment]
I really do enjoy this game. As jank as it is.
There's something magical about it fore sure
Please do video on the 18 wheels of steel series

What version should I go after if I want the most "complete" version?
The one with the monster cup add-on
@@Alien_Bob Radio tracks as well?
I'm not 100% but I think so. The Steam version has the most music cut out.
22:28 Christopher Walken cameo?
