    Hello Rachel,My wife is from Slovakia and we have a recipe for Ajvarski sauce used with eggplants. I am sure this is the same one you are making. Yes, indeed there are peppers named Ajvarski Peppers they are readily available I bought mine from Baker Creek and I am growing about ten plants and plan to make and can the sauce in small jars. This is my first year growing them but they look great today.

    I'm glad to have found a fellow gardener in South Carolina. I just moved to Laurens, SC this past fall and gardening is going pretty good so far, despite the recent monsoon rains.

    Thank you for the weekly garden updates. I binged your channel videos yesterday since I am a first time veggie gardener about an hour away from you in Lyman SC. I’ve learned some valuable lessons already. Thanks again. I look forward to more weekly tours.

    It may help if you stick plastic forks in with your seedlings to create a barrier gate from the critters they dont like sharp items and planting a detterring pest flower like nasturtium and marigolds with your seedlings may give them a chance. Good luck! I enjoyed your video

    I would love to see more on tips for harvesting from your herb garden. My herbs have started to grow like crazy and I know I need to start harvesting and using them.

    First time gardener here also from SC and yes, the week of rain split my larger tomatoes but also my smaller tomatoes are now ripening too early 😫

      If they are blushing you can go ahead and harvest them! Leave them on the countertop and they will ripen! This SC weather is brutal!

    We have Bermuda grass in our front yard, but not the back. It was actually planted on purpose in the front and your right, it's a weeding nightmare.

    my family plans on moving to SC from Massachusetts. I am happy to see your garden, you have the same problems as I with crop damage. Damn bugs. I am anxious to garden in SC and am curious about the seasons. Great job, Lisa

      SC is great for gardening! It’s probably hotter and more humid here, but I’m a big fan of the mild winters. Plus the Appalachian mountains protect us from a lot of the more severe weather we might get.

    I think your pumpkin is a summer squash, we call them a patty pan squash here in the UK. They are very good producers.

    Try the 'Heavy Black' Landscape plastic underneath your mulch around your Blueberry bushes. That should also be strong enough to stop the Bermuda grass from coming up in that spot.

      It might be, but I'm not comfortable contributing to the microplastics in the soil near my edibles.

      @@AuxhartGardening If your not willing to SMOTHER it w/Landscape plastic, then you will have to do it the 'hard way' and if that's more to your liking... BEAUTIFUL. I simply wanted to give you a way to deal with the problem. It is YOUR garden... DO YOU! Be blessed!

    A couple of layers of cardboard may help control your Bermuda grass.

    • @AuxhartGardening
      @AuxhartGardening  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve done layer after layer of cardboard and it always comes up through it in the end. It helps a little bit, for a little while though.

    Nasturtiums do better in cooler weather.
