Inside in the Tower Bridge engine room

One of the three engines was removed to allow space for the electric motors to be installed. The removed engine is at Forncett Steam Museum in Norfolk where it is demonstrated working with steam on museum open days.

I was under the impression the bridge leaves were raised using an electric motor.

They are now but these are what they used to raise the bridge with, it’s their for display purposes only
