It is the best assembly line gun ever. They do some hand fitting and from looking at yours a lot more hand fitting than I thought. The barrel is going to have a lot more scratching cause it is so tightly fit. Bushingless barrels always do. Don’t be discouraged, it is an awesome lookin pistola Amigo!
Good video man. I have a Kodiak waiting for me at the shop to pick up this week. I got the Tri Tone though. Disappointing about the barrel wear, but it adds character. Nice to hear you being well spoken about this instead of "Yeah, umm, I like this and it's cool and this is nice." I learned a good bit. :)
Thanks I appreciate the kind words. I feel I get long winded but I want to say as much as I can so that you get as much information you can about the firearms I review. If someone is considering buying this gun and they find this video I want them to walk away with as much information as possible to help them make a good decision. Barrels and barrel hoods on quality 1911’s always have final clearancing wear marks brother. Personally, its like an individual “fingerprint” or character markings unique to every one, which I rather like. Dan Wesson is top notch! (Side note: VZ makes all the g10 grips for Dan Wesson) Im saving up for a new model Valor In 10mm
First rate review! Some very nice details of the sort we are all interested in. I was a little disappointed in the bronze components showing wear, but it had to be said. Thanks. P.S. You shoot very well, by the way. And to hear that you think it's more accurate than your CZ Shadow 2, well that's saying something. Maybe it's not too bad to be an "old country boy", huh? I like your place too. Only thing that could be better is if you had a few coonhounds kenneled in the yard. That's not a slam. I sincerely mean it. I got 3 myself. Subscribed.
Dude, I'm happy that you have your dream gun, this isn't personally geared towards you, but what I don't understand is why guy's go out and buy 10mm, .357 magnum, .45 super, .44 magnum and .454 Casull only to shoot some of the weakest ammunition, 10mm owners need to stop patronizing ammunition companies selling bullshit 10mm ammunition with .40 load velocities for premium 10mm prices, if your ammunition says a 180gr 10mm bullet is going below 1250fps out of a 4.6" it's not full power 10mm ammunition, a real true example of 10mm ammunition is a 180gr bullet hitting 1500+fps out of a 6" barrel or 1450+fps out of a 4.6" barrel, boutique ammunition velocities stop around 1275fps-1380fps out of a 4.6". Ain't no fking way I'm spending nearly $3000 to shoot underpowered ammunition it defeats the purpose, it's like buying a Hellcat or Redeye Demon but only running it on pump gas and never above 70, it basically becomes a trophy!🏆 I lie to you not sir the most bullshit 10mm ammunition that I ever bought was Sellier & Bellot 10mm Auto back in 2017 it was $40 a box and it was straight up garbage, I had some Underwood and SIG, my intentions was to purchase more SIG it was $25 a box and slightly under back then but Bass Pro was out so I went to my local mom & pop gun shop and got beat the fk over the head, I could have just bought 2 boxes of .40S&W for the price of that Shit & Bologna ammunition. Federal American Eagle is a 180gr 10mm bullet rated at 1060fps, that's definitely most definitely .40S&W but if it's all you could get, I would have bought .40, because some of that .40 is hotter than some of the garbage 10mm, and the .40 is like half the price, I would have looked for some Fiocchi 170gr at this date 11/08/2022 is 1050fps, 410ftlb energy, and $31 back in 2017 this ammunition would have been around $15-$21.
You sir are correct! At the time this video was produced the ammo I had was what I could find. Now a few years later I reload my own 10mm and I push a 180 grain bullet at nearly 1,800 fps. Thanks for the long comment I enjoy reading these!
Good video. I’ve got a 10 mm Specialist on the way. Also another Dan Wesson ECO .45 on its way. I love the Dan Wesson’s. I want that DWX Compact 9mm too with the red trigger apparently none of those are ready for shipping yet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I like CZ too and also have the Shadow 2 for a competition gun and it’s an amazing gun. Have a great day. 🙏
The shadow 2 will be my next video I am working on it right now. Just have to figure out which direction to go because it’s so versatile. Thanks for watching!
You said you bought 3 10rnd cobra mags Are you sure they weren't 9rnd? Because that mag fit up flush to the Mag well ? I own the same DW kodiak 10mm and ordered that 10rnd cobra mag and its extends past the mag well to show the side of the mag . By the way nice shooting!
@@justagunguy1386 Which base pad did you get to go with it to hide the excess mag? There are a bunch to choose from on their sight. Great review and very helpful. Just got one and looking forward to shooting it for first time this weekend. First 10mm. Have an Ed Brown and Wilson Combat, so hoping this stacks up with them.
These are the exact mags I have! I got the alloy base pads as well. This gun now has a Trijicon SRO 1 MOA red dot installed! It’s an absolute tack driver! www.trippresearchinc.com/10r-10mm-sm/
Nice gun and nice shooting 👍 I have the Dan Wesson Bruin 10mm , and I can confirm it is everything as good as what you say about the Kodiak. I do like the Bruins single safety ( like you , I don’t have any desire for an ambidextrous safety on a long slide ‘ hunting’ Pistol ) I must say that is a very odd plunger on that Kodiak , although the Bruins plunger is rather unique in its own way as it is contoured to fit the slide and requires a take down tool ( which I don’t care for ) And the trigger , what more could anyone ask for !? Simply the best
JollyBruin 4570 the contour of the Bruin is what shyed me away I just wasn’t a fan of it! Love my Kodiak! I need to do an updated review as I have had the slide milled and a Trijicon SRO installed it’s a laser now!!
JustAGunGuy ... so , did you have the work done by Dan Wesson ? I know that they’re owned by CZ USA , but I do believe that DW still does their own proprietary workmanship is that correct ? ( just curious where I would send mine off to have work done ) I really want a different plunger , regardless if it deviates from its smooth line contour , it’s a tricky little b!+
I ordered the 10 rnd. with optional base pad . go back to the Tripp site and look at the 10rnd. alloy base pad it extends up 3 tiers in the front where the 9rnd, has one tiers up in the front like yours . the 10 rounder hangs down I returned it and ordered the 9 rounder . look at your mag it will be stamped 9r-10mm- rg. Not trying to knock your video I enjoyed it well done but im 99.9 percent certain you own a 9round mag from Tripp.
Charles C. I can assure you they are ten rounders if you have a Facebook and would like pictures and video I can do that message me on my JustAGunGuy page and I can let you see it. Thanks for watching. Check out this link these are the mags I ordered. www.trippresearchinc.com/10r-10mm-sm/
A lot of the holsters I am finding are just for the 5 inch rail 1911 which means the end of the gun sticks out the other side of the holster which I do not like I am probably going to have one custom-made just trying to find someone who is reasonable also the gun is not drilled or tapped for a mount for an optic but I am having this one sent back to Dan Wesson do you have the slide in Milled for a Trijicon SRO
@@justagunguy1386 not planning to do it on this one. I like it pure, as is. That's why I wanted to ask for holsters because I do not want the slide sticking out.

No this will not be a defensive handgun strictly target maybe some hunting once or twice a year. I have another video on my channel with a custom Glock 40 called the destroyer. It was double stack and I feel that the difference between that gun and the Kodiak is only capacity. I got 10 round mags for the Kodiak, while the Glock 40 held 16? I think? So six rounds difference, while that is a lot I feel ten rounds is definitely enough for what I need. Also double stacks 1911’s that I have shot feel HUGE in my hand not comfortable at all.
I could not think of a more appropriate music for a gun channel than a western movie music.
