Pretty sure it's a weight thing as there are some other puzzles that work the same way but with different objects. Like one bit where a trapdoor won't open until your standing on it and holding a weird-saxophone-thing. :-)
Loved this game, can remember all the puzzle solutions. Games I would suggest to try : Citadel, castle quest, ravenskull, sentinel and any of the Repton’s to name a few :)

I saved after finishing every level once I'd figured out how to do it with the minimum number of changes...and the hamster thing is much less weird than killing babies that happens later!!
I think the game was originally released by Micro Power in 1986 and then re-released by Superior in 88. Maybe the reviewer for The Micro User had a preview copy of the re-release. EDIT: Oh, no, the review says the supplier was Micro Power! Dunno then!

I assumed the egg time made time go forwards rather than becoming heavier...so holding it makes time move quicker and the rope disintegrates

Also, did you realise that there was a windows version of Imogen released? (2002 I think)

Yeah, those things are odd. Are they actually babies or some other weird dungeon dwelling thing?
