@Conrad Lorgar ultra ego is the sole creation of Vegeta. It's a unique destruction form to him and possibly other saiyans. Its properties are different from Toppo's destroyer mode as well. And Beerus can use Ultra instinct. He just hasn't mastered it yet. His mastery is likely at the level of Goku's omen form. Despite that he used ultra instinct to successfully fend off the other destroyers by himself in the manga.

@Conrad Lorgar you didn't listen to me. Ultra Ego is Vegeta's variation of a destroyer form much like Toppos. He utilized the God skill of destruction to create his own unique form that has other unique abilities besides destruction. Like the useless ability to get stronger the more he gets hit. That's pointless if you can't take enough hits to surpass your enemy.
Since he has a flashy form like Goku's version of Ultra instinct it isn't truly mastered until it can be utilized perfectly without a transformation. Like you said it's natural for destroyers to use destruction and natural for angels to use Ultra instinct. But Goku and Vegeta have their own unique transformations they use to utilize those powers. It was the same for Toppo.

That’s probably because originally, Beerus was meant to be the weakest, then Toriyama promptly forgot, and made him the strongest.

If he had focused on fighting to protect them to the end when goku and Frieza got him off the platform they'd have won the tournament. He is not the best of strategist and seemed to have his priorities out of line. Frieza for all his evil has enough sense to understand he had to work with the z fighters so their universe can win. Jiren didnt seem to want to work with his universe to try and win and only do it himself...his losing had to do with his bad decisions.
Beerus is the strongest by far, he wasn’t using ultra ego (likely due to…you know it not being made yet) and just his incomplete UI, he casually not only dodged, but one shot Moscow, hit champa who was in the middle of 3 other GoD, grabbed champa, threw him into the air high enough that the other GoD (who again, didn’t notice the guy NEXT TO THEM, getting blitzed, hit, and thrown) thought it was beerus, while beerus made it back under Moscow before they even realized. We know he can use ultra ego btw, Toyotaro said so.

I think belmod smile in the end was because of what the grand priest said “gods will not participate in the tournament” and not because he was hiding, making a strategy or unhurt.
That’s my personal opinion but once belmod realized that GoDs will not participate in the tournament, he instantly thought that jiren would carry them during the tournament and no one would be able to stop him especially that his power is superior to that of belmod and now that GoDs are disqualified from the tournament he was so happy cause he thought no one would be able to win against jiren.

I think belmod original plan was to make zeno disqualify all gods from the tournament so jiren can easily win.
And he made that plan work by backstabbing sidra when they were focusing beerus which made all GoD
go against each other which caused too much chaos and therefore zeno wasn’t happy with the match and decided to disqualify all GoD from the tournament and that’s why belmod was happy when he heard about it and smiled.

Belmod is the only god who DIDNT CARE about winning this fight between GoD and claim the title “the strongest GoD” because there’s no point in it when there’s a mere mortal in your universe who is already stronger than you so he just planned all this out and his plan worked

In the manga, Beerus is also the only GoD to achieve some form of Ultra Instinct, though he usage of the technique is imperfect!
Also, although it's not perfect, but Beerus can do ultra instinct like goku on the first or maybe second time.

Jiren surpassing Belmod has no bearing on Belmod's ranking. In the anime version, Belmod is stronger than Beerus. Beerus tried to play that off as just losing an arm wrestle. But there is no reason not to believe Whis' statement that Belmod was stronger than Beerus. For some reason, the manga decided to make Quitela be the one that Beerus had an arm wrestle with. I guess to play off the whole cat and mouse dynamic.
In the manga, it's a bit unclear where he ranks. Because it seemed like he was purposely pretending to be weak in the GoD battle. He's the only one to come out of it unscathed.
But the manga feels a bit weird, honestly. Because it feels like Akira Toriyama and Toyotaro are making the GoDs be these untouchable entities. Even though Belmod is supposed to be weaker than Jiren, it feels like Goku being able to beat Belmod will be retconned to have the GoDs be at this currently unreachable level. For all intents and purposes Black Frieza and Gohan Beast are supposed to be the strongest in the story. If you go by the events and statements. Yet, for some reason, I think this is going to be walked back at some point.

Idk where ya'll are getting this information from. Belmod is definitely one of the strongest. In the anime, Whis specifically says that he's stronger, and Beerus confirms Belmod beat him in arm wrestling. And in the manga battle royale, Belmod spends the fight joking around, while the others fight Beerus. So in both there's literally no evidence that Belmod is weaker.

interesting thought/perspective. all the gods jumped beerus and could barely touch him, SSG Goku was able to fight (somewhat) on par with him in a 1v1, and by the TOP saga, was much stronger. gives a better idea of why the other gods were so shocked at goku and vegeta's raw power, since both of them most likely surpassed at least half of the other GODs.

Nah. They were spared becauqe they were the 4 highest universes in the ranking of mortals. However, it isn't a ranking based on power but on well being / quality of life of the mortals. One easy way to tell that is universe 7 being arguably the 2nd strongest universe before the tournament while also being 2nd to last on the mortal ranking

I feel like no one ever mentions the fact that Belmod didn’t need any healing after the destroyers fought. No matter if it was because he played dead and therefore didn’t take extra damage, it’s still a cool detail
