Porsche or Lotus and WHY?
Lotus. The company has made a tremendous come back with this car....and it is British ;) Both cars are exceptional GTs though.
I'd take the English car in a heartbeat, I like to drive on track and on windy country roads.

For a long road-trip however the Porsche would be more suitable.
Lotus, I believe it handles better, is more exclusive, for me looks better, HAS A MANUAL GEARBOX, sounds better... Porsche feels cold, but I fell in love with Lotus. My soul feels closer to Lotus
Compared to a base 911, yes; but not the GT3. GT3 is one of the best cars ever made. Destroys the Lotus, as good as it is.
Fluterra Evora GT430 would be a good challenge. Evora 400 is a Carrera/Carrera S rival

Bad comparison. The lotus is closer to a cayman gt4. Clearly the gt3 wins here at every mark other than price.
If I had the money for a 991 GT3, I would go for the Porsche. This Lotus is amazing too and I'm sure it's a seriously enjoyable car.
They both sound awesome, but i think overall the Lotus sounds slightly better.

The Porsche sounds and looks better, but I am always going to go with the car that has the manual transmission and more driver focused interior, and that means I'd go with the Lotus! :)
ROFL "more driver focused interior". You obviously never sat in a 911, there's no car in the world with a more driver focused interior. Driving position in the Lotus is like a hatchback in comparison. 911 is a car that is perfect in every single way, Evora can't even dream of being decent in any category, let alone be nearly as good as the 911.
derbigpr500 I have sat in both a GT3 and many a Lotus actually, but thanks for the snap judgement. I prefer simplistic and minimalistic driver focused interiors, but that's just my opinion. No need to get butthurt dude lmao

Two of my favorite cars.... you read my mind
we all know from a technical and economical standpoint, and its just plain obvious, that the Porsche is the better all around car in nearly every aspect.....
But in reality, the Lotus sounds way way better and is much more ingrained with passion and exuberance as a true drivers car.... They deserve a ton of credit given their history and what they have been through as a manufacturer, and they have a ton of rich racing heritage. Ive always felt like Lotus is extremely underrated and it breaks my heart to see them struggle and not be able to have the presence in the United States that they deserve. Id certainly take the Evora 400 over the Porsche (and believe me, as a lifetime Le Mans fan, im a huge Porsche fan at that) for the intangible reasons, and to be different.
Kyong Hansen it's the history and the unique style of the lotus that sells it for me I currently have almost 10,000 dollars saved up rn at 16 I'm hoping by my mid 20s I can afford a used evora. It's my dream car I would take it over a Porsche any day
Looking at what used 2005 porsche gt3s go for and used 2005 elises go for, it looks like Lotus holds its valur better.. then theres the reliablity and cheap parts for a blown toyota engine.. gimme the drivers car.. give me the Evora

So hard to choose from at this point it really just comes down to the driver. I love both cars. Always love lotus and Porsche so for me it's a tough decision. I still go Porsche though. Just personal preference. I've dreamed of owning a Porsche since I was a kid.
If I heard that sound at night I surely wouldn't believe it was a Lotus with a toyota engine.. Mighty impressive. Go Lotus. 😉

The Evora 400 is the absolute base model. You need to spend another £60K for an Evora in that league

I don't think it's fair to compare two cars that have a 50% price tag difference: here in Europe you can buy the Lotus, fully equipped, for less than 100.000€. The GT3 STARTS at 140.000€, you have a ton of options to raise price to Ferrari territory and this can happen just if you are one of the lucky that are selected by Porsche to get one of their production slots.

Agreed. The answer is really more about what you want the car for - GT3 for track racing, Evora for street driving.

Well... As a Evora400 owner, i can say one thing: in the video, it wasn't at all of it's performance, it wasn't even in sport mode =|, I've tried the difference between normal, sport and race mode: it has a huge amount of differences between all of them... And it's the best car in the world that you can afford by that price range... Now I'm waiting for the Emira =)

Surprising but I think the Lotus actually sounds better than the Porsche.
Really no comparison though as the Lotus has a proper manual transmission more driver-focused engaging involving and fun than an automatic.

@@AutoTopnl It looks boring. Could not care. I own 2 Lotus Elises. Before I had a 911SC. Porsche is for the average (midlife / elderly person) It's just not a fun car. Lotus is undisputed in this. I can't even bring myself to selling my S2 after I bought the S3 to replace it with. Also they are not "only 20 million cars Edition like Porsche's. And regarding performance. If I need speed I would buy a Tesla. I must note that an Evora is a little too heavy for a sportscar though in my opinion. It's just too comfortable to be a real Lotus.
