    Not sure how TH-cam knew I’d like this video, but I did. My grandpa worked at the Corvette plant until 1990 when he passed away in an car accident. All the C4s make me think of him. Good video. Made me smile on a beautiful Saturday morning. 👊🏻

    I was in high school when these came out I thought the dash was the coolest thing ever. My dad on the other hand did not like it at all he thought it was cheesy. Now that I’m older I agree with him, lol but I still want one. Thanks for sharing 😎

    I got a 1986 vette that I’m working on to be better than she ever was. I don’t rough house mine at all and the fastest I’ve brought it to was 80 on a highway but I’m glad you showed us what their capable of so that we don’t have to, full respect!

      @@corvettemode1556 i have a 86, with the 3+1 auto. Driving to work with no traffic early in the morning, didn't even notice I was doing 100 MPH sitting at about 2,500 RPM. Fucking smooth at that speed

    Rode in my friends 87 vette a few time back in the day. It felt fast…..back in 1987.

      Ya they were up there with some of the fastest back then. It still feels fast today because of the torque. I have not been in a modern fast car. I’m sure those are on another level.

    The vette was in hibernation in these years along with any remaining muscle cars from the 60s. Not until the LT1 came around in 1992 followed by the LS1 in 1997 was there a significant reawakening.
    These L98 cars were fast from a stoplight but fell on their face after 50 mph.

    Those l98 doesnt make a lot of power but they got plenty of torque thats for sure.

      Ya she can do a burnout for days lol. I think it feels pretty fast up to about 50 mph then not so much

      @@corvettemode1556 although very beautiful to look at, those runners and TPI plenum starved the engine for air above 4,500 RPM. I had an 88 IROC with the L98. 345ft lbs of torque and it would roast the tires and was decently quick but after 4,000 RPM or so it would "tach out" and fall flat on its face. Miss that car very much.

      Yes 100% agree! I love my 87, they have tons of tourque, more than enough power for me, handle well, and have a really comfortable ride (as long as you have an 86 or later) I Daily mine In everything but snow and salt

    Tpi was the thing for the power level they were working with back in the day. And it looks really awesome. But it was a nearly impossible to make them Rev with a cam on that intake.

      Yes but that intake is the reason it makes the low down torque it does. Short stints off the line it beats much more powerful machines. These were never meant to be high revvers so it'd be better to maximize on the torque like it was built to do.

    Hello friends, I am writing to you from Spain, I have a Corvette c4, registered in January 1986, with an L98 engine.
    "I have an important question, could someone tell me where the VIN number is located on this car?"
    I only see it at the bottom of the windshield, it seems strange to me that it is not in another visible place.

      @@jmpower637 it is stamped in various areas on the car. Look around the battery. Under the battery it’s stamped frame rail facing the front wheel

    Mines a Z-52, Friend had it before me and hit 170. They where made to does that. No computer rev limiter. That was in 88'

      There’s no way a l98 is going to hit 170 unless it has much more power. C5 z06 tops out at 170.

      1987 has no reviews limiter, that came out in 1988. Yes 170mph. Would not lift until the digital speddo read 170mph. The car was designed to do that. Know your vettes.

      @@stimpacat the confirmed top speed of the car is 154 mph. So before you go lying to other corvette owners trying to sound cool. Realized we are capable of research. Maybe you should do some yourself buddy. No sense in lying to other corvette owners. We know what we have.
      1987 Corvette top speed: 154 mph
      1987 Callaway Twin Turbo: 177.9 mph
      So unless you have the Callaway twin turbo, you didn’t go 170. Go try to sound cool somewhere else.

      I think the digital speedo goes as high as you can get haha. Top speed is around 150 mph for this one. Callaway model got up to 177 mph.
      I have not topped it out yet. I need new tires lol. I’ll get some this winter

    The 1980 c4 corvettes were like a futuristic retro kinda car, back to the future shouldve used the 1984 corvette in the movie but it is what it is
    But now the corvette is based off of sport and not retro and futuristic designs which is pretty depressing, now all the new corvettes kinda remind me of lambos and ferraris which dissapoints me and thats why i like the c4 1980 corvettes better

      Thank you! So far I have not had any issues with my digital dash. I’d say if your looking at a c4. Just make sure it’s bright and smooth with the lighting. Should be good enough then. But you never know when they will go. If it does go out though, there is a guy who you can send it to, that will make it work like new again! His work is popular around the c4 corvette pages

      You shouldn’t have issues with a digi display if it’s working when you get your hands on it and you take care of it. It’s a really simple liquid crystal display (LCD) so as long as you keep it our of the sun it shouldn’t really fus up.

      Little late on this, but if any of the many grounds that the dash has are broken, it won’t function. They’re old enough cars now that they just work when they want to. My ‘85 works 70% of the time lmao I can’t daily it anymore cuz of it

    30 years ago this was considered fast. Today, this would be considered average for any passenger car best. After 125 years we are getting ICE cars dialed in and now they want to ban them in favor of electric cars. I’m not saying we should abandon electric vehicles but I think we should let technology and innovation advance naturally and let people decide.

      Is it stock? I just bought an 89 c4 corvette couple weeks ago saw it only went up to 85 mph. I haven't gone up to 85 yet. Curious to know if mine will go over 85 mph now.
