And therein lies the beauty of TH-cam. I’m 66…fairly handy around the house, and until I watched this, I didn’t even know what the hell an oscillating saw was! You creating that template and cutting that long curved tenon….was truly pure woodworking artistic genius, Ross!! And I sincerely hope that you were able to put the remainder of that pew’s solid wood to good use!
Ross, just an FYI. I have been woodworking for a few years, but because of you and a couple others on TH-cam I started doing furniture repair, restoring, and refinishing. One big takeaway I got from you is the oscillating tool. I bought one and use on almost every job now. Keep up the great work and thank you!
@@rosstaylorwoodworking728 Agreed. The oscillating tool is something added to my tool chest, but at one time I was going to go all hand tools, so I bought many antiques and learned how to use them. Now I am what I call an integrationist (power and hand tools). I use the best tool for the job, but continue to be open to learning more. And your projects are teaching me. Keep doing great things!
Good grief, that's a long pew. Be darn near impossible today to find lumber that size. It is a beauty and you did not take away its character. Great job!!!
I purchased a mahogany church pew which has been cut down to a four seater. It had four fold down chairs, with cut velvet seats. Fortunately it fit in our house. It’s quite comfortable, and I have used it as my chair for years saving wear and tear on our expensive couch, and two chairs. I have a bench on the other corner of the living room I also sit on. For thirty years I didn’t sit on our first sofa, and chairs. But I did use the original chair which is where the bench is now. I Vice the church pew which is quite comfortable, with massive springs in the chair fold down seat. Reminiscent of the spring in old cars of the 1950’s.
You did I fine job and I know it’s up to the customer how much work goes into and how refinished it get, but I would of really like to see the seat refinished to where it was one color again. It’s sure a beautiful piece. I wonder how old it is I don’t think you said. Anyway, as always really nice job. Looking forward to more videos!
Great video, I can't find any smaller benches, so was wondering how I would go about doing this, it always helps to see someone else do it first. Thanks and great job!
Wow! Kudos to you! Figuring, elec saws creeps me out. Too dangerous- glad u handle them w/ precision. (?): Client wanted scratch marks to remain. I would have liked a mahogany stein w/ varnish top coat or polyurethaning ( if applicable-don’t know) just like dark warm colors. Love Mahogany. U sir are super prof. Thanks 4 video.
you did a very nice job, Ross. i assume the customer wanted to retain the original patina on the seat? if it were mine, i'd prefer the seat be redone to match the rest of the wood that didn't have much wear and tear, but to each his or her own. it's nice to see you back again. do you and your mother still have a resale booth? how is it doing?
Your intro made me chuckle, Ross. It was a treat to watch you work. You did a grand job, as always.

one of the best inventions ever , but still learn to use some hand tools .

Looks great, man. My mom has a church pew in her house from a church her father founded in Richmond VA back in the 50's. Pretty cool.

It's been a while that you don't bring to us more videos. My husband's and I, love your job

Glad you liked it!
Beautiful work - looks great! 👍
Excellent job.
Lovely job Mr Taylor.
Great Job. You make it look easy, but I know better. Takes real skill to cut this down and match it up like you did.
Another beautiful job!
Stunning work!
Nice work... thanks friend
Good job, Ross! What did you do with the rest of the bench? Did the client let you keep the left over wood? Greetings from Texas...
they are going to keep it for now and i may make another bench later
@@rosstaylorwoodworking728 Great!

Nice job Ross! Wonder if it would be worthwhile fabricating two replica endpieces to use with the leftover seat portion and _voilà!_ a second bench! 😁
that was part of the plan but the second bench was put off for now . i made a pattern of the ends i case they want to make the second bench
@@rosstaylorwoodworking728
At least with the pattern you always have the option 👍🏼 Would make a good “rainy day” (or other downtime) project 😉

no we dropped out of the booth , they moved to a new location and did not like the place
Nice work.
Nice job. Using the jigsaw was a lot safer than trying to make that type cut with a circular saw.
Zhe use of the ozillating saw iz Genious.
Great job.
I want to do this to a bench I have. This helps!
WOW AMAZING WORK WHAT IS EBAY ADRESS GOD BLESS
Have you tried using a magic eraser instead of a green pad
