Finnick is such a kind person.. he saved so many people. RIP Finnick. I love how Peeta calms down when Katniss kisses him.

Same! That scene tugs at my heart. I love Peeta, he had it bad for Katniss since book 1. It just took awhile for Katniss to come around.
Yeah, and it refers back to Catching Fire, of course.
Another one, only in the book, is:

"I can't" -Peeta
Said when Katniss wants to kill herself by nightlock pill after having killed Coin, and Peeta stops her.
For the longest time I was sure this was also a repeated exchange, but it wasn't. Probably refers back to the first nightlock scene, though, when Peeta initially wants to stop Katniss from eating the berries.
Suzanne Collins was CRAZY good at foreshadowing, references, and parallels like that.

First time I ever cried from a book was actually in Catching Fire when those birds made Finnick think Annie was being tortured and he was breaking down. I was 14 though and it was 2011 lol

Man, I remember how much I was on the edge of my seat when I first saw this scene in cinema. Still makes my heart rise a bit till this day.

I saw this scene when I was nine and I was freaked out, I'm fourteen now and I still get goosebumps..
sameeeee, I started to shiver from all the intense scenes and my leg wouldn't stop moving I wanted it to end like crazy HAHAHA
When Katniss says stay with me, she said the same thing I’m catching fire when she had a nightmare and Peeta said always. This makes it seem that Katniss didn’t just kiss Peeta do he would come out of his trance, but so he would help her overcome the living nightmare she is in now

I remember having to read the scene with finnick twice cuz I was in disbelief .

Finnick knew what he was doing. He knew throwing his trident at the mut was a risky move cause he was loosing his main weapon. But he knew katniss needed to stay alive and he was prepared to die for that. I know that doesn't make it any less tragic. Especcially knowing that Annie was pregnant but he could see the bigger picture and knew what needed to be done. Luckily katniss made sure it was a quick death

The one thing I never got about this scene, was how on earth was the pod able to hear Katniss saying Nightlock the third time, shed already dropped beforehand and she said it very quietly.
maybe it's just like one missisipi, two missisipi or highly sensitive to voice detection lmaooo

In the first book, it was said that Katniss didn’t know what Peeta meant that night on the roof before the first games, when he said “I don’t want them to change me, even if I’m gonna die.” Which I just noticed could have been foreshadowing, or just a connection between the beginning and end that Collins made 😭😭❤️

maybe it's just me but there was a little waver in katniss's voice when she said "keep going" after seeing finnick's wanted poster knowing damn well he's gone. my heart broke bc she's trying to stay strong so his death would mean something.

he sacrificed himself for the bigger goal. he knew the only way for the rebellion to continue on the right path was for Katniss to survive no matter what.

Brilliant framing in the “always” shot. Peeta and Katniss staring at each other while Gale is perfectly centered in the background behind them. Between them but out of focus and ultimately inconsequential.

This scene always breaks my heart bc (a) Finnick dies, but also because (b) how much inner turmoil Peeta is experiencing. He’s terrified of himself so he tells everyone to leave him behind. Poor guy. The Capitol really messed him up

Can we please have this as a video game? The narrative of this story is good and most of the scenes here would be pretty cool playing as a third person shooter game.

I think the main problem with that is that people already know the ending so it wouldn’t be as meaningful to finish it which would probably make it risky in profits or earnings. However I know there would be a handful amount of people who would play the game

Say what u want about the two mockingjay movies, but this sequence with finnick dying and then the peeta and KATniss part was a pretty incredible 5 minutes. Amazing music too.
So I noticed one of them had a fully automatic gun. Why couldn't they give the gun to Finnick or someone who was already down there and just mow down the mutts? All Finnick had was like a pick-axe-type weapon and he was clearly outnumbered. If he had that fully automatic gun, he might have lived. I know there was no time to think. They were relying on instincts and survival. Just a thought.
it’s because finnick is really good with a trident, it’s his signature weapon and no one else could use it

Finnick is quicker and more agile with the trident. If they gave him the gun, he'd actually be dead sooner

Pretty sure he figured that out long before this.
I'd say Finnick went down in the movie even worse than in the book: whereas in the book, he was already decapitated and dead before Katniss dropped the Holo, here he was still alive being mutilated and screaming in pain
And it seemed like his back was broken since he fell on that railing, so he probably couldn’t even fight back at all.

@Janiyah Baylor lol yh I know but I was talking in the literal sense, although the book is written from her point of view so we don't really know what he truly wanted, afterall he did have new wife and baby on the way which I think he wouldn't want to lose, and apart from that well even if we may know someone really well it doesn't mean we can read their mind to know what they truly mean . Physically yes she did help but emotionally maybe not so much lol

Pretty much the same thing in that situation. They weren't letting Finnick out. There were too many of them on him at that point.

Right like that’s so sudden and horrifying and the poor girl barely had a chance to process that it was happening before having to keep running. That moment always shocks me because it’s genuinely so surprising and unexpected.
I was so young when I watched this movie, still don’t get why he had to die... like there are some deaths where you expect, but his? It wasn’t

@@miahsjamal eh, tbh finnicks death was one of the worst parts of the movie. not only is it just really uneccesary as he really didn't need to die, they had a lot of stuff set up for him after the rebellion that would have been pretty cool to see but they pretty much just kill it off with him. and in the movie they do it NO justice. at least in the book it was waaay more heroic until he went down finally.
Mockingjay p2 was an emotional roller coaster. I literally cried the whole movie.

If you think about it, Finnick the Victor from District 4 Was good with tridents and specialized with combat with it, He gave up his trident to save Katniss and had to use a knife which is way smaller than a trident and also he wasn't that good with it, So next time you think about Finnick remember him as a hero who saved Katniss Cause he could of easily kept the trident and saved himself but no, He put others first, Man.. District 4 Lost 2 Great and Genuine victors..

there are 2 things about those mutts that this clip doesn't really do a good job of portraying that truly show how terrifyingly good at his job Snow is, 1) these mutts keep repeating Katniss's name, and 2) they smell like roses, which Snow REEKS of. They were designed as a deliberate physical AND psychological attack on sooooo many levels

They are horrible team members if you can't have at least one on stand by. If there were at least one, I'm pretty sure Finnick would've made it 😠

WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT HOW IN THE BOOK KATNISS KILLS FINNICK. She was afraid and has PTSD by this point and when she heard the sound of the mutts she panicked and pulled people (finnick) off the ladder to get herself to safety. That's why his death haunted her so deeply at the end

In her defense when she realized what she had done she tried to go back but Gale forced her to keep moving
