I'm part of Mc Coy my uncle was the last of that branch of the family, he was born in 1900 and died in 1991, he told alot of stories of family history, according to him some of it was actually true, some not it unfortunate just let the family rest, be safe and have a great day 🙃😉🙊🙉🙈

Lovely old time cemeteries on a hill. Just what you would imagine. I have read about the family feud but had not heard of little Sally before. So sad that so many little ones did not survive childhood diseases. Thank you for sharing her story. Great presentation too. 🙂

Uriah McCoy is my ggg grandfather, his grave is up on the mountain on the other side of the house, it’s a pretty good size cemetery. His house was originally across the road in the bottom but do to flooding a few years back the owners of the house now had it moved to where it is located now. Uriah was a brother to Randall McCoy’s wife Sarah Sally McCoy.

So Sarah was already a McCoy before she married Randall? Were they related? Wouldnt be a suprise. Alot of kinfolks married each other back then. Especially down here all throughout the rural south.

The tale of the Hatfields and the McCoys have always fascinated me. My family hales from the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, so l know how cranky those Mountain People can be over what we consider mere slights. I really liked the mini series of the same name with Kevin Costner, it covered the tale very well regarding the Romeo and Juliet mix between the two Clans. Great Work Chris, continue as you were.☺👍

Awesome video as usual. Thank you for taking the time to climb all those stairs to visit her grave for those of us who suffer from a fear of heights. Even watching a video if I can tell that the videographer is high off the ground I have to skip forward or I start to panic even though I know I'm safe on the ground.
There could be several reasons the property owner banned visitors from visiting the "forbidden" McCoy cemetery. One reason could be vandalism. Another could have been relic seekers or just plain ignorant people who trashed the area.

    • @hatfieldmccoy2359

The main reason is that Calvin, Alifair, Tolbert, Pharmer and Randolph Jr’s graves are right next to his house. As family I understand he needs his privacy and it would be aggravating having tourist up there all the time right next to your house and on your property.

The reason for the fued: Ansel Hatfield and Randall Mccoy served in the civil war together, Ansel deserted and Randell took it personally! Randell believed that he was a man of god. He said, god hates deserters. DevelAns was home and building his timber company while Randell was being held prisoner. That is the start of the fued that cost both families their loved ones! These two families have since called a truce, as it should be!

Randolph McCoy was take prisoner in July 1863. Anse Hatfield was present and accounted for in October. The first muster that listed him as AWOL was February 1864. So. Anse deserted between 4 and 7 months after McCoy was taken prisoner. If he resented Anse’s desertion it came AFTER the war was over. I doubt that was the case, because the overwhelming majority of Tug Valley men-on both sides-left service before the war ended. More than 50 men from the Peter Creek area deserted the 39th Kentucky (Union) in August 1864, when the 109th Colored Infantry was stationed with them at Louisa. They refused to serve with black soldiers.

The White House Across the Street is Where Aunt Bettys house. Where Roseanna went to live while Pregnant. Also The Mccoy Cemetery that is closed to visitors Is because, Hatfields own it. and They Only allow Family 2 or 3 times a year to visit. That would be where Alifar the Daughter killed at the New Years eve Attacks and Her brothers killed at the Paw Paw trees. Also, From The Rand'l Mccoy well site. Looking Across the street up the mountain is in fact the cemetary that is blocked off. Ran'l had them Buried there so he could look out and see them on the mountain. Obviously before it was so Grown up. Great Video! Im a Hatfield

Yes, McCoys are only allowed during Memorial Day weekend and the third weekend in September(This past weekend!)
I'm hoping to go visit next year, once I figure out how to get 'physical' proof I am a descendant.
Also, hey fam! :-) We gotta be related somehow!

The main reason is that Calvin, Alifair, Tolbert, Pharmer and Randolph Jr’s graves are right next to his house. As family I understand he needs his privacy and it would be aggravating having tourist up there all the time right next to your house and on your property.
