@tokkievonksteen It all depends on what a list of 25 greatest ever songs are based on. Is it album sales, is it how many weeks at the top of the charts, is it how many radio plays, is it what impact a certain song had to inspire other artists or other styles of music. After viewing this original Top 25 greatest songs ever list, it appears the list is compiled of songs that were popular through out late 60s early 70s that were mentioned and I can't think of any reason why Born To Be Wild was not in this list. And maybe you were born sometime after the 70s so you are probably not familiar with the evolution and popularity of hit songs. And for that matter, there's really no way you can include all the great songs one way or another. I happened to be a rock/heavy metal fan, but heck I also like the old Motown sound. Big fan of certain Country music also. So anybody's Top 25 list is obviously gonna be their personal preference. Power to the music forever 🎸

I'm amazed by all of the negative comments about this list. It's not that I agree with the list - it's just that I'm amazed that so many people seemed to actually expect someone to come up with a definitive list of the top 25 greatest songs ever.
There’s a fine line between personal choice and general consensus that this list unfortunately went over. I get having your own list, but this is just ridiculous. It’s just a personal list, not taking into account anything else
The list had to be titled as "My 25 favorite songs" or "25 random songs of all time" As it stands it cannot be taken seriously, and probably whoever chose the songs just wanted to controversy!
Time has come today-Chambers Brothers, Carry On-C S N, Hey Joe- Jimi Hendrix, God only knows-Beach Boys, Beatles, Iron Butterfly, so many to choose from. Procol Haram-Conquistador, is my fav.
A list of 25 greatest songs ever with two songs by Queen, two by Black Sabbath, two by Pink Floyd, only one by Rolling Stones and absolutely nothing by artists like The Beatles, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Van Halen, Supertramp, Men At Work, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bread, Carpenters, Michael Jackson and ABBA (yes, many of the most talented artists are not rockers)? A personal list, indeed. In my list, I would include also artists like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jefferson Airplane, AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Grateful Dead and Eagles. And there are many obscure bands which have released just one masterpiece, like Babe Ruth and Silverhead. In fact, I like hard and sweet rock, blues and country. And like to find out musical masterpieces of great artists I did not expect to be so interesting, like I did when reading Nile Rodgers' autobiography.

@tokkievonksteen Oh well the music died about fifteen or twenty years ago for me. Except for maybe a nice resurgence of Country music maybe. Example I'm a big Chris Stapleton fan. But there's really nothin new in rock that excites me and I hate Hip Hop, so I'm quite happy with my 60s, 70s, and 80s rock/ metal collections to listen to. I grew up with all these great bands and have such great memories of cruising around in my muscle cars with the 8 track stereo blasting away and what I'd give to just go back in time to enjoy one of them days again. I feel blessed to have lived them three decades a young person growing up and I sincerely believe they were the three best decades in America will ever see, especially when it comes to the music.
A classic rock radio station stated here in Santa Fe a long time ago. They considered Stairway to heaven to be the greatest rock song ever and played it for 24 hours straight on their first day.
Lucky you. When I lived in Charlotte years ago when a station changed its format it played Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel for 24 hours. To this day I get convulsions when I hear that song.
I once did a five hour car/auto trip, where the played it for the whole trip, I became really, really bored of the repetition. It is a great song, but I still prefer Bohemian Rhapsody, maybe because of that memory or torture of listening to it time after time.
All of these songs are amazing but I definitely think there are way more fantastic songs that should be put on the list (like a few of The Beatles songs) but I do appreciate the Queen songs very much :)
My feeling is that this list was compiled by someone with limited exposure to the great catalog of world music that is ROCK, ROCK & ROLL and BLUES! Two songs from Queen, two songs of Pink Floyd, two Black Sabbath songs, two songs with Clapton as the main attraction!! ... and how the hell Garbage made this list is beyond me! Further, why even include “BLUES” for the list ... and include only ONE Blues song?!? If BLUES is to be represented on this list ... I would have included any “anthem like” song from Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Elmore James, BB King ... or many more classic Blues artists.
@@Dazzily … Pink Floyd was certainly legendary … but there are a lot of other great musicians that paved the way for them … especially America’s Blues greats!

The greatest song ever written was "Blowing in the Wind." It may not be anyone's favorite song, over something you play at a hockey game, but there was never a better song written. It makes you think and it makes you feel, and of course sing.
@@herpaderp-bp4pe Love the Beatles and The Who, as well as many other artists. As I said, "Blowing in the Wind" is not my favorite song by any means, but I don't think there has ever been a better written song, and it works on all levels. Which ones of The Who are you think of?
Maybe eight of these songs I played more than a headache but definitely isn’t my medicinal cure for a heartbreak, perhaps I would consider as a recipe for heartburn.
Three of those would probably make it into my top 100, numbers 20, 14 and 9. There would probably be a Stones track in there as well. But number one choice would be Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac with 'Need Your Love So Bad.' Although my list would cover a wider area of genres, BB King, Gary Moore and Stevie Ray Vaughan would probably feature also. But all in all, it's just a matter of taste and opinion. It would be a sad world if we didn't have diversity.

I'm amazed by all of the negative comments about this list. It's not that I agree with the list - it's just that I'm amazed that so many people seemed to actually expect someone to come up with a definitive list of the top 25 greatest songs ever.
Fully agree with PKam33. Comes down to personal taste
There’s a fine line between personal choice and general consensus that this list unfortunately went over. I get having your own list, but this is just ridiculous. It’s just a personal list, not taking into account anything else
Everything after the late 1970's was pure garbage with the exception of The Cars. He left out "All Right Now" by Free.
It’s his title 25 greatest ever that’s bullshit. How about my favorite 25 songs right after I watched the Freddie Mercury movie list
The list had to be titled as "My 25 favorite songs" or "25 random songs of all time" As it stands it cannot be taken seriously, and probably whoever chose the songs just wanted to controversy!
I don't say that you are wrong, but my list doesn't have any of these songs. Yet, we all are "right" about our taste of music. It brings us joy.
Time has come today-Chambers Brothers, Carry On-C S N, Hey Joe- Jimi Hendrix, God only knows-Beach Boys, Beatles, Iron Butterfly, so many to choose from. Procol Haram-Conquistador, is my fav.
Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Nina Simone, Four Tops, Michael Jackson, many black divas.
And like to find out musical masterpieces of great artists I did not expect to be so interesting, like I did when reading Nile Rodgers' autobiography.
with you on this. a very skewed list and weak as a result. great songs but not the greatest.
yes, you are right. Blondie and Garbage nice songs but please......and the most of the songs are the most commercial of the bands (it's seems that this is made by someone knows only the most commercial songs) queen we will rock you? ....... and no The march of the black queen, no Ogre battle , no sheer herat attack......and so on. My personal favorite ! 🎸
@tokkievonksteen Oh gee thanks for reminding me. I left out Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar !
Call It Heavy Metal Noise 🎸
This is Probably HIS favourite songs
Yes
Hotel California and stairway to heaven To me is the two most best Creative songs ever
Number 3 through me way the fuck off.
Sameeee
Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the fuck off oh did I say wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the fuck off.
+Celtic Bird and john lennon is in 11 position ahahah .P.S:i don't know who is garbage
+Giancarlo Pacelli cool name bro

Respect by Aretha Franklin and Don’t Stop Believing by Journey deserve to be in there more than some of the others!

Exactly!

@@SotR59??? your point?
I only agree with 4 out of the 25. Hotel California,
Can't Get No Satisfaction,
Bohemian Rapsody,and Stairway to Heaven...
But he spelled Hotel Califronia, not California...

I can agree with Sounds, but the other 2 I'd call debateable for a Top 25 by ANY measure.

Michael jackson was second rate - are you kidding?
Interesting choices😊
Rename: " Top 25 greatest songs , in my opinion." There's probably not another person on this planet that would agree with you. I sure don't.
I agree with you, it is a personal choice. Maybe only 1 or 2 would make my list.
Exactly maybe 7 or 8..would make it
Depends whether or not you were tripping acid at the time.
Only 6 of these songs would make my list!!
@Griffith Williams So I'm thinking your about 20 years old Grifffithhhh

Great selection. Seeing and hearing John Lennon still breaks my heart. Gone way too soon.
Should have been "A Day in the Life" though, imo.

The correct title: "Top 25 greatest songs ever (not including the Beatles)"
663
All of these songs are amazing but I definitely think there are way more fantastic songs that should be put on the list (like a few of The Beatles songs) but I do appreciate the Queen songs very much :)
You never give me your money . Golden slumbers. The end. She came through the bathroom window. Lots more 🎉😊
Shaking All Over by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates
I'd like to see how many of these songs are around as long as Greensleeves has been - that's 450 YEARS!
I love Jeff Beck's version.
Good selection. Certainly not too many would be in my Top 25, but interesting 🤘🤘🤘
My sentiments exactly.
Should have been 25 songs from Pink Floyd
@@Dazzily … Pink Floyd was certainly legendary … but there are a lot of other great musicians that paved the way for them … especially America’s Blues greats!
I agree with you
No way man! It may be your top 25 but if put to vote, it’s got no chance!!😁
Nice compilation you stitched together ✌️
No Beatles, Animals, Kinks, Yard Byrds, ELO, Alan Parsons, Buffalo Springfield, Zombies, and The Moody Blues?????!!!! This list is your FAV 25; NOT GREATEST EVER !!!

The greatest song ever written was "Blowing in the Wind." It may not be anyone's favorite song, over something you play at a hockey game, but there was never a better song written. It makes you think and it makes you feel, and of course sing.
Id put that on my top 20 but the Beatles All you need is Love#1 and my personal favorite is traveling man

It's not even their 3rd best song. Maybe it's just there to provoke debate.
Nice selection from your records and and even thought you are missing many others. ..it's enjoyable 😉. So, I am sure there is not such a thing as "The best" any longer as people knows more and are aware of music all around our houses.
Yes, Stairway'is the best (for me ) forewer.
