My favorite music-nerd thing about "Requiem" from Dear Evan Hansen is that the sister and the father's sections are in a minor key because they're angry, helpless, confused and frustrated, but the mother's section shifts to a major key to signify how hopeful and comforted she is.

“Who I’d Be” from Shrek the Musical is still a great act 1 finale that goes hard, especially when Brian D’Arcy James, Sutton Foster and Daniel Breaker simultaneously sing reprises of their respective songs (Shrek - “Who I’d Be”, Fiona - “I Know It’s Today”, and Donkey - “Don’t Let Me Go”) till they sing all sing the final verse. 'We'd Like to Thank You Herbert Hoover', in my opinion, is both criminally underrated and underappreciated. It's such an effective number that really makes you feel bad for the vast majority of folks facing the brunt of the Great Depression, including Annie; moreover, it's not really surprising in the least that this number was cut from both the 1982 and 1999 adaptations - but at the same time, it's a miracle that the 2021 TV adaptation thankfully achieved a balance with the introduction of this number.

I realized I was thinking of I'm All Alone from Spamalot. At what point were the songs you mention cut and how do you know about them? Bootleg recordings? I was in an amateur production of The Addams Family, and I remember that our costumer heard the original Broadway recording toward the end of our rehearsals and was upset that "In the Arms" was cut in the version for later productions.

    - Doubt Comes In makes me tear up every single time. I haven't seen it (legally) so the first time I listened to the OBCR the last seconds took (literally) my breath away. Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney are too talented. BUT I think We Raise Our Cups should have been up in this list. Something’s Coming is not underrated. It’s like the second song I know from West Side Story and I’m not even a fan of it 😂.
Much love to Mark Indelicato for making me know this one.

I bet they intentionally didn't show Ansel Elgort for Something's Coming

I love Razzle Dazzle. But I wouldn’t call it underrated. If you want to look for underrated songs from Chicago, you should look into the ones that didn’t make the movie. Like My Own Best Friend, for example

I, personally, am not the biggest fan of kindergarten boyfriend and think lifeboat is so much more underrated and I love it so much. Just my opinion though

I think good for you deserves to be on here instead of Requiem, because at least Requiem got to be in the movie.

Tell me you don't actually know anything about the stage version of The Last 5 Years without telling me.
There is no "person on the receiving end" of that song. They only interact during their duet.

I'm sorry, but though I love Thank Goodness, the most underrated song in Wicked is I'm Not That Girl. Just saying.

Ms. MoJo love your videos but have to correct you on your "Run and Tell That" analysis. Seaweed is specifically singing about Black Pride- not People of Color Pride- in a white world. You're more than welcome to be PC in how you deliver certain terms when talking about songs but you must be accurate also. The writers only used colloquial phrases in the song, which were specifically about Black People- no other racial or ethnic groups. Please keep up the great work but be accurate!👍🏽
