Chris awesome job. Hopefully it works well for you for many years to come my friend. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Fix On. Weld On. Keep Forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.
I love that you're keeping these heirloom tools alive. I might have to stop passing up the blacksmith vises I always see at flea markets with broken springs and missing mounting brackets.
I love restoring vices. I take all of mine apart when I get them. Making springs is common, like you show here. I like the explanation of the green coal in the beginning. Also good to have confirmation on not needing to heat treat the springs. I do normalize it 3 times tho.
First of all I love your shirt. The stuff the do for Disabled Veteran's is awesome. Second do you know the age range of that vise I have one exactly like it that I got on ebay and restored it. now i know how it mounts and how to make the spring for it. Only thing mine is missing is the mounting plate. do you have one for sale where i live these tools are not very common?
@@MtPhillipMetalWorks I’ve seen your videos man and you’re skilled! Any leg vise I’ve seen like those are over 1,000 so still not wanting to pull the trigger.

What a beautiful restoration/rebuild. Love it when good, sturdy, old tools find new life and avoid the scrapyard! Great build, Chris!

You need leg vice to maintain a leg vice❤
Nice video!
Thank you Miguel!! Appreciate that
If the leg/pillar of your leg vise is slightly bowed/bent, would you recommend heating it up to red/orange and straightening it on the anvil?
So you doesn't harden/temper it, just normalize? I need such a spring too, for my leggy❤
