Nick, f-y-i, Pen and Pencil sets make great gifts, particularly if you include a matching letter openers. You might like trying these sets instead of limiting yourself to just pens.
Hey Nick interesting idea. You could make a whole series on grass pens. Just think of all the varieties of grass that you could use. Always love your videos. Seeing my clock still up on your shelf in the background puts a smile on my face. Be safe my friend. Thanks.
What can I say... firstly I thought .. a GLASS pen, that's different, then when you said GRASS i thought you were slightly mad. You are certainly thinking outside the box, even outside the tesseract. I love it, It looked brilliant. Keep the new ideas going Nick. You make my Friday.
Hey, Nick, for the pen, you should hold off a bit, let a small patch of your garden grow to seed, and include a grass seed pod on the side of the barrel about 90 degrees from the pocket clip. The grass is pretty cool, but with an added seed pod ot could take it to a whole nother level. Stay weird, what you come up with is amazing. Cheers from accross the pond mate. Again, consider Louisville, Kentucky, USA for the second annual MAKERS CENTRAL meet-n-greet. There are a lot of venues to hold such a great event, and the "Colonists" would have a easier time makimg it to the gathering. Maybe if it becomes a yearly thing we could bounce back and forth accross the pond each year. Or even eventually have two meets per year one on either side of the pond, moving around to different areas/cities each year to help the low income beginner and entice new makers to attend?
Dude you are a freaking genius. Your videos always give some really amazing and interesting ideas I find myself trying a lot of your stuff. Thank you so much for posting these videos.
Love it! love it. I have been making pens and have been a member of a large forum for a few years and have never seen or heard of anyone making a grass pen.
I died laughing at the dog wee joke....it was hard to explain why to my husband who is from Turkey why that made me laugh so hard....thank you i needed that!😂🤣😂🤣
I took a break from youtube so you might not see this on an old video but... You've opened up a range of possibilities here Nick well done! You could try different coloured flower petals floating in resin. I don't know what project would be suited to that but there is something there.
A very cool project Nick. You are amazing the stuff you come up with. It just goes to show that "if you build it they will come", and watch your channel. Keep up the great work and say hi to Charlie too.
That is one fantastic looking pencil Nick! It turned out great. If you take suggestions, I was wondering if resin casting popcorn would work. It would make a good snack bowl for movie nights.
Love your experiments, Nick. I've not seen a grass pen before, so you may be the first! A similar kind of pen can be made using shredded money. I've made a few, and the process is very similar. You can go on Ebay and find bags of shredded cash that has been taken out of circulation. Cool stuff! I've also made pens out of loofa sponge, pine cones, cherry seeds. Keep up the good work! Steve PS: on the lego pen blank, you can avoid a lot of the chip out issues by using an angle grinder to turn down your blank. Put it on the lathe, turn on the lathe, and use a running hand-held angle grinder at the same time to turn the blank to the point where it only needs sanding and finishing. A gentleman in Australia sold me some banksia pods, and suggested the use of the angle grinder. Works great!
Saw Charlie the Maker artist a pen and I'd by-passed yours. Because of how brilliant his was I decided I'd go back and give yours a look. Nearly there Nick. Have a word with Charlie. 😃
Love the grass pen...cil :) Also, just checked out Charlie's channel - you have quite a talented young son. It's awesome to see the two of you working together in the shop.
That's awesome Nick! You could try different flower petals, I haven't seen anyone do that either. I'm just getting I to pen/pencil turning myself. You could also try leaves and maybe confetti. Great video bud.
Just saw this Nick. I swear I had this idea 6 weeks ago while thinking of a pen to make for my neighbor the landscaper! Ive been building up to it and it's in the pressure pot now. I made the blank differently and will send a picture hopefully tomorrow. Damn it!!! Nice job though
Nik, great affect, well done, very creative, as usual! I know you value your waffling, try to make it half and half with the hands on, maybe? Cheers, Sean
A pen covered in "hundreds & thousands" (the multicoloured tiny sugar beads used to make fairy bread or sprinkle on cookies) perhaps? I had to explain what they are as I don't know if it's what they are called in England. But it's what us Kiwis know them by! 😀 Just love your work Nick! 💖
I think that doing a pack of four seasons pens might be great. Grass for spring, yellowish wheat grass could be for summer. For fall I think dried leaf blank with some red-brown colors - will metch. Winter is the hardest season... maybe pinecone?
Hey nick, love the grass pencil 👌🏻 ... I'm not sure this one has been done before but a little idea for you... Cut the tips off colour pencils and throw them into a blank and make a pen from that... think that would look pretty cool and colourful 🤔😎
Nice work Nick!! It turned out awesome =D Great idea glueing it onto the tube, you can really see the grass well that way. Keep up the great work man, I always enjoy seeing your projects!
I saved my facial shavings for two years in two pill bottles and cast them into resin and made pens for my wife, daughter and G kids. Something for them to remember me by. It came out looking like black granite.
Alright Nicolaass. Did you know that you have a wasp or bees nest hanging from the ceiling of your garage hahahahaha. Really cool idea for a " pencil " lol. Keep calm and waffle on dude. All the best, Mark.
That would be a great way for a lawn service business to market his or her company. Give away a bunch of grass filled pens with their name and logo printed on them. Never seen it before, a pen with grass in it=lawn service company; brilliant idea I think. Nice job Nick.
Hey Nick. I liked your grass pencil, I've wondered how something organic would work in acrylic while it still had color. I don't think you need to put a CA finish on acrylic though. I do both wood and acrylic and only use CA on the wood. On acrylic, I dry sand to 800 and the then 0000 steel wool, then wet sand to 1500 then wet sand 1800 then finish with auto buffing paste. I treat the wood with a CA finish then finish pretty much the same. I end up with a slick finish on both. keep up the good work. Cary in Indy
I love the idea of the pencil because the lead is basically minerals that you find raw in nature, not like the usual pen ink which is mostly made chemically 😁
Amazing pencil! Now imagine it paired with a matching pen and they are nested inside a cherry wood (or cedar) display case. I'm thinking something about the size of a cell phone box, split in the middle with a hinge or 2 on the back so it opens kinda like a clamshell...
Surprisingly nice! Now I want to see some flowers!
I really love how this turned out and honestly as an artist that loves using mechanical pencils I’m grateful you made an awesome one!

Looks good, perhaps you could try moss, or autumn colored leaves wrapped on the pen core. Just s thought.
Matryx Michaelz great idea .. 😜👍🏽👍🏽
Matryx Michaelz OMG those really pretty leaves that change color from green on the ends to a yellow to an orange or red IM JUST PICTURING IT NOW AHHHH
That sounds amazing! Nick, you gotta do this ;)
What can I say... firstly I thought .. a GLASS pen, that's different, then when you said GRASS i thought you were slightly mad. You are certainly thinking outside the box, even outside the tesseract. I love it, It looked brilliant. Keep the new ideas going Nick. You make my Friday.
Richard Ashman hahah thanks buddy . I do hope it was different 👌🏼😜👍🏽
Thinking right out in the yard I'd say!
The pen(cil) needs "Leave me a Lawn" engraved on its side!
I love this grass pen. 👍🏻👍🏻

This is the reason I love your channel
That just might be my favorite project of yours yet.
What an original idea. A "green" pen. (as in earth friendly).
Nick, you are the most genuine person I've ever seen. You are awesome. Cheers from Argentina
 Cómo se pronuncia

Love it! love it. I have been making pens and have been a member of a large forum for a few years and have never seen or heard of anyone making a grass pen.

I died laughing at the dog wee joke....it was hard to explain why to my husband who is from Turkey why that made me laugh so hard....thank you i needed that!😂🤣😂🤣
A pen and pencil set would be awesome

"Love the way its turned out"... keep the puns coming.... LOL

I'd like to see something turned, made of colored rice.
Love your experiments, Nick.

Looks absolutely brilliant. Very expensive looking as a presentation. Bryan.
Very beautiful and unique!
That is one very unique idea Nick, the pen looks brilliant .

Mike
You should make something using leaves. Like different colored leaves during the fall time. I think it would be cool.
That's awesome Nick! You could try different flower petals, I haven't seen anyone do that either. I'm just getting I to pen/pencil turning myself. You could also try leaves and maybe confetti. Great video bud.
amazing pencil Nick

Nice work Nick!! It turned out awesome =D Great idea glueing it onto the tube, you can really see the grass well that way. Keep up the great work man, I always enjoy seeing your projects!
Muchas gracias Nick. Cheers, Jim
This is fantastic ❣️. Maybe you could make 4 leaf a clover in your matching pen 👍
I saved my facial shavings for two years in two pill bottles and cast them into resin and made pens for my wife, daughter and G kids. Something for them to remember me by. It came out looking like black granite.
Yes, I like it!☺☺☺

great job Nick and really cool idea👍
It would make a great pencil for a golfer. If they made a pen kit with a golf theme that would be excellent... good job as always..... NZed 😉
Very nice 😊

Unusual but beautiful
Dog pee grass pencil, only you Nick. I really enjoy turning pens. Thanks for sharing
