We moved to Canada a couple of months back and I agree with everything you said. From having two nannies back in Nigeria to having to do everything by ourselves. Whoosh! My hubby too is trying to UNLEARN the NAIJA Chilling husband ways and making efforts to help out with chores and tending to the kids. Work from home has altogether changed the dynamics of work too. TOGETHER 24/7😩 It's m honestly not easy. This video is so on point! See finish can happen for real, being petty too. Lol. Being aware and intentional about navigating marriage abroad is critical to the success of your marriage. I am in the process of navigating this new life. I say AMEN to your prayers 🙏 We will not destroy our homes because we failed to use wisdom in Jesus name. amen.

Thank you so much for having this discussion. This isn't about cross continental thing, it is about relocating both locally or internationally. I recently got married and had to relocate from my family and friends, hmmm, no community yet in my new place... Let me just say; God is my only comforter. Staying far away from my siblings and friends is really telling on me.

The exact conversation I was having with my 2 friends yesterday. This things is real!
Before you “Japa” please do your research and make it make sense!!
People need to talk about these things, especially income. You are blessed that your husband got a job, when a couple moves and one person (more so the man) doesn’t get a job, that’s another level of pressure!!! As try as possible try and sort this prior. A man should not move “blind” as much as possible cos in this economy, jobs aren’t abundant in the abroad also lol.

Thank you for talking about this. It is definitely a topic no one talks about but it’s very important. My relocation story is very long, I can’t type is here 😂. However, you touched on most of them. I just wanted to add that prayers are very important. If you’re not a praying couple, start learning how to because it takes grace, in fact, extra grace. Much love from your Alberta sister ❤

Great topic! my only advice to younger couples relocating abroad: “DON’T have kids right away!” Wait a few years before having kids, get on family planning if needed. But make sure you understand your new environment first, build support systems, be comfortable with housing, work, medical system, and your surroundings before bringing kids in! Not having kids right away will allow you ease into the new environment better, and make it a lot less stressful!
If you are carrying a baby around, things will be more hectic, and your relationship with your partner will be more strained. Just my two cents sha. Also be intentional about spending quality time with each other.

My marriage experience has fully been abroad and so I think im just learning to roll with it. I do wish services like cleaning and laundry were more affordable in Canada. Love what you said about long distance, honestly I would never advice anyone to relocate without a concrete plan and timeline set of when they would be reunited with the rest of the family, long distance is hard especially for one person to do everything, care for kids etc alone in a country wr childcare is expensive 🙆‍♀️

I enjoyed this so much. We have seen it all in our marriage. Right now we are in the cruise season and what we learnt from our trials is that if it wasn’t for being abroad we wouldn’t have grown closer to God to help us. (Don’t know how to explain into details)

Love this! I spent majority of my life in “the abroad” and met my husband here, but can relate in that we moved to diff cities and community is everything for a married couple!! It doesn’t have to be a lot of ppl, but find a solid couple (whose head is on straight and love being married) that you both have a great relationship with, and it is a game changer! Ideally one with similar interests and same age range, so you can get together and do life with. Compared to back home, with the community and activity, it can get lonely.
How does this happen? For me, prayer! The Holy Spirit is the best connector!

Thank you for discussing this issue. This topic is near and dear because it's something I'm literally living and fighting through currently. I was pregnant during the pandemic with absolutely no help from either sides of the family as I had migrated to meet my fiancé. Untop of that, the pressures from everyday duties added up and eventually exploded. Unless you've lived through it you won't understand how real this issue is. Subscribed!

I relocated to join my husband. 3 months later i got pregnant. He was in school. I had to start working when baby was 3 months old to support us. She's 10 now. We've struggled. Communication isnt our strong suit. We let things slide n keep.it moving. Less than 2 years boom ready or not baby #2 on the way ( if i could get rid of it, i would, almost lost the baby because i didn't see how i coukd care for 2 babies while he's still in school and am working. No family support. My mom couldn't come till just last yr. The struggle is real. Every December im afraid we will go our separate ways. But God! He always steps in and we make it through another yr and another year. He's working , earns well, thank God, i have gone back to finish my own school. Mom has been able to come help so i can do that but we have new struggles. Mom wanting to raise the kids the African way n with all these laws, thats not acceptable and her frustration is apparent. Im always stepping in and i have to deal with school too. Its a different dynamic but still new struggles. Timely topic. By Gods grace we ate growing gradually. Lord is our helper. This is sooo on point.

Nice 1 Sis! Great spot light topic! 👌 By the way all SO TRUE!
Some people see others who have the understanding to make it work with deliberate efforts and think it's all perfect on their end and feel alone in the pressures they go through...
My advice find real people you talk to... Sharing is caring...
Until I started talk with people going through some marital / relationship stuffs I used to feel I was paranoid or alone on this...
I discovered some people have it worse than me, then I appreciated my situation and deliberately started working through it and it's been good and God all the way (over 10 years now).
Point of advice, never leave in self denial and find a good church community, it helps both the marriage and the kids here!
We try to make the most of our free times here as a family. Two way communication is super Important. Not only you feels hurt, your spouse might be hurting more too... talk and find out.
Almost 2 years in Canada now with my family and it can only get better.
We leave our size per time. No follow follow and God has been faithful.
By the way Tolu, a little advice from my end on the pimples/acne, I had it as well shortly after relocating to Canada. My super smooth face suddenly became very bumpy and was a concern to my husband and family... I decided to watch what it could be... Apparently, I love chocolates with stuffs in it and not plain... Precisely Sneakers and M&M peanuts... I used to eat them as well back in Nigeria + groundnuts and had no issues no matter the quantity...
But I discovered the peanuts here where the reason for the pimples/acne.. as soon as I stopped eating sneakers and m&m despite my cravings, it all cleared out! (Funny, my Nigerian groundnut here doesn't make me react).
Once in a while I'm tempted to do longer-throat and boom! 1 or 2 pops up and I stay away again!
    My 2 cents!🙏🏽

They say seeing is believing, I will say experience is the best teacher. People don't understand when you tell them all these things and I'm glad you have experienced it and you're putting it out there. Living abroad is not easy at all especially when you think of all the comforts back home, househelp, driver, social life, family etc. As a couple it is even ok I always advise single girls most espeically to think twice because to find a partner here is worse, no social activity, now we are in winter it gets dark quickly, it's too cold, people work round the clock and you can go on and on before you know it a whole year has gone. Having a community is not the solution because you have to be careful who you associate yourself with forget about them being Christians we are all human beings, in this same community you find those who gossip, those who are envious, competitive, mean, people also need their space, some work shifts etc. Lets be real it is a lonely place and you just have to live with it.

It is overwhelming. I got married in May we only dated for 10months and then got married in May and moved to Canada in August. We are in different cities because we already had relocation plans before we met so we are almost like separate individuals here. I’m schooling plus the financial responsibilities of fees paying rents in two different places. It’s crazy and honestly I get moved to tears most times because it’s overwhelming

Ahh ça!! I really loved this because I am actually faced with this. We relocated to Canada two months ago and my husband had to go to back home for some work n I have been here with our two kids alone! It has been soo overwhelming! With NO community in Mississauga 🥹From home with soo much help and family to here alone! N I like how you put it sometimes you start feeling resentful ohh I am here with the kids and you are having fun 😂 meanwhile he is trying to fend for us because relocation in itself and expenditure! Thank you soo much for this I think it was extremely timely for me! And I am grateful😫 At least amidst the loneliness I can listen to you talk.☺️ God bless you. For some reason I am smiling to bed☺️

Hey dear I love your channel really much. I have a little recommendation for you about your acne. I used to have acne even more than you. I have used somany things to resolve it but it wasn't working. So few months ago I decided to stop using any acne treatments again. So I will watch my face with baby bodywash and lotion it with baby lotion. An now my face is really looking good now. You can try it. It is just a recommendation.

Thank you for your recommendation. There’s no assurance that it will work for me simply because it worked for you.
I know my options and would explore them with my dermatologist once I’m done breastfeeding.
      Appreciate your concern 💜

I have been here donkey years my advice is to ensure you engage yourselves some spouses if left on their own especially men can get into cyber things I will rather not mention here. Before you say they are not born again think twice. Prayer, bible reading family timè and date nights spend your free time together go out together and with friends God fearing ones. Cook and clean together, sing together laugh together cry togethet if possible. You need spontaneous weekend off together to spice things as stress is the fun killer.

You nailed it honestly. All the points are so true. I wish I was rich enough to get a live in nanny. We would gladly take it because my husband is tired of fixing plates into the dishwasher already 😩😩
