When I press the Play button (or FFW or REW), you hear the sound of electromagnet that starts and stops the drum starts to spin, but at a slow speed (not like your), then stops. and goes into stop mode. the three plastic straps inside are ok. Can you please help me

Had loads of these but never a playback adapter! Imagine doing this in the field with cold hands?? It wasn't easy...

I suppose the two reels need to turn at different speeds, guided by the capstan. But how, when they are connected to one another? Thx
The hubs that the reels mount on probably have clutch mechanisms that let one or the other freewheel when the machine is running.
The reels are driven by separate motors on a concentric hub with one shaft inside the other.
