I’m actually one of those people who legitimately likes Ice Climber. I think the controls were designed to be that way to make it more challenging and you have to really plan out every move you make. Not to mention the music is phenomenal, and the game all around just has a particular vibe to it that I love.
The neat thing about NES Golf is unlike latter golf games; the slope arrows I believe all go the same direction once you are on the green. I had experience the Mandela effect with this game as I thought there was multiple directions for the slopes on the greens.
Where’s MC KIDS (Mcdonaldland in Europe) that’s the only game I have for the NES in fact I bought an NES JUST so I can play that game. I was able to download and play the Amiga version on Windows 10/PC and it has save states. Nostalgia is Helluva Drug! 😊
Hey! I wanted to thank you for sharing the Midwest Gaming Classic event. We drove over from Toronto, Canada and it was a great time. downtown Milwaukee was very cool too!
This was an extremely ambitious video and you did a great job. I couldn't help but notice that you missed Taxan's G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero from early 1991. You did mention it when you discussed Capcom's G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor though.
Sky Kid is still one of my favorite NES games. I remember playing it at this pizza place by my house as a kid. I probably could've bought an NES console with the amount of quarters I spent on that game over the years lol.
3 hours and 9 minutes of Riggs talking about Ned games?! Sign me up! I love these videos especially in really long form. Addendum- Clu Clu Land coins? Man, they look like gold rupees to me. I bet I know who made Clu Clu Land...;)
Heh, I had a paper route when I was 9 or 10. Was over 100 papers, good thing I had a bike (sometimes I got driven). Then they ended up just putting that paper inside of the main one...... WOW big ups to you, I love every second of this!
Solomon's Key was amazing. Loved that game. Sadly, my mother beat it way before any of us did. My mom didn't want anyone to know she was a gamer, but... she was. 🙂
Weird. I fell asleep with this on and dreamt me on John were hitch-hiking to go see a show (the concert I'm going to tonight) and worried that we wouldn't make the beer store before it closed. He talked about NES games the whole time. So I basically had a John Riggs road trip buddy comedy in my head.
I remember thinking how cool the Trojan cover art was a kid. I never played it. I bought a NES game as an adult and the cases must have been switched. The game turned out to be Trojan. I had fun and finished the game!
I think 1990 was the best overall year for NES games. I'm glad they made Mega Man 4, 5, and 6! Oh the name of the cat from Tiny Toons was Furrball (yes, with two R's).
Agree, Tennis was a fun game! better than most sports titles for NES. IDK why but they got that one right for some 2 player fun. Tennis and RBI baseball were games i played with friends into middle school like 2001, we had a blast every time. RBI especially, it has more variety and skill based factors than you would think, and of course hilarious bugs that would have us laughing our asses off when a bug would screw someone over
0:55 Sure, it means nothing in English, but the term "kuru-kuru" in Japanese means to go around and around, hence why the gameplay is the way it is. And most likely to make it easier to say (or maybe even for more appeal), Nintendo changed it to "clu-clu".
Hey truthfully he answered his own issues in the video that I see a lot of "collectors" dropping out have. The price is too high or they don't enjoy most of the games. Problem is not enjoying the games but trying to buy all the games you can is where the burnout starts. It takes the enjoyment of something and makes it a chore. I heard a lot of Sega and nes but I didn't hear like master system old school PC may be something he might enjoy as well. If 90%of everything on any given system is not for someone no matter the generation then you know it's high time to get out of the market or hobby as that means you only enjoy 10% of something you really dont like it. Oh well good luck finding that love you once had for the retro stuff
Renegade/Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun on NES was a game I immediately wanted to defend since I think the arcade version is extremely underrated and its reputation as a terrible game is insane... but the NES port isn't great since it usually just encourages spamming one single move that's preferable in the overwhelming majority of contexts. Watch high-level play of the arcade game, then the NES game, and you'll see how spammy and unbalanced the latter is and how even speedrunning requires varying your moves a lot more in the arcade version. Sucks since I do like the little bits of variety they added in the NES version like the motorcycle sections.
Your old. These games are oirs now. For us. Your too old to enjoy them now and we make them expensive because we collect your nostalgia. So give up already. Its our time. Ill spend 200 on 1 nes game just to keep you from buying it. Our time not yours
I agree Metroid is amazing, but having no map is the reason I never beat Metroid 1, bet when you beat it you used a Nintendo power with the map it had, I didn't have that option.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes..... Dude, the made TOXIC-AVENGER cartoon!!!! That film has some of the funniest graphic stuff in it! TOTALLY not a kids film!
How funny would it be if Nintendo made a Breath of the Wild style game, but it’s with the friggin Ice Climbers- 40yo characters no one cares about in a brilliant, AAA game
10 yard fight genuinely looks like the worst game of all time. How is that even football. Plus the player is basically walking it would take over a full minute to move half the field lol
Jackal Mega Man 3 Duck Tales Rescue Rangers Little Nemo and the Dream Master Ninja Gaiden Ninja Gaiden II Double Dragon Double Dragon II Punchout! Mega Man 2 Astanax Dragon Warrior Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: the Arcade Contra Super C Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 Rad Racer Tetris Tecmo Bowl Life Force Wrath of the Ninja
I remember playing NES HOCKEY and talking about the idea for GTA3 WAAAYYYYYYY BACK THEN!!!! Saying to my cuzzo and my bro the idea and my Cuzzo was OH YEAH MAN!!! THINK IF YOU COULD DO THAT ALSO! N like 20 plus years later it would be out! LMADO! I had my copy of GTA&LONDON 1969 for PS1! They were rad! Eventually got GTA2 for dreamcast! Still NOTHING COMPARED to when GTA3 hit!!
This is a marathon of all of the NES through the Years videos, all at once. Perfect for background noise or video game stores ;)
Did you have Army Ants?
Thanks!!! These are my years of NES and I love it.
I dont think I need to say my favorite NES game. I talked about it all of the time.
This is a smart format. Props John.
As back in the 90s by pro jared bites the dust you pick up the slack. Way to hold the line. The world needs more people like you John.
I love it when Mr. Riggs puts these collections together in one big marathon. It means I can let it play while I go to sleep😁
I’m actually one of those people who legitimately likes Ice Climber. I think the controls were designed to be that way to make it more challenging and you have to really plan out every move you make. Not to mention the music is phenomenal, and the game all around just has a particular vibe to it that I love.
I also love Ice Climber
The neat thing about NES Golf is unlike latter golf games; the slope arrows I believe all go the same direction once you are on the green. I had experience the Mandela effect with this game as I thought there was multiple directions for the slopes on the greens.
jaws is a good game. i don't think i have it anymore, but i did in the '80s
Hell yeah Riggs. More of these compilation vids. Love having the long vids play in the background while I work!
Same here. This kind of videos are total ASMR for me :)
Fun fact: so I have the bootleg multi cart “31 in 1”. And it has Ice Climber WITH the baby seals. I didn’t know that that was only an Eastern thing
Good Morning! I learn about so many games that i would have never seen otherwise!
Where’s MC KIDS (Mcdonaldland in Europe) that’s the only game I have for the NES in fact I bought an NES JUST so I can play that game. I was able to download and play the Amiga version on Windows 10/PC and it has save states. Nostalgia is Helluva Drug! 😊
i always start mega man 2 with flash man, then metal man
No one asked 😊
@@Rountree1985 are you ok?
THREE HOUR?!?! YOU MAKE THREE HOUR LONG VIDEO?!!?!? Oh Mr Riggs!
Getting up near Mike Matei territory......
I think it may be a Mashup of all the different videos for each year.
Love these videos so much. Thanks for sharing!
Hey! I wanted to thank you for sharing the Midwest Gaming Classic event. We drove over from Toronto, Canada and it was a great time. downtown Milwaukee was very cool too!
I'm watching it because of pure nostalgia and it's raining here over 1ft of rain in three days...🤣
This was an extremely ambitious video and you did a great job. I couldn't help but notice that you missed Taxan's G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero from early 1991. You did mention it when you discussed Capcom's G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor though.
10 yard fight from I-Reem lol
Sky Kid is still one of my favorite NES games. I remember playing it at this pizza place by my house as a kid. I probably could've bought an NES console with the amount of quarters I spent on that game over the years lol.

Bump n jump is one of my sleeper favorite games. Great control, great pace, amazing music, and fun courses. It's a winner
Great Videos! Love the nostalgia! Would be awesome if we could have some more audio from the games, just to get the full effect.
Hey this is awesome! Thanks John!
I absolutely loved the T&C game as a child. I also was obsessed with the T-shirts too. Haha
Heh, I had a paper route when I was 9 or 10. Was over 100 papers, good thing I had a bike (sometimes I got driven). Then they ended up just putting that paper inside of the main one...... WOW big ups to you, I love every second of this!

3 hours of NES yessssss
excellent video man. Brought back so many memories....booting up that emulator
I loved Urban Champion! I couldn't find it for sale anywhere but I could rent it. Every snow storm or holiday as much as I could I was renting it.
Great job, this personal review index was a great accomplishment for all of us to enjoy.
This entire video confirms I was so blessed to be a kid in the mid 80s/early 90s 🔥🔥
John Riggs Marathon
in 1989 Punch Out was impressive... i was intimidated by the big characters as big as me on the huge TV on the ground/mat
Weird. I fell asleep with this on and dreamt me on John were hitch-hiking to go see a show (the concert I'm going to tonight) and worried that we wouldn't make the beer store before it closed. He talked about NES games the whole time. So I basically had a John Riggs road trip buddy comedy in my head.
I am a big suikoden fan . My best console is Nintendo Switch
Love this video totally revisited my childhood watching this thanks John!
Love your videos and saw you in the Louisville Arcade Expo, keep up the great work!
I remember thinking how cool the Trojan cover art was a kid. I never played it. I bought a NES game as an adult and the cases must have been switched. The game turned out to be Trojan. I had fun and finished the game!
I’m hinking now of the old Konami ads that were in many many comic books back then.
This video takes me back to my childhood. I miss it so much 😊😊😊
I think 1990 was the best overall year for NES games. I'm glad they made Mega Man 4, 5, and 6! Oh the name of the cat from Tiny Toons was Furrball (yes, with two R's).

“Two player alternating games, shouldn’t even be a thing…”
SMB3: Hold my beer! 😂
Ireem? You mean Irem :P
I have been FOR YEARS trying to figure out the name of the game Jackal. Thank you so much dude. Such a good game.
Oh man tu for the memories
So happy I found these videos...awesome watch
0:55 Sure, it means nothing in English, but the term "kuru-kuru" in Japanese means to go around and around, hence why the gameplay is the way it is. And most likely to make it easier to say (or maybe even for more appeal), Nintendo changed it to "clu-clu".
made it 51 minutes in loving it. great to see these in order
Deadly towers was one of those games I passed with save states. Even with save states holy crap that game is frustrating.
In Canada we had system rentals pretty quick.
I played all of them except Neo Geo ( other than in arcades ).
EXCELLENT VIDEO, GREAT INFO 👍

Way too much time showing Golf 😂
*makes pop corn*
John Riggs you are appreciated
Calling a three
Good job on making this one John. Wow, it’s a lot of work… albeit fun work of course.😊
Absolutely loved working my way thru this video, lots of nostalgia, think the games i played most as a kid were Trog anf Tiger Heli.
We have the same taste in games... I also liked spy vs and had a mad subscription..
Hi big wonder boy fan and cliff is friend . I am from the uk i am Duncan
t&c surf was a good game, i liked the skateboarding better. the music goes hard, especially the solo
NES had a solid 9 year run. Then again, some people out there are still making games for it 👍
you are my go to for nes content your channel is awesome🔥
Your old. These games are oirs now. For us. Your too old to enjoy them now and we make them expensive because we collect your nostalgia. So give up already. Its our time. Ill spend 200 on 1 nes game just to keep you from buying it. Our time not yours
Awesome compendium!😊👍
I agree Metroid is amazing, but having no map is the reason I never beat Metroid 1, bet when you beat it you used a Nintendo power with the map it had, I didn't have that option.
1942 is one of my favorite shooters.
The arcade game is still the best way to play
🙂
Cool stuff, Mr. Riggs!
3+ hours of Riggs game review. My daily zen
The laser weapon on Contra is my favorite I've played through the game with it many of times
My step brother and I both got a copy of Dragon Warrior from Nintendo Power. Today I own both copies. 😂
Awesome
19:00 I loved this game as a kid.
34:07 Sky Kid looks like a NES port of the old PC game Sopwith Camel.
I cant picture John finishing a game lol, he has fun for a few mins and then goes ohh let's play this game, ohh let's play that game lol
Great list, great games !
This brought back alot of my memories .Master blaster was the best.
No John, you are not the only one. I like Super C over Contra as well.
Three hours with nes games? I better go get some snacks!😊
Tecmo bowl ruled! And I also was not a football fan..
I caught the rocky horror reference there!

"Soccer. There ya go, it's Soccer. Soccer."
Ya think? Lol
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.....
Dude, the made TOXIC-AVENGER cartoon!!!!
That film has some of the funniest graphic stuff in it!
TOTALLY not a kids film!
"Where did their hair go?"- Ikari Warriors theme song
Are you going to do any more ranking videos or open cart surgery videos?
Would love to get either a 74 strat or les paul Standard in honeyburst or red.
How funny would it be if Nintendo made a Breath of the Wild style game, but it’s with the friggin Ice Climbers- 40yo characters no one cares about in a brilliant, AAA game
Rygar should be in the underrated listed. It’s a great game.
10 yard fight genuinely looks like the worst game of all time. How is that even football. Plus the player is basically walking it would take over a full minute to move half the field lol
Goonies 2 looks to play much more like Friday the 13 than metroid..
I do love me some John Riggs
You can't sit there and say you love ghosts N goblins when you trashed it on your Capcom video.

Are you gonna do a continuation of this but with homedrew games? Like the ones that actually came out physically or had an impact on NES fans.
