- With the launch of Chapter 3, in this episode we finally check out Purges, and try and get ourselves one of the Barkeepers that is required for the new Tavern system. I build a separate Purge base, defend it with our Berserkers and take on a few Purges looking for the Mercenary Captain and a Barkeep.

Angaar, when barkeep went back in cage I couln't help but note your reaction. You did not RANT and COMPLAIN or RAGE ON like so many other content creators do. That is patients and professionalism. Just wanted to add. Golems have 0 self preservation instincts. They will run strainght in and fight till they die.

I've heard people say that the new update made combat worse. Haha. That seems to be an ongoing issue. I might give the developers a little time to fix the new update before I play around with the new features.
Awesome! I want to play the new content so bad but I cannot! I get an error saying im banned because invalid transaction, and to unban I need to buy coins haha! Will have to just enjoy watching you play for now 😊
Sadly after playing on single player for several hours yesterday to make this video I went and popped on my community server only to get banned too! Have you put a ticket in with the Help button?
The devs are aware of the issue and working to solve the issue but yeah put in a ticket with the help button
The new update was a mixed bag, the demolishers now one hit doors or gates and as you said they can destroy your bases structure. Did this in the morning level three purge worked well and got the barkeeper and a T4 dancer and archer. My tavern is massive and seats 50 on the lower level alone, will work on the upper part later on. Takes a little while but people show up and had around 7 to 8 patrons in my tavern. Getting a cook and bouncers for my tavern as well today. Have fun with this every one, one of the few things working in this update. I got a female barkeeper and me and my mods are so happy, she is hot (now) AF. Lol
I was surprised you didn't grab the shade bloom as hard as it is to find. Great video though, love watching you slow down the battering ram folk.
Seems pretty straightforward. Purge level scales up to match your ability / defences as you progress. I like it.
I'll do the purge eventually. Right now I just want to focus on enjoying the survival aspect and dungeon crawling.

Just dawned on me: you could probably repeat a couple of lesser purges and save the keys maybe?
Doing those level 3-4 purges gives 5 keys, and you usually get 3/4 cages and the chest. So you will start building a stash of spare keys

While I have yet to play with the Purge system, as it now exists, I'd wager that your main base could be barricaded up to better resist a Purge.
Line a layer or two layers of your walls in high-level stone and spikes?
Add an open topped, flaming oil pot lined gallery and several high tier door frames and doors to your main entryway?
Maybe some wooden stakes to help channel the Purgers in the right direction?
And a lot of Cimmerian beserkers and archers?
And you could, in theory, create a big, Purge kill box right at your main bases doorstep.
But unless ones running in creative mode?
Getting the necessary mats to build it nice would take time.
And there's a high chance if you do that, that the game will decide a purge can't get to your coffer and not spawn at all. Or they'll send in a few dudes and suddenly decide they can't get to your treasure and retreat. It seems the more purge resistant you build your base, the less the game even tries to send one. Which is rather annoying and counterintuitive.
So i wasnt gonna say anything cause you hadnt shown much interest in the purge since the change but youve been leaveing so much treasure behind lol. Serpent man statues kinscourge statues fossilizednserpent man eghs and decorative skulls ( from the artisan table) all count as treasure. Theres also a brazier that looks like the ancient brazier that also counts as treasure.
Its been driving me crazy watching you leave that stuff behind on the streams and what not lol.

@@AngaarUK as always my friend you're good. Just didn't want you missing out on treasure for when you're ready to go big with your purge.
The bug is not only aimed at doors they will also one hit any structure they hit as well, so once they've accessed the treasure room through all doors they will then start hitting structure pieces.
Big problem with the purge is someone can troll and summon a base on top of someone elses base. Had some guy plop it right on my house.

I am building my small purge base on an island and building one walk way, so that the attackers are going to have to come in one way only along with building a heat trap room using multiple fire places running plus gas traps.
The purge is a bit flacky with it being a reachable location at the moment. I had to build bases in 3 locations until this one worked. The other locations had loads of empty flat space around too, and the first location is where I ran about 100 purges on test live server 😞
I don't think heat affects the npcs
30:50 doesn't the thrall need a bow in their inventory to be placed in the archer post

Battering rams are useless in my opinion, but i suppose using those would be cheaper than using the explosive jars like i ended up doing, 5 or 6 jars per gate and 2 per door.. i was through the raid in no less than 5-10 minutes.
If you are set as admin you can teleport using the map and left control
need to setup your friends for stand and defend and guard at a distants
They were set to Low, but can't remember if I set the golems

Almost instantly I can see a potential use for the sorcery ring of fire put directly into the line of attackers, but would it harm your own thralls fighting? Or could you put it far enough away?
Think the mobs would just run round it 😟
if by chance you die and the demolishers have free range any chest in you treasure room is in danger of getting demolished and you will loose wha's in your chest
Just an FYI the demoloishers will one shot a tier3 door
Yep, devs added it as a known issue on launch! There is one demolisher gets to my door and one-shots the T3 door. Need to be really careful!

I am curious about what behavior and tactics orders you issued to your berserkers. Dalinsia seemed to be on Guard Me but I wonder if the 'zerkers were guarding an area, or just attacking all enemies, or what.
I set them to attack all enemies, on low attack distance
Put them on low chase distance as well so they won't chase the enemies into the camp.
I'd also put up some archers on Stand and Defend so they won't move around. High attack distance but lowest chase distance.
I have to be honest, the tavern seems kind of pointless right now. And it lags the game a bit on my xbox series X. Hopefully they're going to do more with it and what's there is only a barebones framework... but I was rather underwhelmed by the people who showed up, most of whom you can't recruit even if they were any good... which they aren't. You need better thralls to be able to get the tavern to have the chance to hire worse thralls... makes sense! My army of Berserkers are thrilled at having a Fighter 1 join the ranks!
100% agree. If you have the thralls to complete he purge you probably don't need the ones that appear in the tavern, although there are T4 that can turn up.
But I do believe it is the start of a new process/system
@@AngaarUK After a few days, the only T4 thrall I've had show up is a Black Hand Captain, and he was unrecruitable. He just sat there drinking my beer. So it's kind of double RNG. Are they going to show up? And if they do, can you recruit them? I don't understand why you can't just recruit anyone who shows up instead of maybe 20% of people. Makes it even less likely you'll get anyone half decent.
Actually that's a point. Why aren't we making any money from the tavern? Lol. Maybe they should implement it where you have to brew up all the beers and wine to stock it with and then you make profits from how many people turn up. Would give more point to the whole brewing system already in the game.

The apes in the jungle city Xel-ha and the skeletons of the unnamed city are the best sites. I've heard the rocknose at the Shattered Springs are OK.

When thieves drop sacks of your treasure they stole, how do you recover it? I carry it back to the coffer, but after a while it just disappears & i keep losing treasure 😬
Never done one of the higher level Purges. Recommend trying OwDo Gaming as he's my goto Purge expert
@@AngaarUK Hey thanks for the quick reply! Yeah i'm currently doing level 4 purges & it sometimes sends thiefs which followers don't see (unless i attack them) as they pick the locks & start carrying my treasure away... when i kill them, they drop big sacks of treasure, which i can pick up & carry back to the coffer, but then they just vanish after a short while. Thanks for this great video series! 👍🏼
Since you see one of your fighters is getting hurt easy why not place him guarding a door?
Think he was just ganged up on, a few minutes rest to heal up and then get back in the fight 🤣

My sunday stats: 18 purges, >7 hours, 2x no warhand, 2x fatal error, 1x no cages at all, 3x demolishers sneaked in, oneshotted the ground behind the door declaring "no access", 3x killed due to the immovable character animation problem, 3x two cages with lesser thralls only, 3x decent thralls but no barkeeper, and at last 1 barkeeper at my 18th attempt. It's a female, bit of an eye candy, but her voice is unbearable.
