Condition does not matter when you grade this coin concider quality,they will decide, whether it needs referbishment they can touch your coins up ready for grading

I do believe that there is a small and large date for the 1974's from the Denver Mint also although I am not 100% sure. Have you heard of this being the same case with the Denver minted 1974's? I had no idea about this coin having varieties but when I look at the close up you provided of the two, it seems, at least to me that the top curl of the 9 seems to be similar to the 9 on the 1970-S Large and Small dates. The top curl of the 9 on the 1974 small date you pictured seems to point directly east while the top curl of the 9 on the large date seems to point southeast. Did anyone ever adress placement of mintmarks? I have examples of early 1970's denver pennies with the d in different places under the date i know they are common but 1973 as an example out of box i searched i had 5 different d placements one even tilted. Any input on this?

They got 2 different heads there's the real sharp looking high relief and then there's the head of the 1975 -1982 I got business strikes from all 3 mints and the high relief in the 74-s proof I know they made head of 75 proof 74-s I seen them but still haven't been able to get one either by they wouldn't sell it or no money at the time but I'm still looking for one
did you notice that the one and four are different levels at the bottom of the large and small date. i took a piece of paper and i notice that the small date four is shorter at the bottom than the large date four.
1974 small date is just doubled. Look at the 9 and the 7. The 7 has the doubled serifs and the 9 is clearly visible as being doubled also. The 1 on the small date at the bottom on far right is very slightly doubled also . Looks like the small date is due to possible die shift on?

Also I believe the 4's in the large date variety seem to be further from the edge of the coin.... at least with the ones I have anyway.
I just found a 1974 penny with a funny #4 the bottom right corner has a diagonal line where both ends should be.
