Thanks for watching mate 👍 we won’t lie it got scary at times and we had wondered if we had done the right thing. But glad we did it and now we know how well those tents performed 👍 Happy new year, Simon & Mark
It was a bit windy Spencer the poles were bending but they didn’t break which was a relief 😅 a very good test for the tents though which will give us confidence in future windy camps, thanks for watching ATB Mark & Simon.
Well done guys, enjoyed that. Good test for the tents. It’s always nice once you’re pitched and inside. Cracking shot looking back down at the tents pitched. All the best guys for 2024 👍
I think this is my favourite video from you 2. I didn't stop smiling,as soon as that wind came and you rode it out till the end...absolutely amazing. Those tents seem like a good investment....do I 🤔😅🤣 amazing guys 👍
The Boys are back with a bang woop woop Great vid guys I still reckon some of that wind in the tent was down to the beans lol😂 Roll on the next meet up lads take it easy All the best 👍
Nice one lads! I find it impossible to sleep on those nights where you're just waiting to hear something tear or snap. Glad the tents held out and you didn't have to abandon camp in the night! Looking forward to more vids from you next year ✌️ James.
Have been looking at the access as my 3 season tent, looks pretty good. I'm using an double poled Hilleberg black for my deep winter camps and been using an Akto for lighter 3 season stuff but want a bit more headroom and the MSR has been taking my fancy.
It's pretty wild up here tonight, with 100kph gusts on Pen y Fan. Can't see anybody else on the four main peaks, although did see a head torch on top of Pen last night.
Thanks for watching Bernard 👍 hope you have a good night on Cribyn with hopefully less wind than us. Yep those tents pegs are awesome 👍take care Simon & Mark
I have to say, given the winds, that msr didnt have so much flapping going on inside as ive seen other tents. Looked pretty brutal though. I sometimes think that tents should have more guy outs, maybe two per pole, for these kind of conditions. I like MSR and i think as long as you pitch them correctly theyre ok. You two do make me howl with laughter though, even when youre not meaning too, especially the food ratings. Merry xmas to the both of you and here's to less rain for you in 2024 🙂 Look after yesels.
Hi Martin thanks for watching mate that was a crazy long night. We did talk about packing up but glad we stuck it out 😀 we got a lot of camping videos lined up in the new year and can’t wait to get back out 👍 ATB mate
I used a Vango Helium UL1 and in 25mph gusts it held up incredibly well, the external and internal guys made it so the pole was rock solid, the large expanses of material did end up bopping me on the head a couple times but I was fine.
I find Cribyn to be pretty casual and not steep from any side. I prefer not to follow any of the known routes or paths, and simply climb straight up the vey steepest sides from the streams at the valley floor, directly up to the peaks. The same with Pen y Fan and Fan y Big. The direct vertical climb up the off-piste side of Fan y Big and a vertical decent gets the lungs going and calves pumping.
@@neovo903 I jog down Cribyn on the northern side. That first bit of the steep descent can get slippery with mud during rainstorms, so I prefer to keep mainly to the tufted grass sections at the edge.
I often sleep on Cribyn in the winter ❄️ without a tent or bivvy and no tarp in any weather. I just chuck my sleeping bag on the mat. I prefer the wildest storms possible, which deters most people and keeps it deserted and quiet.
@@Twin_Peaks_Outdoors No problem mate. Just stumbled on your video in my feed. I'm a pensioner but seasoned veteran of the world's 🌍 mountains🏔️, so no stress. Also I'm using gear above and beyond what UK can throw at me. Exped downmat HL Winter LW and Mountain Hardwear Ghost goose down -40C expedition waterproof/breathable sleeping bag. I prefer sleeping naked, or wearing thin base layer at most, so prefer to carry my Mountain Hardwear or Rab sleeping bag. Better to be too warm 🥵 and unzip to ventilate, than to freeze 🥶 in a lightweight thin bag with no tent. One big plus with just a sleeping bag is that you don't need to worry about tent poles collapsing 😂
Weather presenters are over paid and over rated often getting the weather conditions wrong in Wales. Worst case scenario is the tents getting damaged luckily all is well. That was some hike and if things had gone bad a treacherous return journey. Just imagine if it had been pissing down with rain as well. That was a great location for a pitch. The days are getting longer now so much better for camping. I'm going to check out another pitch in Brecon with two weeks and I'll be in touch atb Taff 🤠👊👊
Thanks for watching Taff, they got the weather wrong 💯 percent otherwise we probably wouldn’t have camped up high but in a way we are glad we did as we gave both tents a test and we now know what they are capable of 👍 let us know when you are available for a camp and we will be on it Cheers Mark & Simon 👍👌
Definitely blowing a good un up there ,bravo for sitting it out and not bailing back to the car, great test for the tents, 👍
Thanks for watching Neil, we are really glad we stuck it out now we know what the tents are capable of. Take care mate 👍
Great vid guys bit windy that 😊😊
Thanks for watching Dave 👍 yep that weather was nasty and scary at times, but glad we gave the tents a real testing 👍 happy new year mate
@@Twin_Peaks_Outdoors happy new year guys

Cheers mate, it was a long night but worth it 😁👍👌
What a mental night! You guys did well to survive. Great experience though. Makes you feel alive. ATB. 👍

A wee bit windy then? 🌪️🌪️ I always worry about the tent when it’s that windy. Glad you made it out in one piece. 👍

Thanks for watching the video 👍 they do have a good head height and we were impressed how well they performed in strong winds 👍 ATB Simon & Mark
I’ve literally got my map out for cribyn, boxing night, to go early January, loving the new tent pegs, beasts.🍺🥩👍

Cribyn is steep, I was camping up on Pen Y Fan in May and Cribyn was by far the steepest and hardest to climb.
Also, I'm pretty sure I lost a chunk of rubber from my boot from a stone going up Cribyn

@@Globetrotter-1 Well, I was doing the Horseshoe and I had at that point just come down from Fan y Big :P
