Sorry for the late or lack of replies this week as it’s been busy weekend but, please know I read every one and appreciate you taking the time to comment. Best wishes Darren
Very glad that you achieved the images of the squirrel but particularly the woodpecker. Also a real "feather in your cap" regarding the exhibition and subsequent purchase by the college. Well done Darren. Kind regards - Robin
For squirrels get some shelled peanuts they love them. Great seeing the green woodpecker, you will proberly find that they are looking for bugs and ants. I have seen this happen before in a field near me. I must of walked over the ants nest and five minutes later there has been a woodpecker on it. Glad you got your shot that day.
I may have said before that I think I lack the patience to do wildlife photography but after watching your and another's wildlife shots I am being tempted to give it a go. I particularly like the squirrel shots. Good to see you out and about and on the mend.
Nice to see you back Darren, lovely shots, Green Woodpecker is also on our list as we haven’t got a good shot up to now. Stay safe and I hope you get back up to the Lakes soon.
Morning Ian, The last quarter of 2021 wasn’t very kind to me and so I had to cancel multiple trips to the lakes, but hopefully they will all start again in late Feb early March Take care bud and best wishes for the new year 🍺
How awesome that the college has picked up your images of it. Looks a lovely place to work. Nice shots of the woodpecker, I'm amazed it stayed so still and in place for so long.
Nice photos Darren. Makes me realize that you Never have enough reach as a birder. This makes the Canon option with their F11 600/800 lenses great for easy carry around and Reach ! 😊 And budget minded I might add.
Highly unusual to see a woodpecker on the floor. Crackin' shots. Where I am we're just south of the red/grey squirrel line. Closest colony of reds is about a mile away and working its way south; which means these greys, as cute as they are, their days are numbered. Squirrel pie anyone ?
Morning Iain, The college watched the video yesterday and have encouraged me to do more which is great for me. My own little private nature reserve Take care bud and watch out for those squirrels 😉
@@DarrenKnightPhoto I've got a few amusing squirrel stories, which I'll tell you if we ever meet. (I sound like Beatrix Potter). Squirrel fact: It is illegal to release any captive grey squirrel back into the wild anywhere in the UK, they have to be euthanatised. (Come on the Reds !)
Congratulations on getting the Green Woodpecker shots. They are on my list but have never got any closer than seeing green blobs flying from one tree to another in the distance!
That was a surprise. I've never photographed a Green Woodpecker or even seen one close up. I've often heard their cackling call when I'm out walking in the countryside though. It's like they're laughing at me!
A nice Saturday surprise to see you post Dazza !! That was mad to see the green fella right there and you nailed the shots and video too !! Best get some speedy Gonzales cards soon for your 3022 project :-)
Love how their ears turn white during winter... we don't normally have squirrels in the garden but during the last month or so we have had a single visitor which has cheered up the wife... I just tell her they are really rats with tails..lol. We was in NW over the New Year and she is desparate to see a red - I'll have to sort that out methinks.. Ye, I am the same with Greenies too - got a shot of a juvenile greenie many years ago but nothing great... lovely footage and great shots.
This was great, Darren! I’m a big fan of both birds and squirrels, so I’ll be looking forward to more of your project. We have nothing like your green woodpecker over here. It was a treat to see it, and you certainly managed some wonderful shots. I’m glad you are feeling better and are back out in the world. Take care!
Morning Kathleen They really are beautiful birds and I love watching them flash through the trees of the college. I’ve seen them many times on the grass but I’ve never managed to photograph them, but now that I have full permission from the college to video and photograph the wildlife in the grounds I’ll hopefully have more opportunities in the future. Best wishes and stay well 👋
Fantastic! What a place to be. Congratulations on your exhibition being picked up by the college too! Subbed! Found your channel after stumbling across the photography pubcast! Looking forward to following your vlogging journey. Jen
Great start to 2022 Darren, nice to see you well and back to your old form. Hope we are going to see more of the Green Woodpecker in the future. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Morning John, I’m constantly searching for the nesting sites but as of yet I’ve not found it. Maybe this spring I’ll be lucky enough to find it. Take care mate and best wishes for 22 🍺
That woodpecker sequence is superb Darren. I love the squirrels pictures, but our local wood has Reds & Greys and it is highly likely that the Reds days are numbered so I am less keen on Greys up here. I really admire your patience for these images. Take care and thanks for the video.
HI Darren. Good to see you back after isolation. Some excellent images of the college, bought back some memories. Wildlife is a waiting game, best of luck. Tony.
What a great day you had Darren. Green woodpecker and greys Can't wait to see the next installment. Ps had a grey in garden so had to get a couple of shots, only had phone to hand though. Stay safe 👍

Great images all round Darren, I saw some great images of foxes in the Dear Park but I’m not sure if the general public can gain access to it.

Cheers Keith and that’s a real shame about the greys.
Nature is beautiful and cruel at the same time 😞
